The biggest problem with Sonic Frontiers was it's complete lack of enthusiasm in the story outside of the boss fights, a surprising lack of Sonic attitude and on top of that the open zone music, environment and art style was completely off for what I'd expect any Sonic game to look and sound like. It gave me Sonic 06 levels of dissonance yet I feel like somehow 06's graphics still felt more natural around the characters than in Frontiers.It's a step in the right direction and if they polish and sharpen up the open zone gameplay and actually put in the effort to make those open zones feel natural for Sonic to run around in then I could see a sequel actually being good. I do not have much hope for Sonic storytelling anymore though so all I can do is just hope that it's not horrible.
