18 years ago Sonic was announced for BrawlPrior he was requested to be in Melee around the time Sega gave up on video game consoles but was too late along with SnakeWhen Brawl came around Sega forgot again to ask early and asked right before the game when gold, Sakurai agreed to delay the game and add Sonic, which led to Toon Link, Wolf, and Jigglypuff being added along side him.When Smash 4 was being worked on Sonic was actually not in the original design docs, it wasn’t until the deal between Sonic Team and Nintendo was agreed upon and Sega sent Sakurai/Sora an early copy of Lost World for references.And with Smash Ultimate Sonic was added simply due to them having to get everyone back.

Chasing after the success of Shadow (again) seems like yet another short term reactionary strategy from Sonic Team. Forces tried to appeal to westerners and we ended up with a bunch of faux Freedom Fighters and a deadend comic book. Frontiers and the lore team is throwing shit at the wall and adding professor Tori and King Boom Boo lore which was a big nothing burger. This whole franchise suffers from lack of vision. Someone needs to provide some real direction for the franchise, and it isn't Iizuka.
