Generally I would say it's the best dub Atlus has ever done. They went the Fromsoft route and got a lot of actual actors from the UK. Unfortunately the protagonist's voice is horrible, but what can you do? Heismay's accent is unplaceable and delightful.

Why is everything always so terrible

Is the action combat just frustrating and shitty for anyone else? It's been bugging me a little the whole game but this skeleton clusterfuck in the royal palace is horrible. I've spent half the game sneak attacking things only to end up ambushed because they take so many hits to stun even by surprise.

I am playing for the first time and I don't see the issue. The sneak attacking is super annoying when you want to do it for the cheevo, but you can always just instantly start turn based from afar, and it's not like the sneak attack does enough damage to justify itself.

The dungeon pacing is definitely weird especially with some of the gimmick dungeons they had and the Mage Academy seeming like cut content. And a lot of the sidequest dungeons just seem half-assed, not to mention having really lacking recycled visuals.

Metaphor's dungeons mogged pretty much everything we've seen in both SMT and Persona for years. And yes that includes P5, because Zelda esque dungeons where the puzzles solve themselves just aren't the same as classic layouts. Like some of those forest areas have better layouts than every single dungeon - if you can even call them that - in SMTV. It's ridiculous.

It's interesting how the last girl you get is always the worst girl. It was true in Persona 4 (although Naoto is at least good for hentai), Persona 5 (easily, no contest), Persona 3 (I forgot who the last girl was but it was probably Aigis, so I am correct) and now at last I can truly see it's also true in Persona M.

Man the combat mechanics in this game are so fucking retarded. I died 0 (zero) times to any of the bosses but some of the random "elite" (?) enemies killed me at least 3 times and the crystals take half my HP with one attack and sometimes they spawn trash and sometimes they spawn semi-elite enemies (that can still solo the party because 7 AoE attacks, which no boss ever does).

JRPGs just love getting off on not telling any of the damage calculations and no one ever complains about it because muh epic big numbers.

I'm not sure how much I like the use of More in this. More never talked to or was aware of the player, only his complete form was, and up until the moment More reunites with the rest of his soul he doesn't remember why he started frantically writing Seeker names all over the Royal Magic scroll.
The reason why this ends up being weaker is less because of the details being slightly different but because More's entire role in the game is to show what his ideal was, why it broke down, and why he had faith in it in the end by remembering everything gradually up until the very last moment of the story. He isn't omniscient like Igor, even with his true face in the sky he's a failure like the Archetypes are a failure despite having the best intentions and everything he has left is dedicated to trying to prevent the only thing he has to pass on from being a failure also.

But you're right that it'll weaken the end reveal considerably since the rest of his character hinges on being the King, and him helping Will (provided he somehow doesn't kill himself here) will end up strange if they've never talked to each other

You aren't talking to More, you're talking to the king who actually tried to contact you after he activated the Royal Magic and found out Will was alive and before he's killed by Louis. More explicitly doesn't know anything about your or anyone else's name in the scroll for almost the entire runtime of the game - all he has is a vague recollection because it happened before he was created. This is also why he only comes back to talk to you again at the very end of the story after both parts are reunited.

I'm glad Soejima finally fully adopted the Kaneko eyeliner. MegaTen doesn't feel right without it.

I lost weight while playing P4G. I maintained it during P5R, P5S, P3R and P5T (~140 pounds). Then I gained 22~25 pounds while playing Metaphor throughout this year. Coincidence? I don't think so.
