We literally had this discussion back then. Low rates do NOT work, and especially not with a low population. RO was never meant to be played with a such a low player count. Only one set of people have enough free time to spend leveling there and well all know who they are. They're currently the ones with 300+ cards in ccro and always complaining that they're getting bored.
Incidentally, those people are not friendly nor beneficial for the healthy life of a server. They'll speedrun everything, enshit the market and make the new player experience overall miserable. Which will inevitably just kill the interest in the server. It has happened 3 times already, and the only thing keeping them in check in ccro are the seasonal regular players of that server and the high rates.

There isn't really an influx of new players, but one person joins up. That's a personal thing, personally I like trying / testing builds and what I liked about Ragna were the class changes, so I wanted to make more classes but the grind pushed me away from it, it was such an awful unenjoyable time sink.
So no, leveling isn't the "interest in the server" for everyone, for some, like me, it's just playing the classes and doing stuff with other people.
Getting gear sure, I even liked the new areas / gear / cards, but if I'll spend 2 entire months of non-stop playing to get it just to see if it's even worth using, then it's not worth the time, not when I could just play so many other games instead with my friends and have more immediate fun.

I've played 4keks and v2 so yeah I've seen the same complaint you guys repeat over the years. It's always the same "why is there someone with more gear than me wah wah please help me get to 99" stuff that gets repeated over and over.
Sadly I missed v3, I actually did want to check out those changes and even keknibble downported content if its fun, but its basically a solo server right now.

The downports weren't that much of an issue, the issue was that Dev expected you to grind forever to get to them and he also balanced enemies with outlier players in mind.

Oh, no, I know some of it is Renewal systems but the problem is leaving it like their renewal counterparts instead of balancing it around a low population pre-re server.
In Renewal it makes sense that so much of it is low droprate garbage that you're expected to grind hundreds of because in Renewal you can actually clear those maps in seconds, it also makes sense that armors and weapons need refine because in an official server you have access to safe refine tickets, blacksmith blessings and enriched; armors and weapons are actually expected to go all the way to +14 even.
But on V3 you can only kill at most 2 to 4 enemies at once and only if you're completely geared, and the refine chances are not improved at all, so you're just locked into a 200+ hours grindfest against stupidly strong enemies where you're not even sure if after all that you'll get the item, into then the pre-re refine system with no way to improve your odds which sucks, because it makes all that time so easily go wasted against awful odds.
You don't even have access to a market to buy those items from other people, so you're all on your own too.

Its basically gonna be a pokemon game where all jobs can catch any monsters outside MVP in the game. What the mob is and do is what you get from summoning it starting level 5. Mobs will be divided by tier 1-3 and you'll be able to summon up to 3 points (three mob tier 1 or one tier 3 for ex). I will also make learning scrolls for skills like bless, heal, basic elemental skills, etc... so you can customize your monsters. Any INN will also be used to heal all your monsters for free. Some maps are gonna be PVP enable too but...
only for your pets! You'll also be able to duel people anywhere too if you wanna collect nuggets.

MMOs are all about delayed gratification. Allowing you to obtain the good stuff upfront with little work isn't better. And even then, most of these things were a few days/a week worth of effort, hardly a lot by the genre's standards.
There is also the matter of how much I sped up the way you're supposed to interact with these systems. Things like coin farming were meant to take months of effort originally, but on Ragna/v/ you can farm them at whatever pace you want, without timegating. Your progression is tied to your effort.

I'll admit that perhaps my adaptations weren't perfect. For example, I overestimated the rate at which Zeny was acquired by the average player. Although I managed to obtain the desired outcome(prevent zeny inflation), I didn't want to shackle people to Mavka farming for quite that long.

Hunters are not better than Gunslinger on Ragna/v/ as a pure farming class.
I put a lot of effort into making melee classes playable. LK, sinX, Rogue, Whitesmith are all playable. Paladins are probably a bit behind everyone else because new content hasn't really put out many undead/shadow mobs....but people certainly do play magic classes. Proff is probably better for solo, though.

When I adapt monsters, I slash away at their DEX/AGI in order to bring their HIT/FLEE to sensible numbers. I'm also mindful of DEF/MDEF too. Their HPs are high but adequate for the power level you're expected to have with all the improved gear I've given.
A lot of this power isn't too difficult to access for a new player. Things like Mora, Rockridge and Verus sets can be farmed within an hour or two(once you're at the adequate level). The enchants take a lot more time and effort but just having the pieces already gives you half of their potential power.

That's just how low rates work. Either it's a low pop and there aren't many shops, or it's one of those long running servers with big pops but inflation makes everything expensive and you can't buy any of it. The thing where 5% of zeny carries over to the next season is poison on ccRO. Precisely because you start out with huge inflation already plaguing the server. This is big lie, in 1 ~ 2 hours you can get like 20 to 40 coins if you're lucky, because the rates are so bad and the monsters are so tanky. There's a reason why so many people decided to forego farming Mora and just did dailies or stole coins with other classes.

As a sidenote to this, currently floor damage of BS and WS is completely busted. Mammonite and cart termination both consume 0 zeny and 5-7 sp per use. So if your gear is shitty, their dps is an order of magnitude above mages, sinx and lk, and also slightly above hunter. Buy a solar sword + stick a hunter fly card in and you are almost immortal with 10k dps.
Strongly recommended for new and retunring players to steamroll the game.

MOTD content happens in two waves generally. One after the MOTD reset (largely for the NA crowd) and one roughly about 16 hours later (when the EU crowd gets on). This is not planned, this just happens naturally, but it's regular enough.

Other stuff like Thanatos, group card or gear farming, and normal mvp hunts happen whenever people feel like it and are completely unplanned, spur of the moment stuff. Someone wants to do it, 10 minutes later we go. Posting it here, very few if any would even see the post until it's already over.

I imagine proper ET runs will be different. I at least will post about it here, as I myself learn about them. As these require organization.

The old /rog/ community was absolutely obsessed with cliques for whatever reason. Around the time the first Ragna/v/ took place, a completely new group of people first settled into the general but some old elements were still around. They introduced cliqueposting, which was adopted by some new people. Although I'm told it used to be much worse before.

As with everything on this site, the meaning changed over time. Basically, if people do literally anything in a group and [poster] was not invited and was made aware after the fact, it apparently constitutes a clique already. God forbid people invite their friends first and foremost, or try to have guild activities. That's just not how human interactions work at all, either online or IRL.
The hard to swallow pill here is that, in a social game like RO, your ability to network and mingle is a skill. As admin, I see people play in many different ways. I have seen people on all three Ragna/v/s plays entirely by themselves for months without interacting with anybody else, and I have seen people entirely party oriented. Both have their ups and down but, in general, the game favors those that can socialize.

The reality of things is that the chance of you being invited to difficult, high level content is a function of [how useful you make yourself * number of players who have you in their list of favorite people]. If you're not popular or useful, you'll probably have to wait until a scuffed pub party takes place. And I'm afraid that most servers aren't as pub friendly as Ragna/v/. In fact, most RO private servers barely have people talking on global chat at all...let alone putting out party invites.

Well there's a limit on things. A party needs roles fulfilled and that's just the reality of things. My rebalance has made things a lot more flexible but certain functions can only be fulfilled by one or two classes. The people who play certain support roles like Devotion Paladin or Bard/Clown are almost certainly able to fit into any party, while DPS classes really depends on what you're going to hit. And if you're a melee non-tank, you're lucky to be invited at all. Just take a look at just how far I had to tip the game in favor of melees just to put them in parity with ranged DPS, that's how much at a disavantage they usually find themselves.

Last season we had a rogue who was soloing MvPs, but I dunno how necessary the outfit was for that.
I know that with Snake Lord and other cards you can make double attack really gross on it, as well as Sidewinder rune giving you +25% chance to DA on daggers, but that's about it.
Now that I think about it, I don't even remember them using the outfit, so dunno.

Even ignoring difference in damage, Mammonite just doesn't have the same feeling as Cart Termination. I've enjoyed spamming F1 and smacking monsters with my cart for the last 18 years. The sound and visual effects are perfect, they make me feel like my character is strong. Mammonite has a coin noise and a greedy jew type character in the animation to make me constantly think about how I'm spending zeny to do something (do damage) that other characters can do for free.

You get 1 at 400 cards, a 2nd one if you get 435 cards, both are random, but you can pick one of them instead of both being random if you get all 443 cards by exchanging the Rebirth Level you get for it.
Sadly one of them will always be random, so you can get bad luck and lose an outfit on a class you don't like at all.

You can't enchant an armor with multiple stat enchants, enchanting the same armor twice replaces the old enchant with a new one.
Every time you enchant it has the same risk of breaking as the first time you do.
Max possible stat enchant on an armor is +3 of a single stat.
