But that was back when Chronomon was an artificial super ultimate Digimon himself and not the incarnation of time itself, so I wonder if they will keep the connection to him, if they bothered to remember him again.

I caved in and got the grinding dungeon. For anyone curious what the exp dungeon does is give you 3 rooms of enemies that drop exp items but give no exp themselves, higher tier being MetalEtemon that drop the item that gives you 100000 exp. I don't know why they did this instead of just making the enemies themselves give 100000 exp when killed, this only makes it so you have to manually feed your digimon the items one by one instead of everyone leveling at once.

This game is fun so far. Aegiomon is a precious cinnamon bun. I have no idea how the card game works. As of the virus greymon fight hard difficulty seems to be pretty good balance so I'm glad I decided to go with it off the rip.
