You should get a pretty nice cooler that can keep your very expensive silicone's temp 10-20 degrees below the average if you're spending 9800X3D kind of money. That's one of the best gaymer CPUs you can get and if you don't pair it with a great cooler while planning to max out games you are just a moron. If you want to get by with moderate or stock cooling you should be on a more lightweight CPU that can make do with much less than 160W under boost. Many older CPUs are perfectly adequate for this game.Also I would love to know if ohdough updated his BIOS even once, because that's another known and prevalent issue, Zen5 CPUs bricking from faulty BIOS. The projectile isn't hitscan so the moment you warp and it shoots you can still warp again in a fraction of a second and make it out alive. But that's just theory and leviathans don't even spawn anymore.

For whatever reason this patch is the best the game has ever run for me. Disconnects, sound, and host issues aside. The patch prior to Into the Untested had me freezing, hard locking, crashing and stuttering constantly like everyone has been describing with the current state. I could maybe play one mission in an op until the game shit itself at some point shortly after. So far since the title update I haven't had any of that. Swede jank is some shit.

I have a 5800x3d, 4070 12GB, installed on an SSD, capped at 60, on Windows 10. With the requirements being so low and capped frames you can see when the system starts to get loaded. When the frame drops start, my "CPU load" isn't maxed out. What does max out is one or two of the cores. Steam's overlay is super helpful here because MSI Afterburner and the windows resource monitor just use an aggregate load on the entire CPU. But Steam will display the highest load right next to the overall load and even give a graph. So overall CPU load hits around 60% while the game is shitting the bed into the 50s and 40s, but a few of the cores are maxing out at like 98%. The GPU is also pretty mellow, at about 50-60% during these sequences. I took time to slowly turn up graphical settings like resolution, object and terrain detail, veg and rubble density, etc. The GPU handled it like a champ and by the time I had turned most of my settings back up, the GPU was rumbling along at like 80%. The game is just coded like shit to fucking slam a few cores of the CPU, or there's some other CPU intensive task that hits when the game starts getting busy.
