Reminder that Hornet refers to Lace as "child"
>>
>>543234243
>She's most likely not the one who imprisoned FS , as her cage has runes , and the citadel denied her absolution
Why are Weavers being punished if GMS isnt in control?
>Anon, she did none of those things. Phantom came pre rebellion (and Lace too probably).
Why weren't they purged/how did they survive GMS being a vegetable?
What did they do during the Weaver dominant period?
>>
>>543236804
Point is that the excuse of GMS being asleep matters zilch when she shows to have serious agency no matter her "status".
To the point where being "asleep" must be viewed as a metaphorical condition, affecting judgement perhaps - like a stupor, but not dormancy like we mortals can understand it.
>>
>>543240163
Doesnt matter because hornet gets called a child too so it evens out
>>
>>543240190
>Why are Weavers being punished if GMS isnt in control?
the only example of this is Widow. Widow was one of the original weavers loyal to GMS and it can be speculated that other weavers did that to her. The only other example we have are choral commandments , given out by conductors, to capture weavers.
>>543240190
I do not know, Phantom as a whole has not enough info about her , despite how important she is. Phantom has to come before GMS to make sense, otherwise her existance is self contradictory.
>GMS created Phantom and then sent her to the Exhaust, in order to help the citadel keep her sealed.
the Haunting has to be a subconscious effort, Pavo describes it as feeling strange sad memories not of his own. and well, GMS wants Hornet to reach her, she even aids her with trapping Bell Beast. haunted bugs attack Hornet preventing her from reaching GMS
>>
>>543241017
>the only example of this is Widow. Widow was one of the original weavers loyal to GMS and it can be speculated that other weavers did that to her
If it was the Weavers you have to explain why Widow left the pins in forever
>>
>>543241017
Sounds very contradictory all of it.

If Widow is loyal, why is she being kept in bondage.

If Weavers ruled citadel, why is the First Sinner still under lock and key

There's grave issues with the timeline, no matter what. The biggest thing is that people are taking what many key npcs are saying at face value.

I don't think GMS is asleep. I don't think Weavers were in open rebellion as much as they took more overt control over planning and decisionmaking.

And their loss necessitates a change in how the administration is run.
>>
>>543241683
>If Weavers ruled citadel, why is the First Sinner still under lock and key
because it wasn't GMS who locker her up. her cage has runes (weavers only) and the cocoon symbol after she's sealed.
>>543241683
>If Widow is loyal, why is she being kept in bondage.
because Silk is not in charge. the haunting has only recently begun.
>>543241217
>If it was the Weavers you have to explain why Widow left the pins in forever
they're embedded in her spine and she doesn't have a mask anymore. who could be there to remove them.
>>
>>543242020
First sinner was locked up by weavers? Why hasn't GMS set her free and used her like Widow? Why is a Weaver-era political prisoner still being kept, for crimes against Weavers? These are the guys you release to gain power in a takeover/palace coup.

Also Hornet is locked under rune cages several times. Since Weavers learned all they knew about silk/soul from GMS, it stands to reason she is just as good, if not better at ALL related skills like cages and so on, binding one's power.

>silk is not in charge
Says who? There's literally zero healthy people in the citadel. Everyone has silk running through their bodies. Who put that silk there? GMS (by proxy).

You are doing that thing again, where you are taking everything said by every single npc as 100% truth and 100% fact. And when you inevitably run into numerous contradictions you use copious amounts of mental leaps to arrive at the position that you prefer.

There's very little logical coherence in what you're saying.

There's been three regimes as far as we know. And all put GMS at the tippy top of rule over every other bug. No one actually got rid of her, everyone is serving her in one way or another. No one can actually wean themselves off of Silk use, no one can live without Silk in their veins.

Yet GMS is not in charge, even though she is the one universal constant in the citadel. Times change and religions might change, but she is the one constant everyone needs to pay attention to, can't live without, can't work against without dire consequences and so on.

And yet she's not in charge, not at any point up until last weekend... when she "woke" "up" from her "deep sleep"... which wasn't her fault at all, but also didn't stop her from making children, mind controlling everyone, punishing others and so on.

'GMS dindu nuffin' theorists are off by a mile.
>>
>>543237393
It feels overwhelming because there's so much going on, but fundamentally it's the same as earlier phases only faster and more hectic. You gotta take a breath, relax, focus.
I was once where you are now, just keep at it and you'll get better.
>>
But anons first sinner is a "memory" boss
>>
>>543213282
I really don't understand why they want to railroad you into that upgrade so badly. I ended up just cheating to get past the fan, and the rest of act 2 at least was very much possible to beat without it, even if high halls and cogwork were harder for it. And yeah, that was the only fan I ever encountered during the whole game that was mandatory for story progression.
>>
>>543241017
>the Haunting has to be a subconscious effort, Pavo describes it as feeling strange sad memories not of his own. and well, GMS wants Hornet to reach her, she even aids her with trapping Bell Beast. haunted bugs attack Hornet preventing her from reaching GMS
GMS wants to capture Hornet. GMS is using the haunting on the bugs to make it so.
>Hornet dialogue with Seamstress: "I have ventured high, seen the Citadel and its state. That place is long lost... generations lost, a gilded tomb, drowned in Silk dregs. For its minions, so compelled in my capture, I now see clearly the source of their unity, and their strange strength... They are husks bound tight by the one who waits at its crest.."
Hornet getting captured at the start of the game is 'cause GMS wants her, for whatever reason.
In the cradle there's also a few tablets on the other fraction-blood weavers that GMS order to go get.
>>
>>543247753
What's your take on who put her in jail, and why.

Explain how she met her end, and why it's important that we see her (what use is she to the narrative).
>>
>>543248106
nta, but I think GMS put her there. How? By haunting some bugs, or even haunting weavers. Why is it important? Idk. To show that GMS retaliated at some point, I guess. I kinda do wonder why the first ever weaver also happens to be the first one to sin. Or did I misunderstand that part?
>>
>>543248106
>who put her in jail
No one
>>
>>543248965
???
>>543248569
I think it's likely it's GMS who put her there. We see GMS' regime, first and foremost. Showing off her political prisoners makes sense from a narrative standpoint.

But it goes against a type of anon, who is somewhat invested in laundering GMS' different crimes under other actors.
Hence 1st sinner becomes a Weaver criminal, punished by weavers (???). Still kept under lock and key, not rehabilitated in the slightest (here lies a brave patriot who gave her life to fight against the terrible criminals Who Shall Not Be Named etc),
>>
>>543249362
>???
The first sinner doesnt exist
>>
>>543249641
Explain your point in more detail.
Why do we fight an imaginary foe? For what purpose?
>>
>>543241017
>Phantom has to come before GMS to make sense, otherwise her existance is self contradictory.
Not sure what you mean, nor why it'd be a contradiction. Pretty sure Phantom came after the weavers left. And that she and Lace were made so GMS can have daughters loyal to her, unlike the weavers that lulled her to sleep.
>The Cradle Silk Heart dialogue: "...Better a child spun frail... than none... ...Better a child spun pure... than them... ...One to wish our waking... ...From our Silk... A child born loyal... "
>>
>>543251917
Because GMS is 'asleep' but still doing things. This is a plot hole if you consider GMS to have no agency (which she obviously does).

People wrap themselves into pretzels because GMS is a smol bean (who I want to fuck) and she didn't do anything wrong
>>
>>543252419
>Because GMS is 'asleep' but still doing things. This is a plot hole if you consider GMS to have no agency (which she obviously does).
I don't consider her to have absolutely no agency. I see her situation kinda like her being sealed, but there's cracks or leaks in it. I think the reason why she was able to take over Pharloom was because of the silk the weavers and/or conductors put into bugs. Thanks to that, she was able to "hone-in" on them and then haunt them through the cracks.
>Hornet: "...The children born of them, and all the pilgrims after... The Silk has seeded deep into this kingdom's shells, generations deep... No wonder Pharloom's bugs proved such easy prey for that haunted thread. It had only to seek for itself to reach them."
After haunting them, she had them break the music making machines, freeing her from her deep slumber. (That's a number of quotes that reference how quiet the citadel is now).
After that, I believe she then made Phantom. The first loyal silken daughter to serve her outside the cradle.
>>
>>543246134
Anon, nobody but a few select individuals even know about the truth behind the citadels purpose. Barely anyone knows who GMS is
>>
>>543251917
Phantom is operating the exhaust organ for the citadel, thus Phantom is actively helping seal GMS. That would mean GMS designed a daughter with the explicit purpose of keeping herself sealed up.
>>
>>543247870
>GMS wants to capture Hornet. GMS is using the haunting on the bugs to make it so.
Anon, the bugs kill Hornet, not capture her. If GMS had total control over the Haunted why would the flies send Hornet into the slab instead of the Cradle?
The Conductors were the ones to order the capture of the weavers, GMS is merely happy to pick uo their slack. Choral Commandments are issued by the citadel , we know the Conductors last edict was to finish the cogwork core. Therefore their commandment to capture Hornet came before.
>>
just finished act 3 last night finally, 37 hours clocked with only 74% complete lmao
I don't understand how so many people were disappointed with lost lace as a final boss? she was the hardest boss in the game for me, and it managed to build up to it in the limited time available. epic void entity knight cameo as well. man what a game, definitely going to 100% and sub-5 hour it at some point. idk about steelsoul that seems psychotic

>>
>>543256578

>>
>>543255221
>Phantom is operating the exhaust organ for the citadel, thus Phantom is actively helping seal GMS.
GMS already controls the Citadel at this point. She's also not helping seal GMS if the music sealing her has already stopped.
iirc Phantom doesn't just expel waste, but also silk into the air. This possibly helps spread GMS' haunted silk around. The Mist disappears after beating Phantom since all of that silk is no longer pumped into the air there.

>the bugs kill Hornet, not capture her.
Hornet dialogue with Seamstress:
>"...They hunt me for my nature. For the Silk produced within my shell. Not for themselves but for the one atop it all."
Widow:
>How fine her shell, and Silk, and claw... For you, mother... let me claim her all for you!

>If GMS had total control over the Haunted why would the flies send Hornet into the slab instead of the Cradle?
'Cause they aren't haunted? Having silk in you and being haunted aren't the same thing.

>The Conductors were the ones to order the capture of the weavers
I think that happens after their haunting, making GMS the one to order that.
Why would they capture weavers of their own accord? Weavers were revered in Pharloom.
>>
after clearing the game I'm also convinced that wanderer is the best crest by a large margin, not counting architect. you have to always use the weighted belt, long claw, and flint slate but it's incredibly consistent and its fast attack speed makes it easy to clash hits. I tried to use the counter skill with the hunter crest but I just couldn't be consistent enough I feel. I may not have got the 2nd hunter upgrade though?
>>
>>543256413
>I don't understand how so many people were disappointed with lost lace as a final boss? she was the hardest boss in the game for me
I like Lace, so I'm fine with her as a last boss. In terms of difficulty, I don't think she's "hard" even though I died a lot. Karmelita or Last Judge were the bosses I found hard. Guess it varies a lot person to person.
>>
oh also you can get an extra blue and yellow tool slot???? this game is so massive dude it's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that I just spent nearly 40 hours on this game and didn't even hit 75% completion
>>
>>543257953
Wanderer plus weight belt lets you absolutely pummel LL during her transition to 2nd phase
>>
>>543257953
>you have to always use the weighted belt, long claw, and flint slate
Not even. I wore the weighted belt 'cause I didn't really have any other yellows I wanted to use, but I didn't use long claw nor flint slate and I used wanderer for essentially the whole game after the middle of Act 2. Even without those, it feels great to me.
>>
>>543258017
karmelita I thought was fairly hard, last judge was overhyped imo I beat that bum in only a few tries and I didn't even have the safety mask. the contact damage is what gets me almost every time and the judge was ironically pretty easy to avoid for me despite the size

Groal did absolutely nothing wrong and we kill him. Feels bad, but that's the game.

There's not a real nobility in Silksong in any case. GMS is the tippy top emperor and rules everything with an iron fist.

There's not even a GMS-faction beyond a singular weaver and her homunculus-experiment children. Which means there's not a true nobility that can make choices in her name.

Such is the centralization of power of GMS. A terrible and worthless ruler. Corrupt and evil.

Yeah, I agree he's like the only one that'd make any sense. But it doesn't make sense in terms of game play.

For it to work you'd have to scale up the world, but then he'd still be towering over every NPC and enemy and the characters would be small in comparison to the world, etc. It doesn't really work. He'd be better off in a fighting game.

I have 62 hours in and I'm sure a good few hours was me stuck in the Bilewater area where I traveled from the fast travel station to the boss, Groal, each time to fight.

I don't know if I can ever find the motivation to get the guardian memento.

Nah, then it just feels worthless.

>>543289274
lol I just found that item last night, and that's the last area I've left to explore. Got lucky I guess, no burnt out yet.

>(of all places, why there?).
That body you took it from was the body of the third pinstress sister
>I'm sure a good few hours was me stuck in the Bilewater area where I traveled from the fast travel station to the boss, Groal, each time to fight.
There's a super secret bench in bilewater, thought there's still a travel to the boss
>>

but it is worthless

I dunno who that person is and why it was so important that the developers left an obviously useful item that would have helped me out way more in the beginning as opposed to after I've long since acclimated to areas with the bilewater.

And I did hear about the secret bench. Now that I have the item I suppose I can explore the area to find the secret bench. What a bunch of spiteful developers. Just like the Sinner's Road false bench and I swore I hit the area but apparently I didn't when I read there was a secret area that unlocks the bench

You know the seamstress in Far Fields? The one that makes your cloak float-able? One of her sisters. You'll notice she's in a balloon, and the place you took the wreath from had a broken balloon behind it.
>left an obviously useful item that would have helped me out way more in the beginning as opposed to after I've long since acclimated to areas with the bilewater.
That's probably why they did it lol. That said, I actually ended up getting it before I beat Groal. I never used it though since I can just heal off the maggots.
>>
>>543293102
Yeah, that's why it's not even really worth cheating for. Either I have to feel it has an intrinsic value that makes it worth playing for, or I just don't get it.

aaaaahhhhhhhhh

that makes sense. Thank you anon.

is this the most useless area in the entire game?

It's there to connect the two halves of Greymoor if you skipped ahead with the flea caravan.

What were these hacks doing for those seven years?
>>

I wouldn't say I enjoyed it, but it's not like I feel particularly negative about it. Maybe neutral? The runback was terrible though.
>>

That's where the big rats live. Are you saying they don't need a home?
>>543304021
I think having to play that one song is something they did on purpose to block people from using elegy of the deep on her.
Maybe a DLC will allow it?

First time I was in this room I was confused on what the hell to challenge when there's nothing else in there. I thought there was an entity that would teleport or swoop into view, then I saw the fucking sun itself grow wings. That was absolute kino. GMS just doesn't capture the same feeling.

i considered getting a g7se but settled on a cyclone 2
super nova is comparable too, but if you aren't limited by budget the best option is probably the flydigi vader 4 pro
been 6 months since i researched third party controllers though, maybe something better came out

save and quit whenever you're low health. loading the save spawns you at full health from the last checkpoint or bench with no consequences, refilling your tools and fractured mask if spawned on a bench. very useful for the start of act 3.

STOP LAUGHING AT ME LACE SAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>>
>>543318121
What do you mean? They're ordered in the expected route.
TC assume you drop down into cogwork after the dancers because it's literally right there, then hit the archive because it's nearby, and then go to high halls last. That's why high halls has the difficulty spike arena. It's the final challenge before lace 2.

Apparently a whole bunch of you just zoomed out of the room to the left without even checking what's below.

"To be continued" refers to Mr. Mushroom questline (it only appears after Mr. Mushroom ending). Means Mr. Mushroom will show up in the Team Cherry's next game.

To be fair, Hornet is "Child Wielding Needle".
