A FAS rerolls ALL the slots on the item, and gives an enhancement bonus to any blessing slots the item dropped with, and it lets you alter it again afterwards. IF you alter it afterwards, you lose any enhancement bonus in that slot. But you can keep throwing alter stones at that slot til you roll a high number.So you take something like the Master Fighter's Ring. You would use a Full Alteration Stone first to reroll all the stats, except the master fighter ring is special and it CAN'T roll with different stats, so it rolls the same ones, then gives it an enhancement blessing, and you just get a free +5 or so on every slot since it's a red 4 star item.Then you alter the defense in the first slot to attack because defense sucks.
