I probably should play more ow2 since that's new and fancy but I find myself desiring to play RT more at the moment. I started a new playthrough for 1.5 and I'd prefer to see the new items and origins etc.I'll play more ow2 after some patches and everyone else plays it on release day and submits bug reports. I swear, every game, you're supposed to wait a week or two to actually play since there's always huge bugs. I'm still getting the no quick/manual save bug about ever hour, and I didn't see that addressed in today's patch notes. So I'll play other things. Like there's not much actual creativity, it's a lot of what we've all already done before, in environments we've seen before, with mechanics we've seen before. With just a few exceptions, like not all skill/background dialogue options being the right one, some are traps and you still have to use your actual discretion as a player if something makes sense instead of just clicking on the unique option that has a tag next to it, which in most games is automatically the best one. I gave OW1 a C, so I'll give this one a B-. Good enough to not be bad, better than lots of games, but not one of the classics or greats or even recent greats.

I really do not like the idea of alpha/early access. In crpg in a particular. It's ok in a devoid of story stuff like strategy games. But in a game where narrative plays a huge role that's stupid. Investing in the sneak skill does let you sneak attack more variety of enemies. I think it makes sense as a reward for investing in certain skills, you get better at it and know where the weak point in various armors is. I prefer that it's a stat based game that references your character sheet often, rather than you being able to just do anything regardless of build like Skyrim.With zero Sneak or Melee, I can't really complain I can't sneak attack enemies and my melee does no damage. But I bought the leadership skill because it makes your squad do more damage, and I'm sorely disappointed by that ability. I also bought the Space Ranger feat that makes your damage output scale with Speech (2.5% per point in speech so I'm getting 15%) and that's also turned out to be shit. It's not like I'm completely neglecting damage, I have multiple damage related feats and I'm upgrading my gear. On the other hand, I can only assume that a character who had 12 points in Guns would be saying "I had no problem with that section". But I think that's ok, since build is mattering and that's what we want in a crpg. In open fights, I haven't had a problem so far, because my Leadership skill buffed team shoots enemies while I use my light armor to sprint around and distract the enemy. The problem has only arisen now, when I'm in these tight hallways where that strategy doesn't have room.This is fun in itself though. Too many games let you mindlessly power through regardless. I'm actually having to adapt to a particular environment.

Now I just got a freeze on a loading screen between sectors.So I've been hit with the no-save bug that prevents auto-saves, manual saves, and quick saves, that also doesn't notify you in any way so you can keep playing for hours not knowing that your saves aren't happening until you die and discover that your last save was 3 hours ago. This exact situation happened to me, and now I'm seeing some people saying the same thing.Then the combat balance being absolutely abysmal. I'm not exactly a combat class, but I would expect to do deal more than 8 damage for a crit on a boss that has 4.4k hp.I'm just done for a while. I'm putting the game on the back burner and I'll watch the patch notes for them fixing the save bug, and maybe some damage scaling/hp scaling issues. It's just not fun to combat bugs (which I'm actually ok with, being a long time bethesda and owlcat fan, bugs don't bother me) just to be hit with a freeze on load screen or some abysmally balanced hp bars. One or two of these things would be ok but not all at once. Sprinkle in a companion reacting to things she shouldn't know which is a writing issue, and you've pretty much hit every category of problems.I enjoy a few aspects of the game, like not every unique dialogue option being the right one and you still have to use your discretion despite having unlocked options, but there's just too much unfun or disruptive QOL stuff at the moment. I'll continue after some patches.In the meantime, some nice relaxing Rogue Trader sounds good.
