>>544723870This continued with intact clear continuity into Mario Sunshine (mainline) clearly happening after Mario 64 and Luigi's Mansion 1. Then in later games continuity pretty much became a bubble format, with almost no nods to continuity if any at all.
>>544740814The problem with placing Luigi's Mansion on a Mario timeline is that the game states that King Boo is not a new enemy for Mario while in reality he was a new enemy for us. This ties in to all of the theories that the Luigi Mansion series takes place after mainline Mario as a whole (that disregard Double Dash for some reason but I digress). That, and Luigi's Mansion has to take place after a time Bowser was very soundly defeated. I don't believe in the Bowser death theory at all because it's dumb but I will say that his defeat in Mario 64 where he retreats doesn't match up with Clairvoya thinking he had to have been revived. So there has to have been a Mario adventure before Luigi's Mansion that had Bowser beaten to a pulp and his fate was ambiguous.

Playing the PAL hidden mansion for the first time feels incredible, but boy is it hard. I saved the game with 8 health right before Mr. Luggs, and I keep getting my ass handed to me by all the mice in the kitchen. There are barely any hearts around, and if I do, I'll usually lose it just as fast.
