I think Digimon being manifestations of human imagination and ideals is the better explanation. It explains why Digimon and their evolutions are so heavily influenced by humans. I hope Gekkomon only evolves by the end of the season, episodes and 10~12.I finally watched episodes 3&4 as I was saving them and I'm not ready to see the little lizard go away and become an Adult Shinka merchant for every battle as is typical in Digimon shows once they unlock evolution, I really dig his original combat style and how it reminds me of Gash Bell or something, the little energetic critter fighting against big enemies is fun. Also their depictions do a good job hitting the notes as far as the Greek/Roman mythology allusions.
