Stories enjoy framing it as hard work but outside excessive situations in settings where willpower and cartoon physics are forces of nature, hard work doesn't cut it for everyone and there's characters who get more out of it. Or there's characters who can't get as much from hard work because they lack some genetic ability or talent. Even in Xianxia settings, the MC has to be picked up by a random teacher who's functionally a cheat code that lets them reach levels that other characters need training for lifetimes to get.

Most normal people would be happy getting that far but Helia hitting a brick wall she could never overcome regardless of hard work and unable to achieve her dreams is oddly closer to Kiana's original "Become S-Rank" goal if she failed at it. For Durandal, I don't recall her ever having very many "I want this but I can't achieve it even though I tried for so long" because she's just so excessively gifted and has the best genes. If anyone's the most normal out of the S-Ranks, it's Rita because she has her moments getting in trouble like Arc City and Sushang's got too many magic technique to be normal. Otto himself joked that Durandal should get her own category because of how excessively gifted she is.

Senti and Hua herself hold nothing back going over her past failures, being deceived by Otto, and having her develop through it. Characters like Elysia, Durandal, or even characters from other games like Neuvillette always being depicted dignified, narratively correct, or at least not in the wrong or as a failure stifles them by withholding flaws to face. This angers me greatly about their character writing. Whenever they want to push a character hard, they usually don't do some great growth arc but just shill them as perfect, strong, and almost never in a position to further develop due to having no weakness to cover. Helia and Coralie's recent arcs prove Mihoyo can still write meaningful character arcs facing their insecurities. They just don't want to. HSR ripped it off. HSR has a tendency to have HI3 scenes without much in surrounding context or emotional payoff. It's amazing how many HSR copies of HI3 scenes are poor man's versions.

Cyrene makes Castorice look like Oscar material. Kongming and Luna utterly BTFO Cyrene in writing quality and both are the most blatant (You) characters in the Captainverse.The voice is unbelievably monotone and the music is nice but nothing special. With how they are conveying in the trailer that the ring is the last puzzle piece they are not subtle about Cyrene is TB wife. They don’t even have her firing a single arrow at something with substance.I would’ve loved them conveying how her puzzle piece is Amphoreus. She can finally fight Irontomb and no longer can just watch Phainon suffering. The trailer should've conveyed her willingness to sacrifice herself for Amphoreus but instead her love is Trailblazing. She really inserted herself into the AE without knowing Welt or Himeko, peak parasocial relationship.
