So besides the two siblings you can customize, here are the 4 main Dark Envoy companions. From what I''ve heard there are two more mutually exclusive ones that depend on which of the competing factions you side with, so the total number is 5 + your two siblings (who have their own personality as well and are not blank slates - reminder there are no dialogue options apart from making major choices the characters act out the rest on their own, but there is decent reactivity for all of the choices so far). Also they cover each of the 4 base classes and you choose their specializations.

This encounter was damn rougher than I remembered on hard. It's just dozen or two gargoyles, but they all rush KC - and if you let them get a full attack in it's over. Mirror image helps to survive for one turn, but I need a turn to cast stuff to deal with rest of dozen gargoyles.And if you let them down you, the equally tanky clerics will just deal you in with channels>Not even stoneskin helps since half of the 'goyles are half-fiends or something that can Smite Evil and ignore all damage reduction that wayIt's not always easy being Neutral Good.Thank god I randomly picked up Freedom of movement scrolls out of a whim, dealing with hold person cancer would've been impossible

There are synergies on a lot of abilities with status effects they inflict. Loot is Diablo style, random with affixes except for some story related drops. You can craft and enchant and buy stuff. There is a research system where you unlock either buffs or crafting/enchanting stuff (it's just collect resources for it and level it up)There is no traditional CRPG dialogue, the characters talk independently you just pick major choices for them: The brother or sister or sometimes one of the companions leans towards a choice and argues for it and when you pick the choice the people who proposed it win the argument and the others either agree/are swayed or begrudgingly accept the outcome. There is reactivity for these choices, for instance during an early quest you can choose to keep a stolen ring and bring it back to your employer (that she wants) or return it to the elves it was stolen from. Your employer stays mad at you if you do so and the elf returns later to help out the town after a certain event etcGame is combat heavy, you fight a lot of enemies on the maps and you have random side dungeons between main story quests and challenge arenas for loot and xp. There are some unfortunate elves who became drow through no fault of their own though, but by that point, they stop having much free-will and are supernaturally compelled to do fiend level evil. They can pass on their curse, but drow almost all abort, and even if they do have children, they're always killed since all Paizo drow are ridiculously evil. In 2E, they were finally wiped out in a systemic genocide, but there were never that many of them because again, they're all sociopaths living in small bands. Their own stupid evil nature keeps their population numbers down.

The dragon is THE top of the pyramid fantasy predator and there is a reason why only the greatest heros could slay them in classical mythology they represent the apex and are near God like figures (there is a reason alot of cultures have dragon gods especially warrior cultures like the Mayans). To lack dragons is to lack a true sense of danger and fear to give to your player in your fantasy setting. And without danger fear and risk your setting feels hollow.
