I decided to restart my playthrough as a different sort of character this time. The earlier parts of the game go much more smoothly once you're familiar with the city and how everything works. The snow and the subtle Christmas music coming out of the various shops is really comfy and atmospheric, and I enjoy prowling the alleys looking for victims. I think the Toreador have the best moveset because they're so movement focused, and nothing in the game can deal with mobility, so you just become unstoppable.
>>545572985>Ku FengIt was cool how she joined the party for a bit near the end
Owlcat raised €780,000 ($909,057) from 18,351 backers during their first Kickstarter campaign for Kingmaker. So I think by that measure Afterlight is on an equal level of success.

The presentation of Wrath of the Righteous leaves a lot to be desired after playing BG3, especially the voices. But I'll give it a chance. Met the underground bug village.

>>545585025I played Rogue Trader right after BG3 and felt the same initially but the lower quality presentation quickly became a non-issue because RT does some things better than BG3 and it's easy to focus on those things. WOTR is the same in that it does some things better than BG3.
>>545585309Check the caster DC on both spells, I think they are at the same school? If one uses a higher spell slut, it will be stronger, since the DC will naturally be higherI don't know if Disruptive Dispel (That feat that can stun the target after a dispel) work on Corrupt tho

I claim that Yrliet was originally supposed to come from Alaitoc, an officially existing craftworld >very strict society>many young eldar rebel against this strictness and become outcasts>the craftworld lurks on the edge of Imperial Space>they are preoccupied with fighting the necrons >their craftworld got bombed to shit by space marines right around the time of RT (The Siege of Alaitoc), and would have been destroyed if the marines hadn't realized the whole thing was a deldar setup and called off the attack>when Yrliet talks to the Alaitoc ancestors on Quetza Temer, they're acting like they're HER ancestors, trying to make her break up with you, instead of just some randoms from a different craftworldIt all fits, right down to her talking about how ossified and strict her craftworld was, but also ruminating that she should have stayed behind and defended it (which makes no sense against an incomprehensible techno-plauge, but does make sense against space marines)However owlkek decided>hey wouldn't it be cool if her homeworld was lost and YOU were somehow responsible for itso they hastily hacked up what they had written and pasted in some nonsense.
>>545587051Even the Warcraft 3/Worlo TRPG system has a crafting system bruv

>>545590993Nah, I liked it too, love building shit and reclaiming the map, not doing everything at once also helpedNon ironically? Give Sengoku Rance a try if anime stuff doesn't bother you, it's a goofy rpg with soft grand strategy elements. Runs can be quite short and the replay potential is huge.If autistic UIs don't bother you, check the game that inspired it: Nobunaga Ambition that and the 3 kingdoms campaign are kinda nice
>>545592697Can't help but notice this fixed backstory doesn't actually solve any of her character's pitfalls
>>545592697I think the one who forced Owlcat hand was GW here. GW goes through all stops to make games not interact with the lore, otherwise we would have got something akin to Space Marine: Horus Heresy, it's very, very rare that they allow games to tie into lore relevant set pieces. It's a reason why the whole DAW set is all OCs and it took years before the Blood Angels became a canon chapter (And GW ruined them)
>>545593224Oh yeah she'd still need to be reworked. Perhaps to focus on "duty vs setting your own path" which is what she seemed to be about at first>>545593379You are probably right about this. The Blood Angels were a conspicuous example.
>>545592697Alaitoc is also in a permanent state of ass-hurt towards the imperium for various reasons, more than usual for space elvesAccounting for her throwing racial abuse at you constantly

>>545595374My hidden shame is that I prefer Votann to Squats
>>545595642Did the Squats even have anything going on apart from being abhumans in the Imperium meant to act as stand-ins for actual dwarves?Don't recall them having anything special or particular about them
>>545595642understood, not everyone can live a life of taste

Are you a fan of temporarily removing party members or not? And I'm not talking about removing them, then getting them back instantly, I'm talking about removing them for 5 or more hours?
>>545597547why would anyone ever be a fan of that
>>545594087I'd kill for a scientist gf that looks like her.
>>545597547The thing that sucks about Woljif is that he's your only rogue (unless your MC is one), and he flees in a story event that would have been hard to anticipate on a new playthrough. This is right before an extremely long mandatory dungeon where you could have really used him. He's often a really important part of your party by that point, as I'm pretty sure a lot of noobs don't level Camellia with trickery once they get Woljiff, and his backstabs are clutch.
>>545597547>>545597637>>545597957It's called a noob trap. People who understand the game don't come to rely too much on any one character, since they understand that they can lose them at any moment. It's ballsy and excellent design from Owlcat. It reminds me a lot of how my Slav DM would conduct his games if a player was too good.
>>545598125wtf how many rogue players get held hostage in slavistan ttrpgs
>>545598125Woljif is a noob trap, not just because of chapter 2, but because he becomes shit in chapter 4 with all the AOE spamming monsters who will fry his ass. Arcane Tricker isn't great, and rogues fall off as they hit later levels in general. Unlike you, I think noob traps are shit design, and in conjunction with the early game slog, is one of the reasons why so many people bounce off of Pathfinder.
A noob trap is when anything ever happens in a game
Best crpg to play a Beastmaster Ranger?
I would never play OW slop even if I was high af
>>545598586Noob trap means that something that seems initially good, but either falls off hard later on, and/or encourages a suboptimal play style (in other words, highish skill floor, but lowish skill ceiling). Basically, it's a crutch. In the case of Owlcat, noob trap can also mean a bugged feat or a badly translated feat.

They would make a killing with a modern star wars crpg. Did you know it's been 20 years since kotor 1/2? That's crazy.Swtor is good in the meantime, and I suppose Zero Company has some trpg elements, which is a sibling genre to crpg. But still...

Where does the "outerworlds 2 characters are all ugly" narrative come from?
Owlcats games did well, why not just make a regular 2e game instead of starfinder?
I'm about to start Baldur's Gate 2 EE, and I can't find my voice again.Did they just drop some voices, or are there just more in BG1EE?The one I'm looking for is the Male Streetwise voice. It really gave some character to my Chaotic Good mage. (I chose lawful neutral at character creation, but didn't really think about what that even meant. Not like Alignment means much anyway.)"Time for a bit of the rough and tumble""What now, I wonder?""Of course. hehe, yeah.""Done and done."

>>545599621star was is turbo dead anon. disney milked all the interest and lore for a decade.just forget you were into it. it's like a friend that passed on. they were good times but it's in the past.
>>545601260What was up with Avowed anyhow?Yahtzee's review said it was just inoffensively combat-focused and didn't have a lot of companions to it. Some others have complained that it's not as deep or well fleshed out as even Oblivion.I might give it a shot if it's a good numbers based RPG with some decent character building and combat. (player skill or player strategy based, either way.)
>>545598913drake sword is a quite good weapon in every situation and you'll never regret using it.doesn't fall off until way later in the game, by that time you have a hundred things to choose from as alternatives if you want. it's the opposite of a noob trap, which would be something like a skill that is great at he start but is replaced by consumables later and taking it means you lose out. something loke magic weapon on a quality build for example in dark souls.
>>545599621Isn't SW pretty stale as a setting? Jedi with light-colored sabers, Sith with dark-colored sabers, the Force is super mystical and deep (been there, done that), the evil Empire and the righteous rebels... seriously, what is there left to explore?

Is there any reason Beamdog decided to name the difficulty where it reduces damage taken by 25%, stops your allies from being permanently killed, gives you max health each level, and makes spell writing guaranteed as "Normal Mode"?Also, what's with calling the "You'll never lose" mode Story Mode? >>545585343I guess it was Lann though I didn't realize it was a big choice at the time, just thought she'd be a little mad at me. I made it all the way to waking up in the inn before calling it a night, but it's growing on me. I do wish the swaps between real time and turn based were a little more automated, I would have liked it to do it automatically for boss fights or something. I'm sure it's suboptimal but I like that I accidentally picked the deity that everyone seems to worship so far since she seemed the most adventurer likely, nice synergy with the first companion and the big battle to try and retake the stone. It's a lot of reading though, and I don't know anything about the setting so most of it is lost on me.
