I think Azul was always meant to be sensual and seductive, but the Western fandom never realized this? The way he acts and talks, how he makes deals and convinces others, how he imitates Ursula. I think he was always meant to act more seductively and provocatively. But the Western fandom has a very nerdy, loser-like view of him, which I don't think fits the image he wants to project, even if he is that too, especially when he loses or exaggerates when he wins!
