I left a negative review for Wrath of the Righteous. I wanted to like it, and I did at first, but after a time the bullshit is just too much. You can use mods to fix some of it, but after a while I realized I was using mods to just skip most of the game. Ability drain, constant missing, the anti RPG design of expecting constant save scumming and only allowing a certain party configuration, the constant random encounters, the shitty crusade and map navigation, the walls of text, there's just nothing there but annoyance and bad decisions. Baldurs Gate 3 is the better game, and not just for production value. I hope Expanse is better but this has really withered my hype for it, at least in 2019 these guys didn't know how to make a good game at all. I guess I'll try Clair Obscura next.

And everyone expects undead, the game even gives you a cleric at the start with a second following not too long after.Wisps are kind of an out of left field thing but the first one you fight is entirely optional and something you can just come back to later when you have the tools. The only real obstacle it throws in the way early are the mites but I recall making my way through fine somehow. By the time you reach the more advanced enemies you should have all the tools to dispatch them.In wrath if you don't pick the right spells when leveling you can brick yourself. There are a lot more wisp like encounters where you can get caught out and need specific tools, and some aren't optional.
