You really should start out with multiplayer first. Anyhow, it very much depends on what engine or tech you are using. Just get text chat, ping, and player UIDs working first in a separate project. The only one who has any remote understanding of how long that would take to integrate into your project would be you.

No, but I'm used to places that are hot. And it can be normal in a Japanese way that is also nice. For example, I like listening to taiko drums performances but it's not easily done where I live because there aren't any schools that teach taiko drumming, so I can only do it when some taiko drum players come to perform here from other cities during tanabata matsuri and we don't even have one every year here. Perhaps in Japan I could go to the tanabata matsuri listen to the taiko drums every year, and maybe there would be taiko drums performances even in other times.

Unity. Adding multiplayer at the start would have been good but I avoided it. Anyways most of my lengthy code can avoid the issue of a rewrite as I only need the data it outputs in the end. I don't know how your game is architected, but in my current multiplayer project every item has to be spawned and despawned by the server which then propagates that change out to the connected clients.

If a client wants to throw a snowball they request to the server that the snowball be spawned, which then does some checks and spawns the snowball for everyone currently connected. Collision detection for a snowball only really happens on the server, as if it happened on the server and every client separately, you get weird results. Also when a client joins a game already in progress the server iterates over all currently active objects that have been spawned in that player's absence and then syncs the new player to the current state on the server.

I don't think multiplayer is something you can easily add later in a project, it pretty much has to be the first thing you do because every feature you implement revolves around it and knowing what the server and the client should be doing in relation to that feature.

They have a 30% cut... except actually that's only for you goyim
Yeah cause steam gives extremely favorable cuts to their bigger clients.
So a nontrivial amount of steam's profit is from filter feeding the 30% cut on volume/bulk... and yet they don't market your game at all. Majority of indies can't afford to market. If they have a budget at all it's 100% going into development.
If steam just marketed your games enough to get your WLRR from 0.1% to 0.2% on average then they would make twice as much profit.
I'm not even fucking joking, cause uhhhh duh if steam sold more games they'd make more money.
Steam is not doing enough for us indie devs, and they're literally doing it just to spite us against their own interests.

But it doesn't disregard the merits of the working man nor the thinking man. Though it does disregard the solely literate man. Someone who reads is more useless than someone who thinks or someone who doesn't think but simple does.
It's like this, we need people solving advanced engineering problems, and we need people to build/implement those solutions. We don't need people on xitter explaining why that's actually racist and homophobic and transphobic and not media literate.
It's a classic bell curve scenario, and I can actually explain why the bell curve meme is actually real.
A bell curve is randomly sampled, but if you measure within samples you will get a mixture of gaussian which is NOT a bell curve, it's a multimodal distribution. So when someone is very intelligent 130+ IQ, they will naturally bifurcate into their superior and inferior functions. Their superior will likely be something analytic and inferior be performative. Someone with a much lower IQ sub 100 can only do performative things so they're good at sports, they're good at building stuff etc. The low IQ and the high IQ actually compliment each other. Meanwhile the middle wits are underperformers in both functions and thus essentially zero sum and will over value simple and useless things.
Nepotism has no analytic or performance control, so you get averaged out middle wits most of the time. They're a pox on society. Literally the only existential purpose of middle wits is likely to do something socially useless but emotionally appealing.

I wanted to warn about a scam going on the v3expo discord some moderator is pming users and offering to give away 1 year of claude code and comet browser to make gamedev easier. They then give you invite link to comet browser which gets them 3 dollars and then they tell you to login with your gmail account, they tell you to login on mobile first to sync your mobile data like gmail, contacts, etc to it. Then this google account will be connected across multiple devices and they will steal your your data.
I tried telling the owner of the discord but he blocked my private messages.
