And all of this hammer needs an anvil, so some spearmen or silverin guard fit nicely. Throw some archers behind because why not. Talons of Tor Caleda deal fire damage so they're in. BAM. You got a Caledor army that balances power and budget, theme and minmax. You're looking cool, killing shit, and saving enough money to do it all over again for another Asur kingdom as Asuryan intended.

Empire is also too fractured in the early game, you can blitz through averland to sylvania and then up fighting drycha/azhag without too much hassle from the empire in general, racking up good boy points too, but once you get up there and confederate him, there's really not much to fight in clobbering range other than the Empire and their friends (Kislev, Dawi, and Dawi start hating you very easily), and the campaign is less interesting as a result imo. I've done good boy Skrag before (go west and krump rats and coast + grab the exotic animals resource building for fast recruitment of the monster chain, then east to krump more rats and orcs), being the guardian of civilization is kind of funny, though I do wish he had some kind of early dilemma to move somewhere else, that area feels a bit tired to me, although the roster is very strong.

Pharaoh has the best campaign map experience in the post-Rome 2 era and even Legend had to eventually fall back on focusing on the mediocre battles (which he cheeses out of actually playing anyway) and the time period just to find excuses to not play it. It's a shame. That's probably why CA is focusing on making M3 closer to a paradox game at the campaign level in order to keep some of those players around

If it didn't have the Total War brand it wouldn't even be discussed a year later. The worst part is that the bones are there, but even modders aren't interested in making a Medieval or Empire conversion mod out of it. The only campaign that kept my interest for a dozen hours was Suppiluliuma just because getting thunderstorms on battles was kino.
