I've been thinking a lot about an off-hand comment here where we're spending thousands of hours on a "a game for Chinese 12 year olds."It kind of took a while to hit but that's really all League is in its entirety in the end. There's e-sports and e-celebs for kids to hype up and imitate. The game is constantly changing and there's always "meta" content to absorb and regurgitate. There are superficial levels of strategy and number games but ultimately, the emphasis is on mechanics to just snowball a game (obviously you need game sense to climb but this is who the game is designed around, the core fanbase.) It's competitive but ultimately, you can blame everyone else. The games are long but you can force them to end by babyraging or carrying. There are ranks to boost per-pubscent egos. Everything about League is designed around a hyper-competitive children who are willing to "study" but not use critical thinking. The balancing team, game design team, and general cultural are all a downstream of this. Maybe there can one day be a MOBA that escapes the gravitational pull of Asian tweens and all of the resulting changes to game that eventually forces but that's not today. We are all ultimately at the whims of Chinese 12 year-olds.I mean, DoTA 2 escapes it but there''s another kind of "pull." Not sure what the effects of 40 year-old Russians playing your game are but it's definitely a different culture.

I build aegis/hollow radiance/gauntlet/sundered sky + mana item + boots + dead mans thats four items already. and all of these are better than jaksho and should be built before it. not to mention jaksho scales with your bonus resists and armors so its a bit silly to build it before having items for these resistances. if enemy team is ap heavy, force of nature and/or kaenic rookern are great. if fights are long, spirit visage and/or unending despair give you more than jaksho imo. if you need damage, sterak and/or eclipse, or sundered if you didnt build it earlier. bramble or executioner's take another slot and you need them in like half of the games. jaksho is universally good, these items are better in specific situations, and you will end up needing them instead most of the time.in the end your job is to either guard your carries or catch enemy carries. you need to be only as tanky as needed for that, building more resistances just for the sake of building more resistances is pointless, unless you actually don't need any of the items mentioned and have surplus of gold. also the more resistances you have, the less point in buying more since they are less effective. better to build something that heals you, gives you more value out of your shields, or just more damage, than stack resistances which change incoming damage reduction from 60% to 70%. if enemy doesn't have dedicated tank busters, 60% should be enough, if they have, 70% won't be enough either.

Poppy scales well with damage and if not for needing to survive lane bruiser poppy with some lethality items for spice might be viable. It IS viable on jungle so. Just experiment.

I have found it's most effective during a teamfight where you can skirt in, drop it, then Red Q out sort of thing since during the fray of a dragon fight the Kai'Sa isn't going to waste 1 to 2 autos on your turret. As a prior Aphelios main I can tell you that while there are "weak" combinations there are no "useless" combinations, otherwise the champ would be unplayable. You have to adjust your playstyle to the task at hand. Also don't forget that Turret + Chakram during some silly level 4 skirmish can net you a double or triple if you play it right.
