What is Daybreak app do on the Switch? All I know is that it's used to update the firmware. But why do I need to use it? Does it only update the emuMMC firmware? If I have 18.1.0 FW on my Stock Switch and if I use Daybreak does it update the emuMMC firmware to 21.0.0 and effectively giving me two firmware versions? Does that mean I can also change the firmware version to whichever I want and if I boot up into my stock Switch it's still 18.1.0?

Was thinking of getting a hacked Xbox 360, but there's less than 5 games I want to play on it, so I decided not to. Same with the Wii and WiiU. The games I want to play on there can be emulated so I'm okay.

Yeah, it has troon shit because of course the devs are mentally ill autists, but it works. You can even use the 3DS coins to buy some extra passes each day (10 in total per day IIRC).

My 3DS is on an old version of Luma and I'm scared that updating will brick it.

If it's really old, make sure you're booting with B9S first, and not A9LH. I recently updated mine to the latest Luma so I could run red-viper, and didn't even need to update the firmware.

Rec some wii games while I wait for my sdcard and controllers? And is there a way to use gc controllers as classic controllers when connected directly to the wii? Needing bluetooth sounds like insanity.
>>
>>550071934
Look on the bright side, Bravely Second also has a similar thing, so you can use netpass when you play that one kek

>>550101426
Depends. If you have a really old hack that uses A9LH, you'll need to upgrade to B9S. By "really old hack", I think it's something like Luma being on version 6. If it's version 7 or higher, it requires B9S.
From what I found online, there are a few ways to tell:
>if you have a boot.firm file in your SD, you're on B9S. If you have a file called arm9loaderhax.bin, you're on A9LH
>if you press select while turning the 3DS on, it should open the Luma settings menu. If it's version 6 or lower, you're probably on A9LH. If it's version 7 or higher, Luma requires B9S
That said, look around online to make sure when you're checking the version, I literally just clicked the first result that seemed more relevant.
If you're on A9LH, follow https://3ds.hacks.guide/a9lh-to-b9s.html to upgrade to B9S.
If you're already on B9S, you just need to update Luma by either manually copy/pasting the boot.firm file to the SD root (go to Luma's github to get the file), or using something like Universal Updater, and then you can update the console firmware without worry.
Bonus spoonfeed: if you happen to update the console before updating Luma, you won't be able to turn it on (or it turns on but only shows an empty menu like the console's new, don't remember exactly ATM). To fix it, just manually update Luma's boot.firm file on the SD.

no
It has like, 2 games on it. Both of which got ported to the Switch because they ran like shit on the N3DS. I've also seen load time comparisons. N3DS is only ~14% faster (20s on the N3ds vs 23 on the O3DS). I don't care about bigger screens.
>same with the vita and preferring the first OLED model instead of the later models
Again, no. I don't care about the OLED.

Most Vita stuff can be played on other consoles (either cross releases with PS4 or multiplat games). It's really good if you're into VNs, but other than that, the worth of most of the games that are still stuck on it depend on personal taste.
3DS has a good number of things stuck on it due to the dual screen stuff, plus it can natively run NDS games (flashcart or ndsbootstrap) and GB/A games (VC injection or agb_open_firm).

>>550132878
>It has like, 2 games on it.
Sure, but since the N3DS is about 3 times more powerful than the original, even if you don't care about the load times, it helps with framerate stability on non-N3DS exclusive games. Not to mention that Luma (the CFW) can force the N3DS to use the full speed on all games instead of "capping" itself to O3DS speeds on the games that weren't updated to use the extra power. The extra speed also makes for better emulation, especially for stuff like SNES.
On that note, the 3DS is actually a bit better to emulate nintendo stuff, the Vita struggles a bit more even with GBA
>"I don't care about emulating on the 3DS"
Then go for the O3DS, just be sure that you won't regret it later.
Something I almost forgot, if you care about the extra amiibo stuff that some games have, the N3DS has a built-in NFC reader, so you can just get something like the Allmiibo and use it directly. For the O3DS you also need to buy the NFC accessory separately.

I want to buy a 3ds also, but everywhere I look the screens are yellowing. I could probably replace them but I don't know if they make aftermarket parts for them.

I think I messed up somewhere. I was following a guide on how to do a fresh install.
>download fw (thzoria github (latest is fine, 18.1.0 for more sysmodule memory and no bt/battery bugs))
>update fw using daybreak (incuded in atmos(choose fat32+exfat))
I never had to do these two. Am I okay?
I was following an 'official' guide but they didn't want any piracy so they left the part out about sig/syspatches. Instead I followed some indian on YouTube and just downloaded his all-in-one zip file that had hekate, atmosphere and patches in it already. It was also not updated, it's using the second to last version of both. I don't really know where to find 'legit' patches and where I put it on my SD card. Where can I find sigpatches and where do I put it?
>>
>>550144562
no need to update fw if you're on >18.1.0, if you have a game you can't run on your version you can patch it using SAK
>patches
I literally mentioned in the post you quoted where to get them (google sys-patch gbatemp and find the newest file).
You should always get the latest hax files from their original sources (the githubs mentioned, or gbatemp posts) and never use packs or pre-built stuff as you do not know what's in them or what version they're on.

I got the newest patch, so do I just copy and paste everything and replace all duplicate files? The file I found in gbatemp has atmosphere files in it already.
>>
>>550147068
yeh just overwrite
>atmos files
they're not the files that atmosphere uses to run, or the atmos files themselves. The way things work is that certain mods, patches, cheats or similar stuff goes inside the atmosphere folder (and subfolders) but it's not atmosphere itself what you're placing onto your sd card.
The folder structure just comes that way so you copy over everything to your root, and avoid having to find the specific folder(s) you have to place the files in
>>
>>550147659
Okay. I was just worried that it had duplicate files.
I read somewhere that the official Atmosphere files don't have patches applied to them, so when I copy-pasted this it was asking me to replace files. Was confused as to why.
I'll probably start over and nuke my SD card, someday. The all-in-one zip file was nice since I didn't have to do extra steps (i don't even know if exosphere is installed properly and I don't know how to do it).
>>
>>550148592
You can sort of treat hax by layers. First is Hekate so you can boot into something before the official OS.
Then there is Atmosphere on top of that, which is just the official OS but custom made to enable homebrew.
If you do not consider piracy, the last layer would be mods and cheats for games, this goes on top of of the custom OS (atmos loads these files).
If you do consider piracy, then patches are an extra layer on top of atmos, and then on top of that comes mods and stuff, so it can be applied to pirated games too.
Applying the next layer shouldn't replace any files from the previous layer (if setting up from scratch), as they're each their own thing.
If you are updating hax files, then you will always have files to overwrite, as you are deleting the old stuff to place the new stuff
>>
>>550149197
Okay, now how do I get exosphere working? Or is it on by default?
>>
>>550151817
what do you need it for? it's part of atmosphere and you get it (and install it) when you copy the atmos files to your sd card. If a guide somewhere tells you to modify it, you shouldn't unless you know the exact reason for doing it.

Also this section was on the rentry guide:
>Something to note about NAND backups is that they can be compressed (with any file archiver like WinRar or 7-Zip) down to ca. 600MB (from the usual 29.1GiB/32GB) depending on what was on the internal storage of your Switch at the time of the backup (stuff that was on the internal storage but later removed/deleted also count).
But no matter what option I use to compress my backup it's still 29GB. After getting my used Switch and getting through the initialization I installed YouTube then backed it up. Tried compressing it and it was still huge.
>>
>>550161323
that low size only works if the switch is absolutely brand new, as the guide says even stuff that was there and later deleted will inflate the compressed size
>>
>>550160732
just use incognito and/or 90dns
for prodinfo blanking, I use NxNandManager. Just load your emunand from your sd there and hit the incognito button
>>
One more question before I leave and make dinner.
If I want to start all over can I just remove the SD card and reformat it and start all over again
OR
Do I still need to use my NAND backup? I have not done ANYTHING in my official firmware and everything was done on the EmuMMC.

yeah you can just nuke it and start over.
The backup is good if you mess with sysnand, but you're not so it's fine (don't delete it though).
This is how your sd card should look like after nuking and installing just the bare minimum and sigpatches. If you have more stuff it's probably from a pack or additional homebrew
>>

if you're sure it never went online then you can only fix it by restoring your nand backup, that you surely made when you hacked it. NTA but maybe. I think some stuff needed a normal internet connection instead of using Street/SpotPass.
That said, I don't know if Pretendo works with the Bravely games already. It's not mentioned on their site, so I'd assume not, but with some luck it might "just werk" without much issue, I guess you could try it and see.

Finished Majora's Mask on GameCube. I count 8 crashes - 5 after saving, and 3 during gameplay. It actually didn't feel that bad but maybe I got lucky. Is this playable? Yes if you get lucky too, but if you can play the version you want on any other platform, I recommend that instead. Here's my favorite screenshot just because.

I am still in 9.0.0 so I don't need the BD but when I eventually update I'll just buy my own.
Just because I also plan on backing up some stuff on BluRay disks so I have other uses for it. If it's a one time thing then don't buy one. Or you could, use it once, then return it. But that's kinda a dick move.

Ok i think i figured out my issue. If you have no games installed, applet installs may fuck up quite frequently. So the solution was to grab the smallest nsp of a backed up game i own and install that, then use it to launch normal awoo
>>
>>550569673
Yeah, this should be included in the rentry guide. I didn't want to connect to the internet to get an app so I can escape applet mode. So I was stuck. First I removed my SD card and all traces of the CFW install. Then I installed YouTube from the eShop. Then I restarted installing everything again.
Unfortunately 4chan guides are outdated and incomplete. I tend to follow reddit guides since it's a lot more thorough.

I remember years ago that taking a hacked Switch online would fuck games up, requiring them to be updated even though the latest update was installed, along with other Nintendo bullshit going on. Is that a non problem anymore? I've always kept mine offline because of that, but having to use a cable and undock every time I want to do something minimal is pissing me off.
I also remember custom themes making it so CFW wouldn't launch on a new update. Is that also a non problem anymore?

£130 for the normal and £170 on CeX, wtf you on about?
also, it's all praise but I have a 3DSXL and the fact agb_firm doesn't have suspend support, retroarch is dogshit, getting a good screen is like lottery, GBC games display is better on DS, TWL++ still crashes sometimes during suspend and takes some time to boot and exit from it plus the battery not being as good as it was (sure, you could do the mod like I did on my SP) makes it a sub-optimal console. you might as well get an emulation device which is faster and will play even more consoles, android and PC games. either that or a Switch Lite and shove Retroarch in it or a normal Switch if you want dock support. I checked the other day and it fits just fine inside my fanny pack, which has been popular among young people for a few years now. bonus points if you carry a 90s leather one like I do since the material stretches a bit and makes it less bulky
>>
>>550604212
Sorry I should've differentiated and said new 3ds. Im just appalled that an older console has appreciated in value over the years when I could've gotten it for a fraction of its msrp prior to 2020. I shouldn't be surprised in this clown world though!
Was only looking at the new 3ds cause my old 3ds xl has been collecting dust ever since the top screen got this weird lcd leakage and am too scared too buy parts and crack it open given its the top screen.
>you might as well get an emulation device which is faster
See id do that but not all games run great on emulator for the 3ds yet. Art academy is terrible on emulators.
>>
>>550605331
£210 on CeX, £140 in ebay. Pretty sure the New 2DS is the same but without the 3D, so will be cheaper.
But think, do you REALLY NEED it? Do you really go out and spend down time outside? If not then it's not worth buying. Hence why I gave up on the idea of buying an emulation handheld.
>>
>>550606996

So I am still below 20.0.0 on my Switch as I noticed incidentally that Nintendo changed something and there is less memory available after that for Atmosphere.

Now, that I'm on vacation I would like to install Hades 2 and Silksong. I am not using any mods on my Switch, so it shouldn't affect me anyway, but since I'm only upgrading emuNAND, sysNAND shouldn't be affected anyway and I could simply downgrade again just in case a need arises. Is this correct?

I'm on 21.0.0 from 19.0.0 now, installed the games and replaced the few .nro files I had.

It's nice to know I could go back if I would ever need to, probably will not happen.

Any advice for Switch giving me USB Not Recognized [USB Device Descriptor Request Failed]? It is set to auto RCM but I can't deliver a payload. Because MAME on Switch only goes up to the 2003 core, which isn't ideal. In the case of Outfoxies it didn't stutter when I tried it but had no sound and also graphical glitches. Sure, on something like Steam Deck or an Xbox with dev mode I'll stick with MAME but on Switch I'll compromise with AcA NSPs. They just werk and hell, recent releases now have 4 save state slots.

>>551103493
find another local place, iirc it really shouldn't be that hard to "repair" it given all they're gonna do is swapping the usb c module for a new one, aka they're trying to rip you off
>>
>>551103493
Do you have soldering equipment? Replacing the USB-C on a switch isn't that hard.
If not then go look somewhere else. It's so easy to replace the port on a Switch that no should be charging $120.

What the fuck, that's around the price that people ask to install a modchip on the Switch, they're 100% trying to rip you off. The USB-C has some microsoldering involved (at least from what https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rei--iBYVs shows) but it doesn't justify asking that price at all.
>>
>>551106682
second place offered $120 as well. I dunno if there's that many more local repair shops. what would be a fair price then?
>>
>>551116964
Like, $30-50? It takes at most 10 minutes to replace. And pretty hard to fuck up since there's no capacitors near the USB port to knock off accidentally.
It's such a simple job that if I had the tools I would do it myself.

Am I retarded if I buy these? I need a PS4 controller for sure. New PS4 controllers are getting rarer and rarer.
A second one and the PS3 controller is a backup. I am not dying to play the Vita and 3DS now and I'm going to Japan on my birthday next year anyways so I might buy it there instead. I can afford all these now, but it's still a lot of money that make me hesitate.

I can probably hold off on the Vita and 3DS and just buy them in Japan next year. If they go up in price then it's whatever.

Fuck it, thinking about it some more, you guys are probably right. I just bought one new PS4 controller for $90, tax and shipping included.
I don't need a backup YET and when I need a replacement I'll just buy a used one when the time comes. Same with my PS3 controller. I only ever use it when debugging my PS3 and I never use it to play games so it might lasts longer. And yeah, I guess I can survive emulating the 3DS. I'm in no rush to play games on there, same with the Vita. I can wait a year before I buy them.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne - The famous one, maybe the best one. Try Vanilla if you can into JP

Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha VS The Soulless Army - Taisho Japan aesthetic Megaten action RPG

Sly Cooper and The Thievious Raccoonus - Stylish stealthy platformer with a really vibey soundtrack

Tekken Tag Tournament - Fun fast 3D fighter with cool music

Tekken 4 - Controversial in the gameplay department but insane vibes and music

Tekken 5 - Everyone likes this one

Soul Calibur II - Cool tactical 3D fighter. Great single player mode!

Virtua Figher IV - Also a cool tactical 3D fighter, feels like a martial arts manga. Also has a great single player mode!

Silent Hill 2 - Interesting psychological horror game, very atmospheric

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Series - Pure fun.

Tales of The Abyss - Grand adventure action RPG with combo heavy fast combat. Cool sci-fantasy world, neat personal story

SSX 3 - Super stylish snowboard game with great track design!

SSX On Tour - Not as stylish, tracks are less distinct, but it has a good zen flow

Ookami - K-k-k-kino super beautiful Nihon mythology Zelda like but with action game combat

Ridge Racer V - I haven't played this one myself but the soundtrack interests me a lot

To add to this:
Persona 3 FES. I know there's a remake but the original still holds up really well.
Prince of Persia games. I was only a fan of the first game but the others are still okay.
.hack// games. Apparently a niche game. I loved the franchise so I might be biased.
Silent Hill. Another game with a remake. Originals are still a good game to play.
Jak and Daxter games. Has a PS3 port and the first two games has a recompiled PC port which is better. But you can still play them on the PS2.
Spongebob games. Collectathon games. Might not like it if you don't like that type of game and Spongebob.
Xenosaga games. People say they hated it but I loved it. A JRPG.
Red Dead Revolver. The first Red Dead game. I found it to be mid but if you like RDR2 then you might enjoy it too.
Odin Sphere. 2D JRPG. Has a lovely artstyle. Has a remaster on the PS3 which is better but you can still play the PS2 version.
GrimGrimoire. Same people that made Odin Sphere. Has a remaster on the Switch and PS4 which are also better.
God Hand. Action beat-em-up game.
Zone of Enders. Made by Hideo Kojima. Mech game.
Viewtiful Joe 2. Another beat-em-up game but with more cartoony style. Still holds up because of the stylized graphics.
>>
>>551407865
As a Blade fan I might have to give Xenosaga 1 another chance sometime. Teenage me got very bored by the hallway dungeons with no music but I'm less sensitive to that now.

I guess your switch 1 is your account's main console, so it has to go through that when you buy new games, or something like that.
>is it safe for my hacked switch?
If you're not a retard and have it properly setup, you can even use a hacked switch to play online with your legit games without getting banned. So the answer to that question depends on your setup.
>>
>>551413602
>If you're not a retard and have it properly setup
I have it properly set up. I use my pirated emu offline, and all my legit shit on the sys that goes online. So it should be fine if I go ahead and link the virtual card because it will go to my sys?
>>
>>551414237
I don't own a S2 so I'm just going off assumptions, but yeah you should be fine. As long as your S1 sysnand is clean (as in, never had any pirated games installed) and your emunand has been blocking Nintendo servers since you created it, you can go online on sysnand without getting a ban.
I'm not aware of people with clean sysnands getting banned because of the virtual card stuff or because of the account transfer to S2, but it's still the usual "try at your own risk" thing.
That said, when you mentioned
>tells me I have to pair a virtual game card with my switch to even start the game
Does it say you have to pair it on on S1 first, or does it give you the option to do it on the 2 right away? If you can do it on the 2, the just do it since you'll be playing there anyway.
It just means that if you happen to want to play that game on the S1, you'll have to "swap it" (like swapping a physical cart between two consoles, but with digital games), but you probably won't be doing that anyway.

It looks like the chip causing the power glitch has been running all week. I have no idea what to do. I don't have a lab power supply to revive the battery with microamps. I ordered a set of screwdrivers; I'll disconnect the chip and hope for a good power module.

any suggestions for fun shit to play on a hacked vita?
native, homebrew, emulated games that run well, whatever!
>>
My brother handed me his switch to install some games, however, shit happened

>Home menu, Metroid prime was already loaded
>save his progress just in case
>click home, nothing happens, hold home, the side menu comes normally
>try everything, but I just can't get to home menu
>fuck it, turn it off
>now emunand doesn't load, atmosphere logo comes up then nothing, sysnand is fine

After a bit of digging I assume Atmosphere is fucked or something, don't want to think the SD got fucked since it's fairly new but who knows.

I'm thinking of updating or fully reinstall Atmos to see if that works, but I wanted to know if you have any suggestions before I fuck everything up
>>
>>551454034
reinstalling atmos (the guide/faq in op explains what folders to delete, as simply copy pasting over the folders already there might not be enough) can at worst just remove some configs, usually it only fixes issues

if I want to use my LAN to copy/install games to my cfw Switch, what's the best method?
>>
And if I use DBI to install using MTP, and I'm on Linux, does it still work? I'm using Dolphin
>>
>>551441170
If you have AutoRCM you need to make sure it's powered ALL THE WAY OFF then charge it for several hours, at which point you can boot into CFW to take advantage of normal charging. Plug it into a PC to check RCM status, if it says RCM is go then plug it into your charger, and hold the power button for several seconds. Do not plug it in AFTER confirming it's fully powered off. That's the mistake some people make.

Is luma sort of buggy with a japanese 3ds? I bought one a year ago and started playing it again recently, and like maybe 1 in 10 times it crashes when you first start a game. The error codes don't seem to indicate hardware failure, and I haven't been able to find any useful information about this. Would running hardware tests be a good idea?

It works on any region. Your 3DS is probably dying or your SD card.

The larger the SD, the longer it takes to boot and load certain things. The best compromise for space / speed is 128gb max,

The largest games are less than 4GB iirc (and there aren't a lot of those to begin with), so 128GB should be fine for most of the stuff that isn't shovelware.

Nah 50bux was a fair rate a decade ago, it's not just soldering. You also have to spend time organizing orders, tardwrangling people who can't follow shipping or include component instructions, flashing / installing / testing whatever functions the mod was meant to enable, dealing with grifters trying to scam you for time and materials, and compensating for any fuckups you might yourself make.

Not worth it for just :20bux: an hour, and it's partially a retard tax on a very elective hobbyist interest anyway. Paid a GBATemp dood some 70 back in the day to dremel out a serial port and un-brick a new 3ds back when CFW was first out and somewhat risky to install, it's not an expense you're ever gonna enjoy but if you've ever taken consoles apart even just to replace shoulder buttons you know it's a pain in the dick worth compensation

I've been emulating an rpg with vita3k but bought a vita today and I'm trying to transfer the savefile over with the save manager app. I can't seem to get it working is this possible?

i never tried with saves but i remember transferring shit was a bit finicky in general on vita, post what you're doing exactly for starters like maybe you just missed a step or something
>>
>>551679039
I've tried a few different things so far.
First I've tried just copying the folder over from my PC to ux0:user/00/savedata/PCSG00489 which just gives me a corrupted save error when I launch the game.

I've also tried copying everything over except system.dat. My save files just don't show up in game when I do that.

Currently I've been trying to follow a post I found which involves backing up the save in vitasavemanager and then overwriting the files and then clicking restore but I don't feel too confident about this so far. Other than that I can only seem to find info about transferring saves from vita to vita3k
>>
>>551681827
never mind I got it. I had to use save manager plus instead. I'll write what I did to get this working cause it was a pain.
>format the save in savemanagerplus
>start new game on vita
>create a save file in the same slot as the one you want to import
>backup save with save manager plus
>in the savemanagerplus folder under /data overwrite all of the files with the same names
>go back to savemanagerplus app > restore
>launch game > load
it will still display the name and stats for the newly created save you made but will load into the one you imported

Just to follow up this shi. Everything worked out in the end.

I restored the backup successfully, however in homebrew menu all apps had the message "this app doesn't support the current ABI". Apps like DBI crashed and troonfoil didn't even launch. I assume it was an issue with atmosphere (using 1.10 with fw 9.0.1), which I couldn't fix so I tried to downgrade to 1.9.5 iirc and that magically fixed everything.

I only restored the saves I needed with >>551492545 and it worked beautifully. LCDs are prone to yellowing due to uv exposure, heat and maybe humidity, mostly because of their build quality and because of the fact that they're portable, so they get exposed way more than a monitor or TV, the switch having a plastic screen instead of glass doesn't help, but it's not as bad as the 3DS or Wii U days

LCD tech has come a long way but they can still put cheap screens prone to yellowing in modern hardware

I updated to the latest version on switch on my emu because I like to have my sys and emu on the same version when I have to update.
On emu my games run fine when disconnected from the internet (which means it probably isn't my sigpatches) but when connected the game runs in a loop and won't load. Is that because of the retarded game card shit and is there a way to fix it? Also it seems like all my .ovl overlays are crashing even though I updated them individually for the lastest switch version. Does tesla also need to be updated and is the update anywhere because the github was abandoned as far as I know because the "final" version was released. Or is this because of the memory issues the latest update has? Did the memory allocation change a lot from 20.0 to 21.1? I was on that before with no problems.
>>
Fucked something up somehow with my switch
getting nagged for a system update even though I have hosts file blocking it and now I can't boot into any homebrew off of my gamecard

looked it up and goldleaf is an option (cant use it because of the update nagging)
and maintenance mode (I booted into maintenance mode and it didn't clear the update on my emunand obviously)

Am I just boned? Have to redo my emunand perhaps? Is it because I made the partition while I had a pending update on my SYSNand?

I still can't access nintendies servers so the hosts file does work

Okay, another problem
I'm in gold leaf and it says there's no pending update but it won't launch the PHYSICAL GAME that I have inserted and thus cant get into the actual HB menu only the applet mode by using the album

I've tried removing any pending updates for the game itself which there shouldnt be any, but still it wants me to update
>>
>>551859437
Removed the game with goldleaf, reinserted the card, it's got hosts blocked, airplane mode, the icon for the update has disappeared

still refuses to launch and prompts me to download an update for the game (not system update)

And u can’t discuss such things anywhere “private” or else they may lose their precious discord room.
Is the only option left is to paypig one of those “VIP tier” sites to get everything day one without dealing with the usual hassle? What a sad state

telegram was a place you could do that, but then russian CEO was kidnapped, now telegram takes down stuff on behalf of Nintendo just like discord does.

discord and telegram doing takedowns on behalf of nintendo basically is worse for discord, as the karma upvote farmers (such as archbox, who got sued, defaulted and lost), who run these things, have very shit opsec, and don't want to lose their discord accounts/server/have discord legal show up.

thankfully the redditor arc is mostly over, and the entire "jits" crew deleted their own existence after their scapegoat got got ("archbox")

>absolutely not, but hekate should not run atmos (or any homebrew/overlays/patches) if you set it up properly
Anon I've been going online with atmosphere on sys for years with no problems and no bans. Even with modded games. You don't need to keep a completely sys. I mainly want to know what syspatch does differently from sigpatches and if I need to turn syspatch off for my sysMMC.
>>
>>551983847
I believe you but I wouldn't uses patches on sys. Anyways sys-patch and sigpatches essentially do the same thing, but in different ways. sys-patch applies patches to your atmos system files on boot, whereas with sigpatches you download already patched files and replace the ones on your sd
>>

So if I use the overlay to turn off syspatch for my sysMMC that would probably be fine? I also have sigpatches installed already.

Unfortunately, yes, it's fucking shit. If you don't have internet access you can't jailbreak your PS4 for the first time. And if all the sites gets taken down then you're also just stuck.
However there are other ways. You can host your own website with the jailbreak. It's not hard to find and set up. Another way is if you go to the website and download the cached version you can connect to the 'website' without internet access. This is because the website is already saved in your PS4. Just don't wipe the data or else you lose it. So yeah, if you're worried about websites being taken down then just host it yourself.
Or upgrade to 11.0 and use the BD method. Which isn't ideal either because if your disc player ever gets broken you can't ever jailbreak the console again.
Best to just stick to 9.0.0 and host your own website.

nfim_ctest is actually nifm_ctest, which force-enables network without verification from nintendos connectivity test domain (ctest)

though unfortunately that spelling error got distributed and continued for years, and now new patches for it gets still shared under nfim_ctest folders

sys-patch has all of those patches anyway, "kip_patches" doesn't exist anymore anyway, hekate's /bootloader/patches.ini is how to use that kind of patches.

(not that you need them, sys-patch can do all types of patches, except for .NRO patches)
>>
>>552150594
>hekate's /bootloader/patches.ini is how to use that kind of patches.
I think I already do something like this but where's the documentation for this if people don't already know?
>>
>>552152775
https://github.com/CTCaer/hekate/blob/master/README.md

it requires using hekate

it requires your boot entries being
pkg3=

it requires
kip1patch=nosigchk

example:

[CFW - FSS0 emuNand]
pkg3=atmosphere/package3
kip1patch=nosigchk
emummcforce=1
"exefs_patches" are an atmosphere concept, loaded by atmosphere's loader reimplementation.
"kip_patches" was an atmosphere concept, loaded by fusee, but atmosphere removed the functionality to load them
"patches.ini" is an hekate concept requiring hekate's bootloader instead of fusee, which is the "pkg3=" method paired with kip1patch= configuration

atmospere 1.10 introduces gay stuff like forcing TLS 0x110/0x180 preventing tls 0x108 homenbrew from running.

tinfoil uses tls 0x108.

go atmosphere 1.9.5
sys-patch 1.5.6

if you don't care about homebrew applications not working

atmosphere 1.10.1
sys-patch 1.5.9

firmware version agnostic.

but 21.0.0+ requires atmosphere 1.10.0+

tl:dr do not use atmosphere 1.10.0+, but do update to max 1.9.5 to gain the benefits of its feature upgrades compared to your existing 1.7.1, without useless kernel restriction of tls 0x108 which is supposed to only be an issue in 21.0.0, applied retroactively because it's in atmospheres kernel (mesosphere) (bad)

>>552157870
>fuck, so what's the solution for newer games?
tl:dr
firmware version 20.5.0 + sys-patch 1.5.6 + atmosphere version 1.9.5

the cismodule situation with memory reduction only an issue if you're an idiot hoarding them.

just using the overlay gimmick and sys-patch, there is more than enough memory.

but it gets reduced more and more the closer you get to 21.1.0

19.0.0 is where it starts, but 19.0.0 has voltage bug, so realistically 19.0.1
>>
>>552157870
>I skim through hbg threads so I read you can patch games to run in older firmwares.

misinterpretation.

some games by third-party developers have a lower sdk version used, but higher master key revision than needed.

those games you can re-encrypt and re-sign with homebrew signature key (requires FS/loader patches), and they will run on low(er) firmware, assuming the sdk version matches with the low(er) firmware versions.

beyond that, no you cannot patch games that require a future sdk version greater than the one you currently have.

it's such a hassle doing what i just described, that you're better off updating to 20.5.0, as there's no games requiring 21.0.0+ or it's master key revision.

nintendo also officially kind of eol'd switch 1 and is no longer developing games for it anymore.

>>552170624
I'm just surprised that the problem is exclusive to PS3
I have a Vita and music sounds fine (although I should check it with headphones on desu)
>>
>>550749127
Do not zero/null the HDD key now as it breaks Insignia. Just check the original key with whatever exploit you have e.g. Endgame and format a drive with that. Or just use Chimp if you have a molex Y-cable since it's easy and clones everything for you.
But since your post is weeks old now I'm curious if you already took care of it. Report back if you're still with us.

Everyone, quickly list games that fall into that description so I can buy it before you.
>>
>>552171285
My recollection is that it's exactly the same encodes on PS3 and Vita and I looked into it because I thought only the Vita version would have audio that bad, surely, and I was baffled that it was the same on PS3.

Update to 10.00 and use Netflix
>>
>>552179431
Can I keep my activated account for saves with that one? And use it without internet connection?
>>
>>552179945
Yeah. In fact you can skip the Netflix bit straight to the Youtube bit if you're already hacked
>>
>>552184142
Nice! thanks anon! While I was looking around, I saw the PS5 ROM keys were just leaked. Does this mean we could be getting a CFW soon?

I heard it was Forbidden Siren

My brother bought a switch 2 and gave me his oled switch since he never uses it anymore.

I have an original switch that's softmodded and an unmodded animal crossing switch. If I don't give a shit about the oled getting banned, should I just get a migswitch flashcart instead of going through the hassle of getting a modchip installed?

I have a soldering kit but 10 minutes into a youtube video for modding it I knew I am gonna fuck the switch up if I try myself.
>>
>>552186691
concord is not a BR game
>>
>>552200369
the migswitch is very VERY limited so, given it's that cheap either, i'd say to go for the modchip instead. The chip itself should be like 5 bucks, the issue is finding someone that will do it for you and won't ask too much money

I got a ps5 on latest firmware too should I keep that offline? do sony need to change all the keys or something?
>>
>>552200369
The MIG can only play dumps from carts, so that means that games that are digital-only won't work on it. Even then, I think it has to be a specific format, or needs a few extra files compared to a softmodded/modchipped Switch.
It also can't use files for DLCs or updates, unless they're the kind that's included in the some physical version - for example, to play BotW with the updates and DLC on the MIG, you'd need to use a dump from the JP version that has the game, update and DLC all in the cart.
The MIG costs around 60 bucks, and the dumper is an extra 60, IIRC. For that price, you can probably just order the modchip off aliexpress for the 20 or so bucks they cost, and then use the rest to pay for someone to solder it onto the OLED.

is it safe to mod ps4 and use it online with pirated games in order to get trophies (naturally) or does sony still crack down on that shit

You can't access the PSN without the latest firmware.

A few months ago there was a exploit fkr ps4 that required a specific game, then ppl figure out how to make copies
Can the same be done here?
>>
>>552246076
No one knows. But just know that this won't be the only way to jailbreak a ps5. I still remember when the PS2 was only jailbreakable with a certain DVD. And look at where it is now. If you don't have the game disc they want then just wait. Don't spend money on a game just because you want to jb a PS5, that has no games by the way.

prices are only going to climb, through next year. and I wouldn't expect them to come down much after that. We're never going to see those all-time lows ever again. just look at where we are 5 years after the supply chain crisis. Buy the tech you need sooner, rather than later, for whatever price you can live with. Don't be afraid to check used markets.
