What is Daybreak app do on the Switch? All I know is that it's used to update the firmware. But why do I need to use it? Does it only update the emuMMC firmware? If I have 18.1.0 FW on my Stock Switch and if I use Daybreak does it update the emuMMC firmware to 21.0.0 and effectively giving me two firmware versions? Does that mean I can also change the firmware version to whichever I want and if I boot up into my stock Switch it's still 18.1.0?

Ok i think i figured out my issue. If you have no games installed, applet installs may fuck up quite frequently. So the solution was to grab the smallest nsp of a backed up game i own and install that, then use it to launch normal awoo

Finished repasting and replacing the thermal pads my PS3 and getting a new CMOS battery. It's now really quiet. Never been opened since we bought it in 2009. It was fucking dusty. idle temps are 50C. Apps like DBI crashed and troonfoil didn't even launch. I assume it was an issue with atmosphere (using 1.10 with fw 9.0.1), which I couldn't fix so I tried to downgrade to 1.9.5 iirc and that magically fixed everything.I only restored the saves I needed with >>551492545 and it worked beautifully. Although for some reason nxnandmanager didn't show Metroid's title so I had to search the title ID, but once I followed the guide everything worked. I hope I didn't end up with a frankenCFW but if it starts acting up again I guess I'll just nuke the whole thing and start fresh

Noob question but, can downloading an nsp or xci file brick your Switch? Like if it's corrupted or something? I remember way back when some Pokemon games were new that there were fake files going around that would cause a brick.
A friend has an unpatched Switch with Taiko and lots of bought songs, but there are a lot more. He got a Switch 2, so I will put an emunand and try to install it. On gazelle I see a lot of songs. I updated to the latest version on switch on my emu because I like to have my sys and emu on the same version when I have to update.On emu my games run fine when disconnected from the internet (which means it probably isn't my sigpatches) but when connected the game runs in a loop and won't load. Even then, I think it has to be a specific format, or needs a few extra files compared to a softmodded/modchipped Switch.It also can't use files for DLCs or updates, unless they're the kind that's included in the some physical version - for example, to play BotW with the updates and DLC on the MIG, you'd need to use a dump from the JP version that has the game, update and DLC all in the cart.The MIG costs around 60 bucks, and the dumper is an extra 60, IIRC. For that price, you can probably just order the modchip off aliexpress for the 20 or so bucks they cost, and then use the rest to pay for someone to solder it onto the OLED.
