No amount of sword buffs is suddenly gonna make you use the sword more. You’re using the gun more because just like in real life, dealing damage at a distance is safer and more efficient. Of course you’re gonna be taking potshots at the enemy majority of the time until a good opportunity arises to close the distance and go to town with your sword, because otherwise you’re gonna be standing there doing nothing. Take a look at what a melee only character is doing when you’re playing defence, they’re holding the line, not over extending, and just waiting for the enemy to get too close to attack them. Same as when they’re fighting fliers. They’re waiting for someone else to deal with them or for the flier to step out of a safe position. But you can bet your ass that if they had a secondary gun weapon they’d be spamming the shit out of it too instead of waiting for an opportunity to melee. It’s not a design flaw, it’s just the common sense. And another thing, there is no chance in hell the sword will ever do as much damage or more than the gun because the game is balanced around poke dealing twice as much damage as melee due to melee not requiring aim. Compare how many hits all the melee characters take to kill a target to the poke characters. Mag takes 5 shots to down a 250 hp target. Cap takes about 12 hits. Strange takes about 5 shots too. Wolverine takes 9-13. Bucky takes about 3 shots. Hulk about 12 hits. They’re all like this. Melee in this game is a battle of attrition while poke is a battle of accuracy. You can also tell this is the case because every time you start taking damage as a melee character mid kill, you have to abandon the kill unless you start getting healing, because you will die before you can secure the kill.

Adam is better on brawl and against poke. i genuinely do not understand how you play thor or rogue. every single time i attempt to play these characters i have NO fucking idea how to approach the enemy team, i am constantly paired with healers that don't heal, and i have no idea how to approach a team spamming poke characters. this is the reason every defaults back to mag and emma. in the poke meta if you can't mitigate damage on yourself it's like pulling teeth to approach an even semi-coordinated enemy team
