I don't know if Voicefag is still here but I would like to point out that alternate continuities under Sonic Team were never exactly free. Only the movies and Archie get free reign and Archie only got that way because it was basically unmonitored. For example. In Sonic Boom, boomnic's most OOC dialogue is always localized in japanese to be closer to what games Sonic would say. I think if Paramount wasn't completely out of Sega's control, Movie Sonic would have behaved differently. At least as far as I can tell, Sonic Team was never on board with the idea of different Sonic iterations having distinct personality traits.

You can still have Sonic lose without compromising his character, I mean in SA Eggman was able to snatch the Emeralds by fucking gassing Sonic and Tails or by tricking Knuckles into fighting Sonic and taking their Emeralds when they get knocked out (or just grabbing the Emerald Tails is holding after Sonic beat him). In all those cases Eggman beat Sonic in those scenarios while still losing in the end and Sonic winning without needing to change.

For having a longer run than all of the other Sonic voice actors, Roger at this point should have at least one good role with Sonic, and that just isn't the case. He fucking sucks, and is the worst VA the rat has ever had, and yes I fucking include the Sonic Schoolhouse one. I hate Roger with every fiber of my core being. They just dont want to hire new VAs because Roger works for pennies and hiring new talent would cost more than what its worth to keep on the mediocre talent so we wont ever see better VAs outside the movies.
