From the way they talked about things in the interview it almost seemed to imply all your battles would be like quest battles and there is no marching your armies across a map and encountering and battling other armies. Also, a bit worried about factions feeling too gimmicky, especially eldar and sm not having traditional tw mechanics
tried out the fort maps mod and I'll have to disable it because it lobotomizes the AI if they happen to be in a recruitment stance and just makes them stand in a tiny square with no aggression or counterattack. It was nice though for Cathay caravans because it let you defend yourself better.

I don't understand what 40k Total War will look like at all. If they take the entire universe, it will be too vast. If they take a small part of the universe it will be too limited. In Fantasy this problem did not exist because the empire is the obvious central player whereas in 40k the Imperium is very fragmented and has a lot going on.
I remember the days before Total War: Warhammer 40,000 was confirmed.
Initally, I thought most of the planets on the 40k map would be interconnected, but then I actually saw the "map" in the trailer and it's just a linear path with a bifurcation here and there. Game is a MOBA now.
