Were there any changes related to portable connectors with gas tanks on top? I'm 100% certain there was a way to only let the gas from the liquid pipe network escape into the gas tank while the liquid stayed in the liquid pipe. asteroid LANDEDI am DONE, I am willing to call this the victory condition. Bit disappointed that you don't even get to see it land, it just takes you to a waiting screen and when you go back the new asteroid mineral deposits are there.CoI surprises me in that I really think it's harder than Factorio, and a playthrough takes longer - this one must have been 130 hours for me over the last 5 weeks. It's made me realise I probably have an unhealthy relationship with these autism games. One of the most troublesome parts was bootstrapping the fast breeder reactors to get a constant output of 20% uranium for the asteroid boosters.thanks for coming to my TED talk

https://files.catbox.moe/84xlnh.webmI must have had a stroke or something. The first cargo plane hovers perfectly, compensates for wind, stays steady even with containers throwing off the weight distribution etc. I can't get the new plane to hover steady -at all- Sure the low wing vs high wing is inherently less stable but there must be something else wrong>>550730917Mate I've got adjustable p, i, and d in the cockpit I can't get it work.
>>550730917GUNBUSTER DOOR GUY, WE MEET AGAIN.
>>550732324You clearly have an overshoot problem.Someone said turbines react slowly. Use a less aggressive tuning and/or fix the intergrator windup
>>550733237>turbineDucted fans. They're stupidly slow to react and only really good for static thrust, or need pitching propellers to tide you over until they can spin up or down.Another way is a tilting/rotating setup for vectoring thrust from a constant RPS fan. Though I doubt such a thing could be even remotely stable in anything stronger than a mild breeze.
>>550734039Solution, I'm not him but like use Rotors.
>>550734039>>550736509Mechanically the shitty second plane that doesn't work is almost identical to the first plane that works perfectly so the hardware probably isn't the problem. The second plane looks better, has an airtight cockpit and cargo bay, has one reactor instead of two and rocket engines for going to space. It's supposed to be better in every way but something in the logic/flight controls is fucked up it's so frustrating.
>>550736509Exactly. Though, I dread to think what unholy fuckery you'd need to subject your PID controller to, in order to incorporate BOTH the slow-reacting fans, and quickly-responding rotors.Best I can come up with, is using fans to achieve stable hover and minimal vertical speed and keep it that way, then use rotors for altitude correction and turning.I really want to like them, but they're just so difficult to use effectively, that I simply bite the bullet and use rotors or aircraft propellers for main propulsion.>>550736956Maybe something's wrong with it's weight distribution?I doubt cockpit aerodynamics could affect it to such an extent. But, a sufficiently shifted center of mass could, realistically, throw off the attitude control. And double-check if all sensors, control surfaces, and all the other important bits are connected, just to be sure.
>>550737938Have you seen the video in >>550732324The original plane was so stable that drastically shifting the CoM by loading a container into the nose or into the tail doesn't bother it at all.
>>550732324i've fixed a number of vehicles posted on steams forum, but those were simple rookie creations with dumb mistakes, like messed up pipelines or missing exhaust outlets, etc. you were building the cargo aircraft for like half a year, and the new one is probably just as complex, with lua blocks and such - it will be a real pain to troubleshoot anything.
>>550623061Timberborn's worth it too (for a try at the very least), there's been a steady stream of updates recently and they even improved the loading times a bit though that wasn't hard to do

>>550728765please give me some (you)s fellow CoI anons, I am a broken man after this playthroughHere's the nuclear spaghetti that was required to make the space probes, I was running one fast breeder reactor in maximum breeding mode while using the super steam for water-splitting to power all my hydrogen-fired kilns for concrete and alumina. I keep testing wall designs in sandbox and all I'm seeing is that all the dragon's teeth or flame funnels I can come up with still get eaten, cause robots to fly out and constantly die. Whereas just a basic straight wall, with a sufficient amount of turrets behind it, just causes some damage that's repaired with repair packs and doesn't cause any bots to die even on humongous waves, and actually causes even fewer walls to die. The only downside is significantly higher ammo usage but the major upside is the complete lack of bloop-BEEPBEEP! bloop-BEEPBEEP! on every attack wave.Am I building my defenses wrong? Are there any good proven wall designs that don't result in the dragon's teeth or whatever just getting eaten and the bots suiciding into flames and acid to rebuild them, even on big behemoth-filled waves, while still slowing the biters down to reduce ammo usage and give flamethrowers the most time to clean up? Or do I just say fuck it and build a flat wall and set up lots of uranium ammo production
>>550784134Post your designs
>>550785715Here was my attempt at making a "funnel" to get all the biters into a straight line in front of my flamethrowers. The weird section in the middle was originally just a straight wall, then I tried making it a wedge, then I tried opening it and adding extra passages. I know the current shape is shit but the point is that the general design doesn't work, no matter what there will be biters getting stuck between the entrances and eating the walls.
>>550785715>>550786354And here's me going back to basics and trying some very simple dragon's teeth, spaced out far enough apart for behemoths to fit. Nope there's still always a few autistic spitters or some shit that get stuck and decide their goal is to eat one of the pillars, causing my bots to start flying out over the massive flames the rest of the attack generated.
>>550784134Basically no. Biter pathing is pretty bad, there's pretty much no way to ensure that none of them get stuck on any type of dragon's teeth design. With flamethrowers, there's no point in anything other than a straight wall design. The bots flying over flames is too much of a headache for anything else to work. If you really need to slow down biters for some reason, use tesla turrets.
>>550786354I think biter AI is going to attack if the path it draws is occupied by something (be it walls or rocks), so funneling isn't really going to work as intended.>>550786512This one seems better, have you tried reducing the width of your dragon teeth? Try starting from one or two rows and then adding more as you seem fit, testing each time, so that they go for the turrets and get killed by the flamthrowers and don't attack your dragon's teeth.I think even your basic wall is already overkill, at least for standard biters. A simple line of turrets and damage research should be enough.
>>550784134>>550787518Actually I said fuck it and doubled up the frequency of the funnels even more, and all of a sudden it actually works. The flames do the overwhelming bulk of the damage, all the biters walk into the narrow flames, and the turrets just clean up the spitters that make it close enough to shoot. Sometimes a spitter or two gets off a shot on the flamethrowers, but it's completely safe to repair. Adding another row of turrets ahead of the current furthest row makes it happen less often but costs like 10-20% more uranium ammo so it's not worth it, repair packs are way cheaper and the repairs are completely safe.Even massive waves with probably like dozens of behemoths and easily a couple of hundred of total units all nicely path into the hallways and all die to the concentrated flames.Very very rarely one of the outside walls gets damaged but because the biters never make it inside the walls, the flames are always outside the wall, and so even repairing a far wall is relatively safe for the bots if they don't get too unlucky.>>550787556The problem with the second design is that because the teeth walls are outside of the main wall, they're going to be in the middle of where the flamethrowers shoot, so the bots are going to suicide directly into flames. The kill-corridor design is much better due to the fact I described above where bots never have to repair a wall that's currently on fire.
>>550787556Also>I think even your basic wall is already overkill, at least for standard biters. A simple line of turrets and damage research should be enough. In theory yes but with sustained attacks the turrets would likely die at some point. I want to avoid the constant BEEPBREEN of entities dying.Actually let me test this real quick.Yeap it's not great. Not only is ammo consumption easily 5-8x what it was with my wall above, but also turrets keep dying every single attack. Granted I haven't unlocked any infinite damage research in this editor world, but I did test with a double row of turrets rather than a single one so it should have had more damage than a "simple line of turrets" even after a half-dozen infinite researches (till say the 128k or 256k level).
>>550682327>>550682373making 2.0 backwards incompatible was stupidit unnecessarily fractured the ecosystemI don't care how much of an improvement the new rails are, they should have found a way to make it work without breaking all the modsthe other big mistake with Space Age was, they should have made it so you can start the game on any planet and still play it to completionsomething like how Into the Breach does itit would synergize with the sandbox nature of the game and encourage challenge runsinstead it's this weird semi-linear campaign that imposes a particular structure on every mod and limits possibilitiesbasically you can see how 1.0 was the result of a decade of early access and gathering feedback from the community, while 2.0 was tested mostly internally and so it only caters to a specific play style
>>550793626Yeah I do kinda wish I could break myself of the Vulcanus>Fugg>Gleba cycle but I just can't kneecap myself like that.I tried the Gleba-only mod but bitched out after stompers started spawning while I only had just automated materials. Since they're basically immune to yellow ammo the run was over.
>>550761795When you start "getting it", one of the things you will immediately want to do is scale up production. In Factorio this is easy because blueprints and bots exist. In Satisfactory, this is impossible because the blueprints are space limited. In a game where the building space being expanded, is the main selling point. This means you will spend much more time in Satisfactory fucking around instead of building the factory. Which most players don't even seem to mind, since they enjoy "decorating" by using tranny pride colors on their buildings or whatever. Also the developers are faggots compared to the giga aryans behind Factorio.
>>550793626>making 2.0 backwards incompatible was stupiddo you not know how versioning works?major releases by definition are releases that break thingsif they could have made all of the features without breaking anything, there would have been no need for a new major release and they'd release just some new 1.x version
>>550804848Okay, so if they made 2.0 backwards compatible, then it wouldn't be called 2.0. Stop being so pedantic. Also it's not like semantic versioning is a law, devs can do whatever the fuck they want.

Retrogaming communities are debating on how to separate old games that still receive updates from old abandoned games because at this point, you can't argue they're too recent to not be retro. Terraria today is older than: Crash bandicoot 2, Spyro the dragon, tomb raider 2, mario party, Zelda ocarina of time, Metal gear solid, half life, resident evil 2, thief, baldur's gate, unreal, quake 2 were when terraria was released.Want to feel even worse? In 3 years, warframe will be considered retro-updated. Like league of legends and minecraft. TF2 is obviously retro gaming. Dishonored was released 13 years ago. The semi automatic marble collector. It automatically sets the target to the next asteroid field and the launcher blueprint notifies me when it has launched 40 collector probes. I guess I could use some automatic blueprinting mod to cut down on the manual actions, but I would still have to pick a landing spot manually in each zone. I may be brainlet. I have an artillery train whose schedule consists entirely of the artillery outpost station, so it does rounds around my perimeter, and an interrupt to go resupply if either the shells run low or if "destination full or no path" i.e. all the outpost stations have been recently visited and are disabled. It works like a treat.I'm now building the schedule for my ammo and shit resupply train, and I want to have similar logic - go back to the home refill station if all the perimeter resupply stations are disabled OR if any item runs low. This would be trivial if I could set an item condition of "Anything = 0" in the interrupt, but the Anything signal doesn't seem to be selectable. I have a dozen different items I'm resupplying on this train and I really don't want to add each of them as individual conditions to my interrupt, is there any particular reason why Wube disabled this or did they just decide there was no usecase?I feel like I'm going to have to add a separate circuit to read the contents of the train and check if anything's missing and send a "go resupply" signal back to the train externally at every single resupply station.

>>551062303Yeah- but valves were meant as a passive counterpart to the active nature of a pump, and are not meant to repressurize. >>551054913>No incentive to genuinely optimizeModern problem. 2.0 vanilla has such a hilariously cheap recipe for space rockets due to the removal of RCUs and lower overall cost that you can win the game with a micro factory. Space Age itself just needs 5 very small factories and a bunch of platforms harvesting infinite resources for free. Which is why Quality was invented because it's a resource sink. You are intended to expand the factory in order to get the throughput of resources needed to get every product to legendary. The problem being that who gives a fucking shit about quality. Do 1:8:1 trains go the same speed as 2:8 trains?
>>551069757my understanding is that top speed is unaffected, but acceleration will differ depending on the fuel type used. Nuclear and rocket fuel can smooth over a lot of other factors.
>>551069757if the locomotive at the back is facing forward, i think so
>>550970790Attempt 3. Still sub-optimal.
>>551069757>>551070905Yes, as far as I know there are only three factors determining the speed and acceleration of a train (assuming the same fuel, same locomotives, and same quality of course): the total push force, i.e. number of locos, total weight of the train (i.e. length), and the air resistance of the front facing entity. Wagons and locomotives have different air resistance though I forget which one is more aerodynamic.Since a 1-8-1 keeps the same number of locomotives, the same total number of different pieces of rolling stock, and the same piece is in front determining air resistance, it should behave completely identically.
>>551073914In terms of streamliningLoco = backwards loco > wagon >>>>>> artillery wagon.Arty wagons have wicked drag which I guess makes sense. Otherwise the additional drag from putting a wagon first is negligible most of time, and drag force is reduced the heavier a train is overall.
>>551073914>>551074529I looked it up. Loco = 0.0075, wagon = 0.01 and arty = 0.015.So a wagon is 33% times worse than a loco, and an arty is 50% worse again. Not great not terrible.Apparently there's also a friction value, which is identical for all vanilla rolling stock. I wonder if any mod ever has actually used custom friction for trains.

Steam to water ratio doesn't matter temperature is how fast it boils water to make steam if your boiler is filling up with steam then adjust temp usually if hot setup 180 is fine, otherwise 160 to 125 then 115 at minimum. Steam pistons their throughput is terrible and it doesn't help pipes are capped at 100 your plumbing arrangements should dictate total throughput of how many pistons and how fast and the pipe cap then more pipes or less, distance doesn't matter from my understanding. Steam exhaust should be 0.02 or less if you've got high exhaust pressure then your capped. Condensers suck but are required. Only needs four sciences and the cost increases something like 3x slower than base game. I got to mining prod 30 on literally just my starter base.>>551098658Asteroids are extremely UPS unfriendly and UPS is the final bottleneck of factorio. If you're not building a UPS-limited factory then you can do almost anything and asteroids are not even that much better than anything else, they're fiddly and building space platforms is massively annoying.Vulcanus literally gives you infinite fluid metals as a feature with WAY less effort than asteroids harvesting (yes yes you need calcite but you need so little of it that it doesn't matter, or you can use asteroids for infinite calcite with 100x less throughput than if you were using asteroids for everything). Gleba gives you infinite renewable materials from everything if you're high IQ enough to scale the loops. And as mentioned above mining prod was buffed so much that even nauvis is perfectly viable for late game bases, especially combined with big miners and even more so quality big miners - you get like 1G+ equivalent patches all around your spawn. The only advantage asteroids have is that they're "infinite" but resources are cheap on basically every planet except aquilo (and arguably fulgora because it's just a headache). So the advantage of asteroids is very minor but the disadvantages (lag and annoyance factor) are pretty big.

Mathematics are FICTION.If numbers are abstract objects, how can the human brain know them? It is impossible for a physical being to know an object that cannot interact with it. Because mathematics is actually fictional. Take Harry Potter. He does not exist in our space-time. You can't bump into him on the street; he has no mass, no atoms. If we looked for Harry Potter in the physical universe, we wouldn't find him anywhere. In the same way, the number 3 or a perfect circle do not physically exist. You never stumble upon the number 3 on the street. On the other hand, even though Harry Potter doesn't exist, we can say things about him:“Harry Potter is a wizard” --> this is true.“Harry Potter is an accountant who loves cricket” --> this is false. Why is it true or false? Not because we have encountered the real Harry Potter, but because it is consistent with the story told in the books. We have accepted rules and a context. Mathematics is a complex story invented by humans. Numbers are the characters and axioms are the basic rules. When we say “2 + 2 = 4,” it's exactly the same as saying “Harry catches the Golden Snitch.”
