I just don't get why the game feels so anemic. There's actually quite a lot of stuff in the game, it just feels like most of it is useless. It really bugs me that quests don't really have unique descriptions for why they're being posted. It was fun reading about a spoiled princess that wanted a Rathian as a pet or how a research team wanted to check a specific thing. Now everything is just copy pasted generic "MONSTER is threatening the ecosystem! Stop it". They even went through the effort of putting in a bunch of NPC hunters from different units, but you have no idea who they are or what other units do because they're just there and have a quick bio of you bother to go read it. Why aren't optionals set up as helping other units with their work? Why aren't there the helper quests like in Sunbreak where it's just an optional with a designated NPC? This way you get to know them before they show up as Casey (Fartum Unit) in an endgame cutscene. You might develop favorites for reasons outside of what weapon they use. It's not even resource intensive as you're just putting an NPC into a generic hunt, which is what they do now if you set them. It just makes me sad how much wasted effort, time, and money it feels like there are in Wilds.
