TCG is 100% importing Grandmaster Rare/Serial Rare.The extended art cards are a good change for collectors, but they're probably going to have the same pull rates that QCRs in Rarity had. Even if they're hard to pull, they're not exactly give the exclusiveness that only serial cards have.Regular Starlights unfortunately are not a collector bait neither are expensive cards anymore, because they just confirmed reprinting older starlights (Kurikara, Super Polymerization) in RA05. This is huge and it's going to crash again the older starlights, and not only that, we see some cards that are Starlights having Extended Arts (Mirrorjade, Super Poly again), so they're going to be dirty cheap through time.It might seems crazy but QCRs long term will probably have some value because they won't reprint them. Even if the game evolves to a full art card game, the 25th anniversary stamp will hold some value.So Grandmaster is coming for sure.

The big issue with the game isn't even handtraps, its how compact engines have gotten while still doing too much, allowing people to mix with minimal investment but still get all the best stuff.People whined about the game being way to archetype centric, but now we have the slop outcome that is way worse. Because while its fine for you to mix two similar themes that share some mechanics, its another when you can bridge full engines together. And banning handtraps or leaning into Mulcharmies doesn't fix that.That all being said, limiting the number of generic handtraps will be necessary as part of that fix because you want players to have to be forced to run higher engine counts of whatever their main archetype is.

Just banish materials, make thing. Most serious fusion decks have that built in to their engines with additional effects and wouldn't bother running it, but things that sorely needed such a card would now have access to it without having to wait their turn to have a few meager support cards released in 3-5 years. Essentially make a slightly lesser version of what would normally be the backbone of any modern meta deck and remove the archetype restrictions. Then decks could just slot this in to fill their gaps and in turn it would boost the areas where this generic package is lacking (boss monsters, field spells, etc) with their chosen archetype, forming a complete deck of a suitable powerlevel.

I've been testing Heavenly Odd-Eyes in my Odd-Eyes deck, and the only times I ever used him were when I couldn't make Beyond the Pendulum before my PendSummon.I thought it was more of an issue that she's the only Link-2 available; since I'm gonna have to summon her anyway, might as well ditch the one card that conflicts with her effect.If the deck had an alternative to go into that didn't lock you, Heavenly Odd-Eyes would be the superior choice since it can trigger Astrograph and Arc Pendulum, can search Revolution which you can activate immediately, and the card you add can still activate its Pendulum effect.

After having played this Duelist Cup, here are my thought on MD’s format and what needs changing:- Maxx C ban (obviously)- Maliss needs to be hit to the point of unplayability, legit delete the deck- Mulcharmys are actually fine for the environment and aren’t broken- Moon of the closed Heaven needs a ban, even Dracotail is sometimes playing fiendsmith (alternatively i’d be cool with a Ceasar ban)- Unironically, ash should get hit. The card is just ok when you draw it going 2nd, but getting your charmys ashed or your plays ashed when trying to break a board really sucks. Expanding on this, boards nowadays are so powerful that often times that 1 defensive ash blossom is enough to win you the game when your board would otherwise not suffice- they need to ban Ptolemaeus (turn skip bullshit). They also need to hit Onomat cards. That deck basically FTKs you going first, it has too many extenders and tools, feels like Maliss sometimes.
