When it comes to fanfiction, at least, I find that I like a blend of adventure and romance, since most plain romance feels kind of rudimentary (and a lot of people who write it seem to have no patience at all), while a composite story is usually more planned out and has a satisfying resolution to both arcs.

The intro sequence starts with the soul materializing on screen and ends with our intended vessel being discarded. It makes more sense if the intro soul we see materialize is physically stolen from the vessel and put into/given to Kris rather than that our intangible control over the intro soul is somehow redirected to Kris's pre-existing soul. The soul is called "Kris's soul" in battles both because Kris currently owns it and you are playing the role of Kris in those battles, but that doesn't mean it's their original normal soul that got hijacked, just that it's theirs now. Your love will become theirs and all that.
