I haven't been able to clear Trials for my 4th ascendancy and have no ultimatums to try anyway.And yet... I'm enjoying the game. I'm logging a few hours each day, sometimes gaining a level and sometimes losing the 3/4 I was to the next one. Shit happens, it's a game Casuals, whats you're story? Are you stuck? What are you happy about that seems small but makes the world of difference to keep you coming back? It's ok to not be the top guys and still enjoy things, I swear!

What do people find fun about PoE1? I don't hate the game. I have many hours in SSF on it. However, I did hate how ass melee felt for years when playing it. Being forced to basically use ancestral protector and warchief totems fucked me up mentally. I hated those skills but most melee skills did no damage without them. Now I play only Path of Exile 2 and have a blast playing. It just feels better to me. I think I never found PoE1 as fun because I would never do weird stuff like make an autobomber wardlooper or something. I think the people who thoroughly like PoE1 are people who play spreadsheets.

The difficulty of this game is absolute dog shit, and not in the way you're thinking. There are only two kinds of builds: strongly OP or miserably weak. I like the action aspect of the game, learning boss patterns and mechanics. Thing is, to really engage with it you have to build blindly, which means you'll take forever to kill normal enemies. On the other hand, if you use a meta build or craft something strong, not only you'll be breezing through mobs (which is a good thing since they're not interesting and the campaign is a slig), you'll be deleting bosses from existence and you won't need to interact with the mechanics at all. GGG can't commit to either play style. Those who want the mob sweeping brainless power fantasy feel bored and don't have enough tools and content. Those who want to engage with the action mechanics are punished for playing the game as originally intended.

The most important thing is for the leader of the safehouse to be rank 3 before you run it. Rank 1 and rank 2 either dont drop the medalions at all, or the 2 expensive all flames for that matter, or have greatly reduce chances of doing so, because i never saw any drop from the several rank 1 and 2 safehouses i did for science ( i skipped 3.26, so wanted to test it out a bit )
