Why is everyone blaming Sega for IDW being forced to do short arcs? IDW has like 6 unfinished long arcs and its their own fault that they even exist. If IDW didn't insist on pretending it's some sort of monthly manga it would be able to fit in the canon. Now it factually cannot fit Frontiers anywhere in its 80 chapter run and this is somehow Sega's fault? A literal fanfic writier could avoid a mistake like this by just making the adventures self contained.... like the games. Even Archie (Before Ian) had self contained arcs. If you're writing a canon comic you don't get to treat it as it's own continuity where Sonic spends months and months aiding your OCs.

Shadouge is not my cup of tea, but I've been trying to tell this general since last year that Sega has been suspiciously pushing Rouge more and more. But at that time last year, you guys we're really high strung on the debates about Maria. Since that has died down, I think what we really need to talk about is how the reception to Knuxouge is the result of what we're getting lately. They did attempt to separate Rouge from Shadow. Sonic Prime features her heavily with Knuckles, tries to associate her with him again to the point that she doesn't talk to Shadow at all. People didn't like that. What little discussion there was of Rouge regarding Sonic Prime just came back down to "Why didn't she and Shadow interact?" Sonic Dream also attempts to push Knuckles and Rouge, but ultimately results to lukewarm reception where most of the spotlight is put on Cream's return and funnily enough, Ariem's thoughts on Knuckles.Knuckles and Rouge as a duo does not receive much attention, so now they've gone back to pushing her with Shadow which gets far more results and reaction from the fanbase because they can latch onto the concept of Team Dark. It also makes it convenient for Sonic Team to market another girl alongside Amy especially because Rouge is tied to their second most popular male character. I feel bad for those that feel strongly about Knuckles an Rouge, but I think their time has passed. It doesn't matter how receptive Shadow is to Rouge or not, what matters is the marketing. It doesn't help that they're slowly pretending Omega doesn't exist to help facilitate this.

Evan Stanley was on DeviantArt, working on a fancomic. They, along with others, have retconned things I love because no one ever pointed out that their headcanons were wrong. They were given nothing but praise, because even polite criticism is considered "harassment" to these people who are supposedly adults. At the end of the day, I think a fan of these characters should care enough to correct misconceptions once they're aware of them. At the very least they should tag their works as "OOC" if they are purposely discarding the way the character actually acts. That's what tags are used for.
