For hardcore, the worst option is two gathering professions. There's no market for them because nobody else has money, and they vendor for shit. You can skin all day and barely make a silver. The only positive is you can get people to craft you stuff, but you could just do it yourself.A crafting profession for armor/weapons is a very good choice. It gives the best equipment for the lowest risk. The only way you get better gear is by doing dungeons, but that comes with a higher risk. And if you choose to outlevel the dungeons, crafting professions will offer you better stuff. Crafting professions also have some recipes that give a very good return when you vendor them. You really have to look at the prices for each item but some recipes just turn copper ore into way way way more money than you'd ever get vendoring it raw or trying to sell it to other players.Alchemy is also a solid choice. Swiftness pots are clutch. Buff pots will make up for not having better gear through crafting. I almost never made healing/mana pots because I always had enough from other sources.Engineering is a top choice though because the target dummies are just so clutch and unlike crafting professions and pots, you can't have another player make them for you. Really if you're going it alone I'd recommend engineering. If you play a warrior/paladin you can find blacksmiths to make select pieces of gear using minerals you gather. You really should be making friends with others anyhow and getting them to help you make stuff.For money, the best option profession-wise is fishing. The junk pools vendor so well and they're extremely low risk. You can also get healing/mana pots out of them, which saves you on making them yourself or getting them from other players.

Leveling a rogue on bronzebeard right now and I kind of miss the beefier mobs from Epoch. I basically use 2 or 3 Sinister Strike with Eviscerate on a mob to kill it. On epoch the armor and health between mobs varied so much it actually made sense to open with garrote for some mobs. Same goes for rupture and expose armor. Now I'm just using the same skills regardless of what mob I am fighting
