I want more space sims set in our solar system, but instead of rinky-dink chemical rockets and ion thrusters that take you a year to reach Mars, you get proper fucking torchships that can burn 1g for hours
>>551669389how about frontier elite 2 where you can burn 20G for days?

is frontier pilot simulator a simulator?
>>551707730it is, but I don't think it counts as a vehicle simulation
>>551717086Burning Man has gotten even more way too bougie.

too busy jerking off to gacha girls, wearing red ribbons, in the other threads
>>551731764They were disowned by their families.
Three patches without an update from Aerges for the F1, let alone the F1.M. I guess it really is dead.
Decided to give MSFS 2024 a shot. So far enjoying it.

why is it that the more realistic a sim is the easier it is to fly?flying a realistic sim is like driving a car down the road, but an arcade sim is more like playing moon lander in a hurricane
>>551790176Punch it!
are any of the msfs bombers worth getting
>>551790176Its a maddog, just back it out
>>551808601>is any military plane worth getting in a civvie sim

Is there a simulation game that lets me live alone in the far reaches of space/civilization and unbothered by humanity and its incessant noise?

Best Silent Hunter IV overhaul mod?
Time for some short mountain stroll with my Wilga.
>>551897685
>>551894328I'm checking out TMO 2.5 but I'd appreciate any recommendations on submods or other overhauls.
pull up
It's official, the Venezuela map is coming to DCS! Hopefully Haiti is on it too.
>>551897685nice shot
>>551920615Honestly would be a more interesting map than a lot of them.
Make your own fun, the only reason a map is boring is because you think it's boring!
Bumping so I have time to fly
>>551964618the sky is fake
Did everyone kill themselves during Christmas?
No, Keith Higgs died of a heart attack a couple of weeks ago though
>>551967329Yeah, that's my favorite kind of sky. That's why I'm here.
>>551955789I would agree with that sentiment had ED not constantly marketed DCS as a combat simulator with arcade cinematic trailers a-la ace combat.
>you just got to your patrol area?>good, we're in the midst of a DEADLY scurvy flareup>pls bring pearsIt's 1941, haven't they invented vitamin tablets yet? You're like a days sailing away from port. Just fucking go back.
>>551998540They don't even market it as a combat simulator, they market it as a complete and playable game.Nobody would buy any modules if DCS was properly advertised as a high-fi cockpit procedure training simulator.
>>552017601>>551998540>marketed DCS as a combat simulatorYou're not primarily doing combat? Is it basically like the civfag sims but with military planes?
>>552019476It's more nuanced than that. At the end of the day it's still a game more than a sim, as true sim like the ones used for training have actual people generating the mission/lesson for you ( I did it even before my first glider flight with a 6DOF glider sim )The issue with DCS is that they market it as a cool and ready combat sim with trailers that make you think it's a game, and by the time you download it "for free" you see you can't do much with the su-25, decide to buy a full fidelity spamraam jet for 80£ and you soon realize that the only thing you can do outside of the very barebone "training" missions and scripted campaigns that break if you miss a trigger point. To actually have fun with DCS as a combat simulator you need to have either skilled people behind a multiplayer server generating quasi-dynamic missions or be content with a cockpit sim/digital museum. It's basically false advertising.
There is hope.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgWitj2o-X4
Blackshark and Warthog were complete games in their own right. LOMAC was a complete game in its own right and it was ported to DCS as FC2/FC3. If you buy these modules you'll get a complete package. The problem is simply selling the plane without any supporting content or infrastructure became the business model for the vast majority of content. You have to know this and the history of DCS to know which modules to buy, but they of course only promote the latest ones.
>>552019476>You're not primarily doing combat? You are, but the only stuff that's modeled with any degree of effort and fidelity are aircraft interiors and limited declassified systems logic. If you want to train or drill the procedures for employing weapons or flying instrument approaches, in isolation, it's a perfect sim for you.If you want a game that attempts to fully simulate a broader combat environment, including accurate munitions damage, ballistics, and realistic adversary logic and behavior, you're better off playing something like Nook Option, Arma, or War Thunder.
Got back in the cockpit after a couple months away... Good stuff...
>>552020589DID is back? Who is the necromancer bringing bback all these dead companies?
>>552020391Or to create missions for yourself, like using Briefing Room. For me it is now the main source of fun. Create simple mission, do a cold start, take off, do mission primary objective which is interception, ground attack or something like that. For helis you can just download rotor ops.
Time for some mountain flying again.
>Fresh DCS doing CTDs when just loading maps, something not bothering to load at all>Have correct specs for DCS, more than enough power to run it>Repair DCS, do system scan, reinstall C++>Even do a fresh DCS install>Still suffer the same CTDsUninstalled it now. Absolute fucking shitshow
>>552042209It's your RAM, it's dying...
>>552041847But that's the thing. I think that if the advertising were clear from the get-go that you need to be able to work their clunky mission editor to do anything more complex than a dogfight, a lot of people wouldn't have bought as many modules. even historical RTS games give you proper campaigns that you can replay in different ways, meanwhile in DCS even if you create a mission for yourself or use a community ones you're at the mercy of trigger zones that won't activate if you try to fly even slightly differently that what the mission editor had imagined. It's a bit on an hyperbole, but actual ace combat games have more leeway in how you go about completing a mission than most DCS campaigns.
>>551986195Beautiful. I've been enjoying the C-130 in VR, and am impressed with the exceptional level of detail ASC put into every switch and panel, down to the last rivet. I've been playing around in the mission editor trying to build some kino low level ingress and airdrop missions.
>>552044571Yeah. This is not BMS. It’s just a sandbox where you either create your own gameplay or end up relying on missions made by others, which may stop working after any update. Or you can hop on on multiplayer and do airquake or same 4YA missions again and again. Spamming new modules won't help them in the long run if they won't do something with actual gameplay. Nowadays I'm tired of DCS and its issues and have moved to civilian sims.
>>552045258>Spamming new modules won't help them in the long runI had the opposite impression. From those leaked video calls and the enigma video about his interview it seems they already make enough money with military contracts where they don't need the game aspect of the sim like a dynamic campaign etc and they'll just shit out to the commercial side (DCS) all the modules they can from their mil contracts. Which it was the whole reason the razbam dispute began, since Razbam was okay with delivering a supertucano sim to a south american mil for almost free with the condition to be allowed access to the tucano themselves in order to release that module on DCS to sell. ED didn't like that as they have said in the call they can milk much much more money from the military, so they wanted to stop the deal by cutting the money they owed to razbam to force them to come to ED terms and try to renegotiate the whole deal. ED didn't care about DCS sales nor they will ever care imho, it's just an aftertought.
>>552046140Well, then it looks grim. Hopefully the competition will start delivering something. IL-2 with its new korea pack looks good for early cold war and BMS is much better in the terms of actual gameplay and modern combat.
>>552045258>airquake or same 4YA missionsThere's also playing variations of CTLD taxi driver over and over again if you're into rotary.
Loving the Comanche
>>552044943>I've been playing around in the mission editor trying to build some kino low level ingress and airdrop missions.Yes, please do! Except make the mission failure being shot down because you peeped over an S300s radar horizon instead of the "you failed because you went 1 inch too high" text box like how faggots like to do it.
