HO HO HO
Falling frontier anon, hear my plea! Please tell me there has been updates on the development!
>playing 12hrs of StellarisI hate that slop but i cant stop..
Looking to get either Home World 3 or ASKA. Which game should I buy?Let's see if this thread manages to live until New Year's.
>>551801361How? Is map painting that fun?>>551801336Eh no. There was a pretty big update on what they have been doing little less than a month ago. Since there was so much news I think the game is still alive. That's about it for now it seems apart from some screenshots.
>>551801660I heard homeworld 3 was kinda meh also the strategy relied too much on boring active abilities (like more damage and such) of ships that you had to click in the menu yourself.
Last one.
>>551803090Im just basically doing a visual novel while listening to vidya podcasts..
HAK HAK HAK
>>551801336Game's alive, but is stuck in the situation Skong was in, a possible "dev heaven".
>>551803306>HW3The game has solid bones. Sadly the important part (the story) was horribly shitty, and Gearbox forced BBI to focus the DLC on the unimportant game mode instead of the true meat of the series, skirmish. We want Lin Joyce to burn like Kharak for ruining Homeworld.
>>551805569 (me)I also must mention it runs on UE5, and thus will need a NASA pc to run that sonofabitch. On the upside, unlike most games with that accursed engine, its modding is surprisingly flexible.
>>551803306I heard that too, and the reviews are grim. But I don't want to buy another game to sit in my Steam library. So I'm either between making me play HW3 or ASKA. ASKA is in early access while HW3 is feature complete and will never ever get a DLC.I'm also eyeing Dawn of War 3.
>>551805815>Spidersoft gamesExquisite taste good sir.
>>551805952You don't know how frustrated I was, when I discovered that all the trash I picked up was useless. There's around 300 items in that picture.
>>551805815>DOW3By the Emperor, don't put yourself through THAT. Relic ditched it for a reason, and it's the reason Geedubs ditched Relic for the Iron Harvest developed.
>>551807369>Iron Harvestwas this a success?
>>551805815I tried to replay avernum once but it's just such a slog in the early gamegeneforge is better and more replayable
>>551805815Go with ASKA, I have no idea what it's like, but it can't be worse than Homeworld 3.>>551803090>>551803306>>551803516>>551803717Thanks anon, your posts keep me alive until next time.
>>551807369>By the Emperor, don't put yourself through THATBut what if they make HM4? Like with DoW4 I would need to play it to understand the plot.>>551807746>was this a success? Not that fag, but no, it wasn't.>>551809693>I tried to replay avernum once but it's just such a slog in the early gameThere's now a remake of Avernum 4, which seems to be even more autist when it comes to traits.I want to play it, but I know I would restart a bazillion times until I got the right builds.>>551810297>Go with ASKA, I have no idea what it's like, but it can't be worse than Homeworld 3.From what I read, it seems to be a viking medival fantasy village builder/open world survival craft.
>>551811623NTA but damn you, you made me buy ASKA..
>>551796705Me, pants down, big hard dick poking my ass, going from one cheek to another, then forcing itself between them.

Damn, Lord of the Realm 2 is pretty fun, but really not obvious.

>>551861890>rerolling until you get a good startKinda deserved to be honest.
>>551866139nta but my experience with Endless Space is a lot like CoE5, the winner is decided at mapgen. The start is everything and if yours is bad, you're just fodder for the snowball.
How much assymmetry should 4X factions have in your humble opinion
>>551871818As much as possible without being unbalanced.
>>551861890>>551867001Wasn't there some setting that alleviates the start randomness with the map gen? I've done scores of playthroughs of ES2 and never had RNG as crippling as you're describing

Good lord. How the fuck do I win this? My lord died instantly, my berzerker mercs died before they could stutter "just pay us and we'll betray", and my rock hurler got wiped.
>640x480Yeah no.
>>551894804Fire is all attack, no defense. And fucking death troops?
>>551895234I tried with earth troops earlier, same shit, they got picked from afar with arrows. Even my shambler died really quickly. I assumed fire would be like in sacrifice: very good killing power, but the AI is expert at dodging.
>>551895401Well they have cavalry so you could try to just wait them to charge your ass and hope the hurlers kill one or two. Then you mop the infantry.
>>551896075It doesn't work, the AI in Lord of Magic is very passive and let you approach them.
>start game>half fields are left untended, other half is used for cattle>designate half the fields for growing grain>nothing happens, all the peasants I place on the fields return to chopping wood>check in detail>finally find a line>"0 sacks of grain used to seed">AreYouFuckingKiddingMe.jpg>buy 150 sacks of grain>finally the fields start looking properFuck sake, Lord of the Realms II is equally hard, but more in the economy department. At least I don't have to deal with soil fatigue or whatever.
>>551895208I haven't played this game since I was a drooling baby but I DO remember that individual units can have rank/experience level ups of some fucking sort for better combat performance. Because I had the same problem with recruiting shamblers early as Earth and they die to basic looking dudes in a dungeon. I think sticking heroes in my guilds helped both the hero and unit recruits get level ups? Also the sseth video taught me parry was a thing, kid me never fucking knew that
>>551900923I dunno about parry, I tried doing that, it did nothing. It's meant to turn half of your offense into defense, right?
Oh for fuck's sake, you can combine armies. It's nost just a Lord + 3 assholes.

Is the Early Start DLC for Workers & Resources good now?
>going berzerk drops the hero's defense to 0...ha. That's why my hero died.
I DID ITI DID ITI hate that you can't tell if an unit is parrying or not. Or if it works on ranged damage. My cavalry got wiped out almost instantly, but my Lord held the line.
>select Thief hero>notice another hero>"waa waa our people don't like each others but plz don't kill me">okay I'll parley>try to trade crystal for gold>get a weird proposition where I should trade 80 crystal for 20 gold>click on "autocalculate", assume I fucked up and that this'll automatically calculate a good deal>it's actually to battle the enemy hero>lost my thief
>>551924498>my Lord held the line.Thank you Jesus!

Jesus hold this thread up!
Been playing Farthest Frontier. Addictive little gem. All it needs is a better UI for the decoration and desirability stuff. You have no idea how to tell how many of what you've placed and where it is unless you click on a specific decor piece to highlight the rest, like parks. You basically have to spitball how effective everything is based on a green arrow pointing up and the cost to build and upgrade.I've been stuck in T3 because my Homesteads won't upgrade and then I finally realized I needed Parks. As soon as I put one down a Homestead started upgrading...
Today was a bad day for 4X games
>playing lord of the realm 2>sell all my cattle>buy a lot of grain>my peasants ate the grain instead of planting itMy game is lost but I'm playing until you morons all die of starvation. You deserve it for being massive fucking retards.
Oh. So that's what 'everything in their power' means.

>>551861890Are you playing after community patch? How do you find the balance changes they made? I assume you played a game or two, or no?>>551866139>>551867001Kinda. My recent experience after the patch is that no matter what you do, Sophons will win Science victory no matter what, and gods help you if they ally with Vaulters. If those two dont get you, Lumi & Co will win with eco. I am not sure what the hell is up with the community patch, but it feels way off.
>>551872038>>551872305There is a setting, and yet even with it being set to balanced/normal it can fuck your shit up.

>>552036516
>>552038769Ah, Paradox. Not even the strategy space is safe from shitty game companies.
>>552048119I'd argue they're even more prone to it since there's so much less competition for strategy games. Paradox and Firaxis have near monopolies on GSGs and Civ-likes so can do whatever they want
>>552036982Fortunately they decided to slam into my 2-stack one at a time instead of all at once. They were also hemorrhaging troops from lack of corruption, so their armies were 1/4 dead by the time they even got to me.The greatest danger they posed was to the game itself, by making it crash like 6 fucking times.

>>552083830Some Empire at War mods are 10+. Shit gets nutty when you're adding new assets.Even without 3D models you can balloon the size with how much you stuff into it. IE, the Multiverse mod for FTL is 700MB, while the game itself is only 300MB.

Happy new year, anons and spiders.
I just read some tarot cards at midnight as the year changed, asked them how Falling Frontier would end up this year. The Answer was, lack of control, lack of direction, aggression.Which I'm interpreting as the dev deciding to redo something fundamental, again and then having a melty with the community.>>552192057Happy new years, want me to do a reading for you while I'm at it?
>>552193037>Happy new years, want me to do a reading for you while I'm at it?Nah, I do not tempt fate.
>>552193248That's fine. The Cards also said this year ending up being pretty shit for gaming in general, stalling, fear of loss and needless sacrifice. Makes me think some decent dev team is gonna get axed for ultimately no reason, publishers still being afraid of trying anything too new and all promising sounding projects remaining in development limbo.
>>552193037>>552193942I'm curious, what sort of spread do you use?>stalling, fear of loss and needless sacrificeI blame the AI bubble for all of this.>stallingCompanies being unable to deliver on increasingly insane promises, so they're resorting to buying out all manufacturing just to prevent competing companies from getting access to it. Also ensuring no consumers have access to hardware as a byproduct.>fear of lossThrowing ever increasing amounts of good money after bad because of FOMO.>needless sacrificeThe bubble finally bursts, when in a sane world there shouldn't have been one in the first place.
>>552196778Nothing official, I just pull 4 cards and place them in a roughly diamond shaped pattern. While drawing a card I think of some particular question and interpret it from there. Also, I tend to turn the top and bottom cards into their reverse positions, while right and left are turned on their regular facing.

Hey, no dying this year either!

>>552475881Because it was shit, and I say that as someone who actually wanted to like it. The age system was a cool idea but executed poorly, it was annoying as fuck to have the AI be retarded and lead everyone into a crappy age every game. What 4x/turn-based strategy games currently have the most active online multiplayer? I'm feeling competetive and want to get autistically good at something.
>>552510931civ 6 and stellaris probably. I would throw in dominions as a wild card too it's probably a magnitude less popular than those two but considerably more autistic. >>552510931Certainly not the most active by any stretch of the imagination but I'm pretty sure the guys in the Dominions general regularly host games.

Here's one last post to wrap up the divegrass team's campaign. It was great to see the team play again after a long absence, thank you all for your support of the team and your input on so many different aspects of it. The team finished 9th overall and earned a starter spot on the /vg/ team with Stalin being the thread's rep based on comments from here. /vg/ plays in the 4chan winter cup which starts on the 23rd of this month so you'll see him in action then. Tournament awards were announced today and /civ4xg/ received the But What If Though? award and were runners up for Most Exciting Team and Match of the Tournament (the round of 16 match vs /tf2g/ which you can watch here if you haven't https://implying.fun/video/vgl25/2025-12-20/?t=2:23:30.0)The team will be in cryostasis (with Horatio) until probably around mid March for friendlies, then the next /vg/ League will be from late May through late June. I'll post again before each to see who you guys want to face for friendlies and if you want any changes for the team roster, player models, songs, chants, etc. One model I think I'm going to see about improving (assuming he's still on the team next league) is Sid Meier since I found his animated 3D model in the depths of the Civ 4 files. If you have any comments or suggestions about the team before then, feel free to post them here, I always have the thread open so I'll see them

>>552664553What counters heroes? Is it interesting to make any melee unit since I can just spam archers and it works against everything except Anubites?
>>552676549It's space you could just fly the top forward when shooting. ye it's bit of a space battleship meme>>552677048Human units counter heroes which counter myth which counters humans. At least in principle. Heroes may beat humans 1v1 but usually they come with either a cost or some other limitation where in a similar investment to regular dudes can just overwhelm them and trade cost effectively.
>>552676549So just like real life BB's?
>>552677882Real battleships have more considerations to make, namely their structure has to be balanced front/back otherwise the ship sinks. Guns are heavy so they have to go to both ends of the ship to balance each other out and building tall is both heavy and difficult so there's a limit on superfiring (pick related). If you don't put guns at the back then you are just missing free firepower, so you may as well put some in the back too which at least lets you shoot if you have to run away and most of the time all the guns can shoot to the sides. OP's ship can't shoot at the broadside because of the side guns which were abandoned for the same reason. Space has one less axis to worry about because a spaceship only has to be really balanced along the axis of thrust instead of front to back and side to side which means there's no real reason why you can't put all of your guns to the front (or the back which ever you like). A star wars flying wedge is much better design for a warship that still operates under the "navy but in space" rules lot of fantasy does since it can concentrate all of it's guns forwards.
>>552680056So what you are saying that its even less of a problem?Gotcha.
>>552680640No it's more of a retard move because there's less reasons why you have to position your turrets in places where they can't shoot. In water it's ok to put a turret where it can't always shoot because that's the only place physics allows you to put it. In space where no such limit exists it's only down to your IQ to put a turret in place where it can't shoot at the direction you expect your enemies to be in.
>>552676549That ship has a spinal rail gun as its main weapon. I don't like the placement of the gun in the back and I think the original concept had the gun higher than the bridge.
>>552680813All i hear is "its even less of a problem than in real life" because space ship can actually turn in all directions.
>>552681019All I hear is you have low reading comprehension.>>552680963The bridge and the turret could just swap places. It's almost certainly placed there because it looks more like a battleship and battleships are cool.
>>552681146Thanks for agreeing with me i guess.>The bridge and the turret could just swap places.Makes no sense, its space - enemy can come from everywhere so its better to have closer to 360 coverage.
>>552681146The spinal mount ship is a destroyer, I think the bigger ship next to it is supposed to be a battleship. Mostly semantics but the destoyer only has the gun in the back as some sort last defence. I think it's meant as an escort.
>>552681458It's a game anon, and space in the game is going to be represented in a 2D plane.
>>552681513It's the same for the destroyer. The turret should be above the bridge, which could be done by swapping their places, putting the higher bridge section in the back and the lower mid section in the front or by putting the turret to the bottom of the ship or something if the high front section is required for the gun.
>>552681653Yes but in universe it still makes more sense to build >>552666020 over this retarded >>552680056 monstrosity.
>>552682127The example may be a stupid design but it's principally the correct design for space. There's no need to worry about front/back and side to side balance so the correct design is to just put all guns facing forward in superfiring positions. You can utilize the wedge in both front to back and side to side spaces so you arrive at the wedge which is the optimal shape for this kind of ruleset.
>>552682602>it's principally the correct design for space.Of course its not. It has a massive blind spot at the back, depending on the universe you are running it might be anything from hindrance to outright death sentence.C-Beam one at least have rear half of the ship covered without runing the entire ship.
>>552682915What a stupid post

Now that is a good fucking change.I was so annoyed you cant just pop anti missile sensor without also switching on the big guns and showing entire system where you are.
>>552688004I should try to give that game another chance. Last time I got overwhelmed trying to build a fleet. Only managed to colonize and explore.
>>552688540i still havent played a decent length campaign in C#, its annoying me that after waiting for so long and so many hours in VB6 i cant force myself to play C# because FOMO.
>>552688004While that is technically a good change for gameplay reasons the whole idea is pretty silly. Active sensors light up like beacons because they suffer form r^4 loss in strength while listening to them is only r^2 and the advantage should be bigger than that for detection vs targeting purposes. In reality even small active sensors should have basically "infinite" range to be detected by passive sensors for tactical location purposes. In game passive sensors detect actives at r^2 while actives also detect targets at r^2 so small sensors get to slip under detection way easier than their size ought to cause them to be.
Hexes or Squares?
>>552680056Spaceships still need to be balanced else when they turn their engines on they'd spin out of control, it's just they don't need to have the same balance as an ocean going ship

>>552771492Then poking >>552754812 with this question >>552767715
>>552681458Actually, you'd have closer to 360 coverage if the gun was at the highest point of the hull (where bridge is now) and could lower the barrels below horizontal. That would allow it over 180 degrees front-to-back and probably around 270 side-to-side, with numbers in between diagonally.Right now, the gun only has less than 180 side-to-side, since the smaller guns will block it, less than 180 front-to back, because the superstructure blocks it and at best has around 180 diagonally.
>>552767715It's as good as it has ever been, it's still aurora.
>>552779012In other words, the most efficient design for battles in 3D space is a regular octahedron with main turrets located at the apexes. That would give it fully spherical field of fire as well as the ability to bring all guns to bear in one direction at the same time.
>>552779262I will add it to my backlog then. After this Christmas I have a lot of shit to play.

Terra Invicta just came out of early access is it worth playing?
>>552787006hell no
>>552787006eeeeehhhhhhhIt's like 3 games stapled together. The earth layer, which is balancing the spinning plates 20 different numbers and goals to keep track of, the space layer, which is closest to a traditional 4x, and the combat layer, which is a spreadsheet-fueled blob of unnecessarily-realistic autism. It's both unforgiving (if you fall behind, it's very hard to catch up, and you'll need to savescum to balance out AI cheats) but also extremely forgiving (as long as the aliens don't totally conquer the planet, you can come back and win even after the other factions have won, there's even an achievement for that).Performance is kinda bad and load times are atrocious. 5+ minutes. It's basically 'Noob Trap: The Game' with a large number of techs, mostly for ships, that serve no purpose than to waste your rapidly-dwindling time. Each tier has a best-in-slot, a couple of runners-up, and everything else just kneecaps you, and you won't know until you make a spreadsheet to compare them or look up one someone else already made. There's like 40 types of engines, but only 5 are actually worth using.A single playthrough can take almost 100 hours.

>>553022932The long version goes into more, but it's a combination of the fleet being fed nothing but false info about the Japanese, most of the sailors being simple peasants/revolutionaries/generally poorly trained and not any form of "professional" at all, likely a lot of substance abuse, miscommunication between ships due to poor training, and fear tending to spiral. Mass hysteria is a real thing, like when the whole world started panic-buying toilet paper because some Aussies were having shortages. Some Civ 7 future DLC leaked:A core concept about it is is based off of "Great Units" You are limited for the amount of each one you can have by the era (1,3,5) by default. You can upgrade any military unit that has killed another unit to a Great Unit the turn after it kills a unit if you do not have any other limit. This makes it so after every kill after being promoted, it gains a random upgrade.Upgrades include:>Active: These upgrades have an active bonus. Once the unit is killed, they give a debuff for a set amount of turns.>Defensive: These upgrades only function when the unit is killed but gives a negative debuff when it's alive>Shrine: These upgrades only give any benefits once the unit is retired into a monument tile. If they are raided, they give the reverse effect until restoredOther players can interact with them to gain massive war score when killing them, to even trying to convert them. If converted, the original owner gains the debuffs for a few turns while the upgrades reset for the new owner. Civs can gain wargoals over Great Units to humiliate them in battle. If they die for any reason, they give debuffs based on the upgrades unless it's Defensive upgrades. Retiring them turns them into a monument which has it's own upgrades, but it's own downsides once raided. It's made to have a risk vs reward element to promoting Great Units and with feeding them more troops. Not all upgrades are beneficial and they become easy targets. Only the owner can see their benefits/cost.

>>552806846Yeah, there's a fuckton of them in Gathering Storm campaigns.Final map's final boss even has them in his army.Thing is, GS and later Winds of War didn't come with a lot of skirmish maps, and new units DON'T spawn naturally, they have to be placed manually on the map when you create it. Same for their dwellings. So unless you play campaign or one of the, like, three maps that have new units pre-placed, you are not gonna see them.

>>553130454Is that Gothic Armada 2?
>>553130563Nope, gothic armada 1.I like the game, but there are few missions that are bullshit because you have to either babysit an inquisitorial ship on a mission of exterminatus, while a whole chaos warband is trying to destroy his ship and at that point you have like, couple of cruisers at your disposal. The Mission that rustles my jimmies, is the fucking eldar co-operation mission, where you and the knife eared fuckup of the void are fighting against the orks.Originally, this mission wasn't impossible, but since the ships in campaign are exactly the same as the ships in multiplayer, that means that any and all tweaks to the ships, for the sake of multiplayer fairness, will end up happening in campaign too.So, in original game, elves were just tanky enough to not melt when coming in contact with orks, but since they were cancer on steroids to fight against in MP, the devs nerfed them hard to give MP babbies (like me) a chance against the knife eared menace. So now, if you choose to side with the space elves in campaign, you practically soft lock yourself from finishing the game, because 1, the elves are weak as shit and 2, their AI isn't half as dickish as a real competent player, so they can't pull of those same stunts that human players were pulling off in MP and, in general just wander in too close to the enemies and get rammed. Also, did I mention that it's an automatic game over if your knife eared ally's ship gets destroyed in that mission? And that he starts off halfway across the map, almost right next to the enemies, while you have to make your way up to the elf raping grounds?
>>553131401Damn, they need separate stat sheets for multiplayer and campaign. Starcraft 2 released in 2010 and even they knew to do that.

>>553141026I like it but consider these things:The gameplay loop is very minimalistic Your hero is very overpoweredStory is barely even thereYou spend more time managing the heroes invading your dungeon then your own creaturesA Kalypso account is required to start the gameThis is less Dungeon Keeper 2 and more invite heroes to explore your dungeon and then kill them before they leave. Cool if you like scaling your main character and watching him destroy a small army on his lonesome.
They are looking for voice actors and campaign (act 1) testers for Nebulous.
>>553146747Didnt tranny who runs this game scrapped the campaign?
>>553146837No they scrapped futher updating a strategy layer of the game. You can still play conquest but they stopped working on it because the focus of the game is tactics. Testers were winning battles with superior numbers which isn't what the game is balanced arround. I think it was the right call in the end because the game focussed on tactics and team work. After stopping development of conquest they started on a single player campaign instead. You will get choices were to go, but it will be a series of maps you need to win. A bit like homeworld.

>>553378838...what? So basically, once a farm runs out of fields, it creates a second farm?
>>553379163no it doesnt create a second farm, see the oat field amount is x/80. i was left clicking and painting out fields so once it got to 80/80 oat fields then the oat field + farm is considers a complete building. then when i left clicked the oat field to drag out more oat fields, the game considered it as me left clicking a building and wanting to drag and move it somewhere else, which created the situation which caused me to exit the game

>>553402146The right would say "fuck the aliens"The center would say the aliens don't existThe left would say "fuck the aliens"
>>553401710They should make a game about that.Like, aliens invade Earth and you fight them. That'd be pretty popular I think.
>>553407661Yeah. And they should call it Aliens-international. Or Extraterrestrial-International. Or just X for short.

I'm not satisfied with US+Canada, so now I'm cracking into France. Servants had 60-70% support pretty much the whole game, but a couple years of propaganda (and some from the Academy, for some reason) have torn them down to just 25%, giving me just enough of an opening.Fortunately, the European Thunderdome is an even bigger shitfest than normal so there hasn't been any unification. Unfortunately, it means taking even longer to rebuild the EU.

Is cataclismo any good?
>>553365470I have chosen to abandon Tahuks and try the new Necrophages and Aspects. The unique districts for the bugs changing from 1-of to instant-build with scaling corpse cost feels really good. The whole Matriarch's Eye to level up districts thing kinda gives off Ardent Mages city planning vibes, which wouldn't really be v-eye-able n that game without the Eyes producing a fuckton of influence. Also, it makes it really awkward to generate good science/dust with labs and trading posts due to adjacency shit. Not sure how I feel about the Tails being the only military structure, it seems like that'd make defending the hive require substantial standing armies on patrol duty later on, and requires you to put Eyes on the frontier of your territory for security purposes (scary investment of resources). Feedholes amplifying strip-mining tiles feels awesome. I appreciate that their economy now runs on corpses almost entirely.Haven't gotten particularly deep with Aspects because I struggle to contain homicidal urges when other empires sieze land I wanted. The +1 food on coral feels extremely nice, as do the new district bonuses. The change from coral making bribes free instead of auto-pacifying helps solve their abysmal early game defensive play, but also really hurts their early economy (they lost the basic dust district, so more unit upkeep = slower coral growth). Their mid/late game expansion will likely be fueled by deposits for trading post adjacebcy bonuses. Buyout with influence feels as strong as you'd expect, but it also feels like retreading ground. My biggest gripe with them has changed from "They fall over to the slightest early aggression" to "They kind of just feel like they cobbled together ES2 factions". Also, I think they made their cavalry unit T2 and their flying juggernaut T3 now.Amplitude pls unnerf Tahuks.https://youtu.be/nzeBgLy6Y2g?si=3np1DsUBEyb_JyLF
>>553408375X is already taken. But, since you are fighting the aliens, you need to command your dudes. So it could be Extraterrestrial Command, or X-COM for short.

Thinking about upgrading my PC but the only games I play are autistic spreadsheet simulators like Rule the Waves and Aurora or 20 year old strategy games
>>553453009I think that there has never been a worse time to upgrade your PC.Nvidia and ChatGPT must pay for what they have done to us gamers.
>>553453820Tbh the last time I upgraded was in January 2020 right before prices went to shit and I feel like there hasn't been a good time to upgrade since GPT4 was released and AI became a marketing meme
>>553151418>I've been told story quality drops to the fucking floor in the expansions, but if they're still fun to playNarrative wise? Yeah, it's bad. New World Computing was going down in flames, they were putting those expansions together on a budget of chewed gum and empty pizza box. They are great as just raw unfiltered gameplay faggotry. In Gathering Storm your heroes start out weak but end up overleveled monsters that wouldn't be out of place in a Holy Grail War in Fate. Last map is all of them coming together to defeat the main villain as the world becomes unstable.Winds of War is just a set of challenge maps that tell a story about how several counties invaded the same kingdom at the same time. Maps look neat and are just a solid HoMM4 skirmish experience. It all ends on one giant map that represents the capital of invaded kingdom, and ALL factions are present at the same time. You actually choose which one you'll be playing as (and yes heroes are carried over from previous scenarios, so you'll be fighting heroes that you raised yourself). The end goal is to break into the capital and it's a set of decently brutal fights which I mostly remember because the final defender hero uses the portrait of my beloved Adelaide (don't judge me yes I had a crush on her since HoMM3).Winds of War introduces some new units and megadragons are really cool. But, uh, you already know how new units are handled integration-wise.
>>553435679>The cashier at the supermarket was a Star Wars fight. What does that even mean?
>>553454539It's even worse now, and it's only going to get worse for the next 4 years at least, unless the bubble bursts.Memory is skyrocketing up because of AI. That means RAM, SSD and VRAM (and everything else that uses solid state memory: USB sticks, phones, cars, toasters, etc.).Because of VRAM going up, GPUs are going up again, and in some regions, finding a GPU with more than 8GB is already impossible.AI server racks needs a ton of chips, and TSMC can't keep up with making them, so they are increasing their prices for manufacturing in 3nm technology, meaning CPUs are going up as well.
>>553454539>before prices went to shitMy dude prices of stuff like RAM has increased by 400%, and no, I'm not joking.

>>553473851>>553474314reminder that samsung's newest range of phones will actually have lower specs than their most recent range because the part of the company that makes the smartphones cannot actually get the orders of RAM they need from the part of the company that manufactures RAMbecause they're selling it all to AI firms

This game is fine, as much as you expect from the series. The improvements to city building expect are cool, and the free camera I guess is the biggest change.Trading is fine as one would've guess, the route AI is quite good, however I just quite figure how to set up the "Star" trade route they mention, which is supposed just a central warehouse dump and distribute, because them the algorithm just doesn't seem work as properly
