>>551847137Played Dark Heresy. Not a single "I don't like you! Die!" moment in the game
>People didn't like the big titty Jae portraitFine, use this one instead. Owlcat always has ugly females, so changing the portraits is how you make their romances suck less.
I wanna tittyfuck Camellia
>>551847443Jae's portrait is fine.>muh eyesMinor issue.

>>551848339You have to use the bolts once each time you fight a demon lord. You also have to use the crossbow in the prologue cutscene to shoot the bug guy.If you were a cowardly bitch in the prologue or used the bolts on random enemies then the true ending is lost.
What's the best [Attack] I don't like you, die option in crpgs
What level should the party be for the bottom floor of Watcher's Keep? (Throne of Bhaal)I'm at the point where all that's left is presumably the last fight before meeting the Imprisoned One.In the room where there's the three keys, and each time you turn one it spawns a ton of enemies for you to fight. All that's left is the one that spawns a Beholder, a sword wielding snake-man, and a bunch of other monsters or evil people.Did I get there too early? I left to do this right as I was going through the Fire Giant temple in the main story.Me(mage that can't use abjuration), Minsc, and Imoen aren't even level 20 yet, and Jaheira is only 14/15. Viconia and Sarevok are 23 though.I'm also open to ideas on strategies for that fight too. I've only put a couple attempts in, so I'm not at the ragequit point nearly yet, but I'm just curious how you've done it.(reposted from last thread that I didn't realized was already dead.)
>>551848443I just copied and pasted it ahha
>>551848339I wouldn't worry about the "true ending" it's garbage and you have to do a bunch of other random shit that you'd never do unless you knew to do so ahead of time. You're fine, and even if you wanted to go for it, I believe there are more midnight bolts than you need. Anyhow I really wouldn't bother with it especially on a first playthrough, just play how your character would play.Sounds like you're having a good time, I also like to draw out rests and have to deal with low resources, it's fun.
>>551849341I didn't know about this. I think I used one on playful darkness

>>551848961>>551848992Yes you do
>>551847443Her portrait wasn't really the issue, though yeah it could be improved. It was always the voice, accent and writing. If these games had no VA I think a lot of the most dislikable characters would enter a tolerability zone they aren't in otherwise. (Not Nenio though, furshit is shit)
>>551851717Yrliet's VA is one of her few saving graces
Who rounds out the rest of your party?
>>551850460How would you know about it? Its barely explained. You're supposed to autistically and schizophrenically connect the dots on a variety of obscure hints to figure it out organically, just like romancing the nymph for the secret ending in Kingmaker.I like there being hidden things in games but there aren't enough other hidden things in Owlcat's games to find for there to be one 'super secret path ending' the way they've been doing.Like other anons have said, I wouldn't worry about it, just look up the ending slides if you're really curious and play the game organically.
We love Nenio here.

>>551851963>How would you know about it?Realistically, you aren't. You either find out online, or somehow possibly stumble into it. That's why it's a "secret ending" and not an "ending".I'm alright with how Owlcat does it but I have never bothered with their secret endings. I like that they're there, and I like optional lore/setting stuff. I don't think they give you enough to go on for players to reasonably be expected to find it on their own, but I also don't think that's a huge problem, and see these things as reserved for a 2nd or 3rd playthrough.
>>551851961all the characters I like

>>551847137>What franchise do you wish will get a new game in 2026I'm don't like the thought of any franchise I like getting a new game in current.
>>551852394I know many use guides, and I have no problem with using them optionally, but I think when designers start integrating external guide use into gameplay, even if its for secret content, something gets lost. But I don't know for sure if they're doing this, it depends on the clues ingame.

Owlcat had to nerf their secret endings in RT because they realized that their audience was afraid of reading

>>551853863awful nasty party
>>551854045It's great for unfair. Lots of unique buffs to push those numbers up. And since Galfrey doesn't show up until the end you have a free slot you can rotate party members through for quests and flavor.
Recruiting Wendu is so retarded that I can't even see an evil justification for it
>>551854760it means you don't have to recruit Lann
I suddenly remembered an anon who got a decent way into wotr without realizing you can scribe spells into your spellbook
>>551854760catgirl starscream is funny and also is a pretty flexible martial since she joins as a level 1 fighter
>>551854760COUNTERPOINTI like BDSM DOMMING the little cat/spider girl.
>>551854760You find Lann cringe and gay duh
>>551855352>>551855396>>551855672This is bad roleplaying. Your character wouldn't reason like that.
>>551855735in lore wenduag is refered to as the stronger of the two, camellia even comments that if your taking one of them you should probably take whichever is stronger, it totally fits to decide the fighter would be better for your party than the monk archer or vice versa
>>551855735Why not?
>>551855735My character is usually an evil asshole/bitch, so beating and domming another evil power hungry person is 100% something they'd do.
>>551854760The entirety of Wendaug's personality and the kind of character you're supposed to be playing to make it make sense is represented in the elk temple when you can bring her to bully the priest together. She's meant to be a romance option for a low-brow thug type character, someone with int as a dump stat, maybe a basic CE or NE barbarian that chuckles crudely when he sees someone get hurt. Most people don't play that, because its the most retarded of 'evil' type options to play and psychopathy is a flat, shallow and very un-endearing character trait. So instead everyone's just bolting her on because she's not a cringe-fest like Lann and they like the idea of bdsm while ignoring she has spider arms growing out of her back (or use toybox to remove them).
>>551855867This only really works for the first choice between them. When it's revealed that she's just a psycho and she straight up tells you she'll betray you if you take her she's an obvious liability.
>>551856003>She's meant to be a romance option for a low-brow thug type character, someone with int as a dump stat, maybe a basic CE or NE barbarian that chuckles crudely when he sees someone get hurt.Owlcat wouldn't have bothered putting in a redemption option if that's all she was for
>>551856109In order to get to the redemption option you have to be the kind of idiot thug she'd like though, but just pull back enough to 'redeem' her while also being able to out-drink her in literal Hell.
>>551855735I played a evil dude and yes he found Lann to be cringe, he also didn't care about helping the mongrels.
>>551856109The only way I can see a good character getting that far is if you're playing a shelyn cleric or something and roleplay that your god told you to fix her
>start DA:O>Human warrior, noble originneat, this is cool>Try mage originThis is fucking boring>elf origininterestingI'll keep the human warrior origin tho,
>>551856970They had to nerf mage being the only fun class by giving it the most boring intro
>>551857252So i'm not wrong thinking Magic feel OP, but on a fun way?, but yeah holy shit this intro post the fade demon is killing me inside, maybe boring is not the best word, but it already dragged on a lot
>>551857424Yes. Mage is easily the best in DAO. You usually want two mages (Or more if you run an Arcane Warrior Tank).
>>551851717Nenio is based. You got filtered.
>>551848256there is no 'true ending' retard
>Cassia has a marriage ending with the RT because it's a "good idea" but it's painted as cold and political arrangement and failstate>Cassia has an ending where you're both happy but ultimately don't get together because it's not in her house's interests for you to marry>Good ending for her is not marrying at all and just vibing with the RT until some vague mutated future for herselfI'm not understanding what exactly is supposed to be going on here

Anyone notice that owlcat almost never puts actually interesting effects on armor itself. It's always accessories. Even the power armour in RT is boring.

>>551866582>>551867346you have to let him get out of the house and then pick the icono choice there to let him go

What am i in for? Is Pillars of Eternity worth buying? 1 or the sequel?
>>551868053There aren't too many odd situations like that. Only a handful really. Typically it's pretty clear
>>551868053Sometimes the Alignment options are definitely sub-optimal compared to a skill check option. The trade off is that you don't need to roll so it's easier.Near the end on Janus, there's an Iconoclast option to resolve a certain predicament peacefully, with some mildly negative long term consequences. But there's also a Persuade check to resolve it peacefully without any negative consequences. Then on other occasions the alignment choices are really good, as a reward for pursuing the alignmentI don't mind it being done this way, keeps things interesting.
Pillars of Eternity or Pathfinder? Which one is easier?
>>551868332Some people here speak highly of UnderRail but I couldn't get past the ESL writing and didn't find the other points as good as others say they are, basically the combat and "build autism."I personally enjoyed both Pillars games, on release and recently on replay. But they are polarizing and you'll find just as many people who disliked them as enjoyed them.
>>551868053Icono choices are just generally options to break the rules with usually good intentions. It's not like mass effect where if you just spam the paragon button it always turns out alright.
>>551868332>What am i in for?terrible graphics, just play the fallout games instead
>>551868752Both have story mode so I don't really see the point of the comparison. I guess if that's what you're looking for, I'd go with Pillars of Eternity as your choices when leveling is more straightforward. But damn dude, have some dignity. "Which one is easier" shaking my dang h.
>>551868332Underrail was pretty okay, but a lot of the limited-use weaponry like grenades didn't feel as impactful as I'd like. Maybe that changed.Pillars of Eternity is extremely wall of texty, and most combat amounted to just grabbing a handful of party members and hurling them at the enemies. Didn't care for it.
>>551868687the icono alliance option is the best overall
>>551868752If you're familiar with 3.5e it's pillars. Most of the difficulty in pathfinder is in knowing how 3.5e works and building your characters correctly. Once your build comes online most fights are over in a single spell.
>>551868332if you want a crpg that's more combat than other crpg elements, consider Jagged Alliance 3 or Wasteland 3, both are good.
>>551869194If it's more wall texty, i'll go with pathfinder then
if you've ever used the phrase about your "build coming online" then you're a soulless retard whose opinion should be immediately discarded
>>551869650they're the same wall of texty imo, it's just that Pillars got the reputation for it for some reason. You can make your own decisions but imo Pillars being a lot of "text dump" is very highly overstated.
>>5518683321 or both, they are good mostly but have some obnoxious combat mechanics and the plot is kind of annoying and inconsistentif you do get it don't waste any time talking to those special npcs that you just get backstories out of, they are all irrelevant backer content
>>551869727I'm not talking about, like, OP MAX WHEN YOU HIT MAX LEVEL AND CAN FINALLY ACTUALLY PLAY THIS GISH BUILD IT DESTROYS THE GAME buildsI mean like level 5 when spells start reliably doing things.
>>551869512That option definitely leaves the Eldar in charge, you can see NPCs gossiping worriedly about it laterThe persuade option is "no of course you can't stay in control but I will permit you to live at a safe distance" and it has the same alliance outcome but the NPCs are much happier. It's just flavour really, both options have the same beneficial outcome way down the line
>>551869650PF is also wall-of-texty as are most crpgstry BG3 or something
>>551869951you get that text but the option actually leads to an alliance where you can get them to stop mindcontrolling people and you get a happy ending where they get along with humans and leave the planet to you later
people who don't like reading but want crpg combat and some crpg things like a bit of choice and consequence, party banter, choosing who to take etc, should play Jagged Alliance 3. I think the trailer for it sucked because I had some impression going into it that was a total clownfest goofy game, but it's less goofy than WL3 I'd say. I wouldn't even call it 'goofy' really, I just think someone in charge of marketing went off on that aspect. It doesn't take itself too seriously but it's more like playing on tropes.
>>551869951mind you the options are/were bugged and put the friendly eldar questchain into the eldar in charge path so who the fuck knows what they are all actually supposed to lead to, I don't know if they ever fixed them
>>551870060>>551870176Oh ok I might be misremembering the exact details
>>551870137More than anything else people just don't want to play a crpg with modern military aesthetics. Same reason people bitch endlessly when a fantasy game doesn't have much magic or a sci-fi game doesn't have blue babes.
>>551870060>you get a happy ending where they get along with humans and leave the planet to you laterYeah and they help you out as well
>>551847597They have 3 female companions hidden for some reason.
>>551870319I don't see why not, personally. I'm not anywhere near a big /k/ fag but I thought it was well done. The weapon modding could have been a little better, it was a bit too much of the same on too many weapon variations. But I think they struck a good balance between having variation in general and not being too autismo about it.As far as the island setting itself I really enjoyed it. From coast to savannah to jungle to swamp. Mix of wilderness and cities. Interesting characters and fun side content. I was really pleased with the game but it never seems to come up here.

>>551875028Yeah I took it after commorragh on my last run. I reasoned that the intense stress had caused latent psychic abilities to surface, but not to much as to attract anyone's attention or be a danger. I only went up to PR 2. Ok, DA:O player hereDo I keep going a a warrior (male)or do I committ to the fun Magic (female) character?I really got into the human noble origin history, the magi one is meh and seems it wont really comeback besides running into that guyDunno how many female characters I can romace, no I wont romance guys kek>The why the fuck did you make a girlDidnt think I would enjoy mage gameplay desu
>>551880716Magi does come back somewhat often in the sense that going back to the tower is a pretty large section of the game and Jowan plus the mages play a part in one of the other main quests too.Plus being a mage itself has a decent amount of reactivity. Just go with the warrior if you prefer it though. At least it's not a rogue.
>>551880716>femaleno>maleyesmages get some extra reactivity from what i remember but play what you like. warrior and rogues are both fun too, rogues especially if you like micromanaging and shitting out dmg
>>551880716Just install mods and play as mage human noble.Fuck morrigan first then romance leliana. Dont harden alister and become king by marrying anora. >>551882541What's wrong with you?
>>551880716Keep playing as a male noble. It probably has the most reactivity. Especially in the late game. People actually take you seriously being the son of what is essentially a duke.

>>551863373Sadly, the early game waifu looks like to be kroot, no idea how that will work. The other option is a psycho negro mengele that owlcat probably won't even give a romance. The late game Arue/Yrliet replacement has to be either Aspys or blank, the mechanicus is a dud.Given that we have two women bossing you around the npcs might actually be main romances this time.
>>551888283>a secret three way romance with Millicentilia and Septimalol
>arriving incognito gives you way better stuff>in character there is little reason for itBravo owlcwt, amazing design as usual.
>>551889614Unless you're playing someone who feels a need to flaunt their status to everyone, arriving incognito easily makes sense considering what characters tell you
>>551886886>>551887156My RT is a fucking weeb and wants to be close to xenos so she can touch their ears
If people bothered to read playful darkness's description they would just spam creeping doom to distract him then kill him with AOE heals. He's actually one of the easier minibosses.
>>551891119>He's actually one of the easier minibosses. He's not, I get that you're trying to be "hard" or something but for where he's placed in the game, he's by far the hardest miniboss in the entire game.
>>551892273I'm pretty sure Daeren can solo him. The same is not true for every mini boss up to that point. He's only difficult because people try to punch him to death instead of exploiting his weakness.
>>551890764>so she can touch their earsOnly works on Yrliet. Dark Eldar ears have had their sensations significantly dulled from overstimulation. Marz would just get slightly annoyed, meanwhile Yrliet would essentially fall over and stay limp for several minutes mewling like a cat.

Owlcat or Larian?
>>551894940Bethesda
>>551894940Owlcat wlcat
>>551894940Why not both?
>>551894940Owlcat honestly. I enjoyed BG3, but less then their Divinity games. There was just something it didn't hit for me. Overall I enjoy Owlcat titles a lot more. Rogue Trader also finally softened my frozen heart in relation to 40k. I resisted it for over a decade and would only involve myself in Warhammer Fantasy, but I'm finally all in on 40k as well.
