What are your hopes for axes or swords? I believe axes will be definitely a bit faster than maces but will focus on physical ailments and possibly the more physical non-damaging ailments like maim. Also, rage oriented. Apparently there will be some axe throwing skills too but I am unsure how those will work. I doubt they will count as projectile attacks. As for swords, swords will be fast but focus on criticals with some elemental stuff thrown in perhaps.
