OK, I tested out an Affinity rolled Gogma with 4 Affinity 1 Attack up for shits and giggles and holy Jesus it's badLike septic. Down right Total Organ Failure bad. I was doing the Full Release Slash combo, and comparing it to a sub par Ele infused, it still underperformed. Straight up leaving about 500 to 700 extra damage on the table. This was against a run of the mill Gogma roll, i can't imagine the descrepency against a true Godroll. Unironically, what were they thinking???

The issue is it's a lot going on at once so you really need to plan a bit before starting if you don't want to be scrambling. If you've played the old games and are used to keeping track of 3 genprey, 4 vespoids, and a bullfango trying to kill you while rathian chimps out it's no big deal but the games have long since left that hectic atmosphere behind so it's going to feel really alien to most players. The games simply don't force you to fight multiple monsters at once very often which leads to people not getting good at fighting multiple monsters at once but it's absolutely a skill you should practice because multi monster fights aren't going anywhere even if they're usually not mandatory to progress nowadays.

I bought Rise in the Wintersale to play on the Steam Deck. Have to say the intro to the game is rather off-putting with it's hundred text boxes it throws at you, explaining systems you'll probably only interact with much later.Last MH I played was Tri on the Wii. All this wirebug zapping feels like it's a bit much. Should I have gotten World instead? I heard it runs worse on the Steam Deck.
