The one thing that confuses me about the ending is the fact it's so vague and unclear and does the whole "your name" thing where they see each other again like it's a romance story or something but was this game ever about Master and Mash's relationship specifically? Obviously it was central to the whole experience, but that being the sole thing that gets payoff? Isn't that weird? Let's be realistic gentlemen, there is no alternate ending. There's just going to be a small epilogue to close off the story with someone narrating the point of it all as if they were Nasu. There’s non-schizo answers to some things. The foreigner chapter could be before the finale. Maybe you’ll get NP5 Mashu in it, and that’s why she’s NP5 in certain parts of the finale. You can hand wave stuff like Moriarty not appearing, strange stuff with Maris not having a beast intro, etc. as hackery. But the weirdest part to me is how you don’t get anything when you beat Maris. Part 2 could be marked as clear after the foreigner chapter, but every scripted fight in this game has a results screen, even if you don’t get anything. There’s no precedent for this and from a game design standpoint it’s almost as if they were worried that players may be able to farm Maris over and over.
