>>552187157>still no voice acting or multiplayer
I played a little bit of Citadel. The sound design could be better, the UI isn't easily read and the shotgun seems to be of the all-or-nothing variety. I usually like a mix of death and eroticism, but the anime faces clash hard against the gore in a way that doesn't do it for me. Maybe my heart will from grow playing this.It still has a lot of things that I like in FPS games. You don't have to aim down sights, you can lean and look at your sexy legs, the game starts without much of a tutorial, and it's filled with 90s industrial cubescapes. The combat is fast and thoughtful enough that I'll probably finish the game, even if the core mechanics seem a little too simple.
>>552187274I think its possible if you use one of the black jet squids. You might have to let go of it as you jump out of the water and then walljump up the rest of the way. >>552200270Kingdom Come: Deliverance. It's a medieval game set in 15th century Bohemia with absolutely zero magic.Case in point this quest which is about three woman trying to summon the devil, but is really just getting themselves and you high on some "magical" ointment. The three animals you can "lockpick" is the three women and you are just having a bad trip. The best part is that after everything is done and it's pretty obvious that it was all just a hallucination, the mc still believes that it was a demon summoning, because he's 15th century peasant and doesn't know any better.
>>552200670>Boss fights are the essence of videogames.Your mind is fucked. This is like saying guitar solos are the essence of music. They haven't even been in fashion for like three decades.>They are fun if well designed(like ESA).There hasn't been a single groundbreaking or worthwhile boss fight yet. They all are extremely generic and too long that exist as a roadblock to the exploration, aka the reason you play a game like this in the first place. >muh games journalismYou know there are plenty of games that are more difficult that have zero boss fights? See Rain World. >The very fact that you think that such a basic videogame element such as boss fights are "fromslop"They have popularized the cancerous the tedious Simon Says type fights with multiple phases. These aren't metroid or megaman fights that are beaten once you understand a gimmick. These are 3 phased dance recitals you are forced to play out in a specific way. There's no player creativity or agency. It's "Do what I say or die". It's boring and gay.
>>552202640>but muh Rain World>but muh Animal wellHow about you play more videogames? And they only went out of fashion because people who don't actually like videogames(like you) got into videogames and forced them to adapt to your tastes, fucking over the original audience>They have popularized the cancerous the tedious Simon Says type fights with multiple phasesMaybe if you had played more videogames then you would know that those kind of boss fights were super common for decades(and that is what ESA was replicating, not fucking dark souls)
>>552204574>How about you play more videogames?I've played plenty. It's actually mind boggling that people can stomach playing the same exact shit seven million+ times. Do you really need to fight variations on Artorias for the rest of your life? Are you not bored? I am. I want to see video games devs do other things.
>>552204574>those kind of boss fights were super common for decades(and that is what ESA was replicatingyeah and they are bad, they were copying action movies, (which is why they are called bosses in the first place) not adding them because they made the game better
IMO boss fights still have their place in some simple formulaic genres. But it's always sad to see cargo cult designers try to include boss fights no matter how bad they are and how poorly they fit the game's overall systems design. The problem with boss fights is actually similar to RPG quests. Both are gamified "features" that have a rather strict expectations for their design. Those cultural expectations often make them worse, more formulaic. But if you make something different, braindead mainstream gamers will get confused. It's funny that games can be anything, yet so many expectations for them are strictly codified in gamer culture. There are two caricatures of gamers. The old school nerds who witnessed the entire x86 hardware evolution span, saw the establishment of all video gaming genres and still crave originality, new experiences. And then there's the normalfags and other dumb outsiders who want the same shit with new paintjob. They crave the familiar, yet another samey grind for cheevos in familiar steam stats, unlocking collectables like always, ticking boxes in familiar quest logs.

Okay, seriously. This game BTFO'd Mario Odyssey the same year it came out, and I only just got it recently. Mario Odyssey is seriously the most boring Mario game I've ever played in my life. I got it at launch with my own switch as well. The game feels like a constant, self-indulgent masturbatory advertisement for Nintendo while you collect the equivalent of coins but with an annoying animation attached to it. AHIT got everything right. Way more clever, funny, charming, better art style, characters, story, everything. The only people that would honestly disagree with this are people that have Nintendo's jizz in their brain from their cock going so far down their throat that the semen splashed upwards into their brain cavity.

>>552252781how is it? i was thinking about picking it up recently.
>>552264556It's great, honestly. As someone who's never played a Stalker game but only seen videos, I like it a lot. It's still a work in progress, some tunnels aren't accessible yet, and the northern part of the map is really sparse, but right now, it's got a lot to discover if you're into that and immersive sims.I like to personally wait for night and creep around enemy bases or ruins to forage for loot. Best feeling ever when an enemy walks right past me as i'm looking straight at them with NVGs on.I've done my best to not look at the steam forums and just have a completely blind experience until now after like 50 hours and it seems i'm at the end of current "quest" content. As it is, only thing left to do now is explore the handful of "dungeons" in the current beta and hunt for artifacts. Only advice is to maybe do the same, know that you don't need to kill every enemy you come across, and if you hear sirens, get to shelter immediately.I'll probably make a new character and start a new run when I get bored, but right now my main goal is to pay off my debt (until I get bored) and find a helmet that has both a heads up display and NVGs (to have a HUD while playing you need a headset that specifically says it has HUD displaying capabilities)

>>552207026This shit is exactly why I found Metro Exodus to be an utterly horrid experience, I genuinely want to slap whichever chucklefuck thought that putting bosses in a fucking stealth fps was a good idea, especially the bear which entire fight is basically just running back every few secs to pop a few bullets for like 10 minutes while dodging the constantly charging asshole and getting stuck in inch high ground clutter, and then curb stomp the fucker into paste for making us fight the fucking thing TWICE with no change at all in gameplay.I havent played in years and im still mad as hell about it.
>>552207026>But it's always sad to see cargo cult designers try to include boss fights no matter how bad they are and how poorly they fit the game's overall systems design. This is the way I feel about open worlds and fast travel. If your open world is a backdrop at best, why even have it?
>>552258379>>552258869>I got there at lv90 and finished around 140Haha, shit. I'm at 71-70 and I'm playing on Hard. The boss right before the Extractor took some doing, but I got it first try. >>552293350Same, kinda. I don't say that fast travel doesn't have its purpose, but I prefer if it's built into the game world for instance and it only works from and to designated places and maybe costs you resources. And it also comes down to quest and level design. Some places are fun to walk through even for the 20th time and how quickly the back and forth becomes repetitive can be heavily influenced by the quest design.I personally play games without using fast travel pretty much out of habit at this point (I'm pretty sure there were a few games I didn't even know had it)

>>552306919you have to go back to your hole
>>552306658Are you sure you're not confusing it with Ezeem? I remember specifically taking a mental note of that because how funny that description was to me and how well it encapsulates the humor in AK's work. It's kinda subtle, doesn't insist on it self and only works because of the overall tone of the rest of the game.Either way I definitely love this sort of continuity between the games. Same for reoccurring characters
>>552306945Get the radiation immunity if you havent. otherwise you probably just want stats. if you happen to be at any of the green nodes those are worth the 3 TP. maybe the talent that removes the ghost debuff, since you'll want a ghost.
>>552306841Misc game general.
>>552306919>centaurIsn't Qud player mutation system just a formless blob with extra parts? Even if you grow 2 extra legs there's about horse-like body. You still have humanoid sprite and extra limbs are just abstract stat buffs and equipment slots.
>>552307620If you choose the centaur premade then you'll visually be a centaur. But yes it's mostly just amorphous stats and an extra foot slot. And if you mutate multiple legs later, you'll need the mod that lets you change your sprite.
>>552306157That's what I meant. You probably remembered that desks had 5 slots by default and confused it with Consider's extra language slot which is also the 5th. And 6th for desks.
Speaking of reoccurring characters I'm ashamed to say it didn't click for me that this is the Weary Detective until someone told me. A friend reminded me that section 13(which I swear went by a different name before) came out of early access and we've been playing it with a 3rd buddy. Isometric view shooter/twin stick shooter. Honestly pretty solid, not something I recommend but it can be fun to the right people. One of the roguelikes I've seen with very limited options in healing Main issue is just a lack of variety in runs and some weird design choices.
