I was an easy mode shitter in Frontier/Hollow and Ragnarok is the first game I play autistically AKA Normally. Finding squad setups that work is pretty fun. Game difficulty can really be uneven though. One moment you're cruising comfortably and killing everyone efficiently, but then suddenly you get roadblocked with a sledgehammer to a face. And then your big dick OP unit suddenly gets wiped out because that one enemy unit has a really cancerous combination of skills and also all the fucking stars aligned to have all attributes and terrain bonuses against that one specific squad of yours. And the one squad of yours that can actually be the hard counter to this one super cancer enemy squad has already moved for that turn.Fun game.

>>552284193Here's my baseline tips to squad building that should get you through normal/hard:- building teams around Heroes is a decent idea as they're typically strong and good throughout the game, then fill the rest of the squad up with units that share types with the hero and units that buff (X Boost) those types- the way tanks work is a bit complicated but once you get the hang of it you can make teams that barely take damage: So you want your tanky unit (purple shield types) to have at least these three skills so they cover everyone and take less damage: Defense only, Defense Formation and Forward Guard, put the tank in the first/upper slot of a team- to make Forward Guard work, you need an attractive target your enemies will prioritize, it'll either be a unit that boosts the rest of your team a lot, so it doesn't benefit from as many boost skills as the rest, or you just intentionally sandbag their stats with titles like Virus, this unit goes in the last slot, by the convoluted logic of VB, Forward Guard from your first slot tank loops around to protect your last slot bait and that makes your tank work even against ranged attacks (maybe flanks too but I think that needs a separate counter)These are pretty much the most essential things to start building your own squads, there's all kinds of specific bullshit that needs specific counters, like enemies that have a ton of Parry/Evade/Tiny Physique can be a bitch to hit so you need specific skills to counter those or deal guaranteed damage, robot enemies often have self destruct skills meaning they can blow up on death (luckily in Ragnarok you can make Hilde a squadleader to completely counter this)
Btw are there any games where you let your harem girls breed with others to hastily form an army or something similar? Something like Mijishi's Alchemist game.
