After that I saw there was a OneDrive folder left and decided to delete it. It told me that the files were to big for the recycle bin and that they would be deleted instantly. Without thinking I clicked yes, assuming they it was the backup it had created. Turns out, the OneDrive folder had replaced the default Documents folder and that's where I had put my Sims files. All of them were gone in an instant. I tried recovery software but all of the files were corrupted and the game wouldn't launch. I am going to become Johnny Silverhand.

Also you might want to fix up your gamma, Sims 3 looks completely fucked up in screenshots and footage in normal fullscreen and I think the only consistent fix is to force it to run in borderless windowed instead, so Windows applies its own gamma settings rather than letting the game do it. The smooth patch has an option for this nowadays.
