I don't know if this aligns with the common consensus but I actually liked SotO a lot, I'd even say it's tied with IBS as the second best addition to the game I've played thus far behind. The Wizard's Tower mogs Eye of the North as a nice little hub map so hard it's insane, and I like how they did open world legendary armor. I'm replaying the original content for the first time in years and the writing is worse than I remember but holy shit the game is 100x more enjoyable when I can just skip to end on all of it, the actual mission combat encounters are pretty fun.I cannot and will not bring myself to replay the living world missions with all the unskippable yapping, holy shit the ego on the writing staff on this game, the worse the writing gets the more aggressively they force it down your throat.Gameplay wise though the game is great, it plays pretty differently once you have all the mounts and techs unlocked, playing a ranger in pure action cam mode with most of the UI turned off is very fun too, it's like a faux-fps-mmo

HoT gives you gliding and then mostly stuff to survive in its own maps; PoF mostly gives you mounts which are usable everywhere, etc.If you're a stickler for following the story in order, then you can double back once you have an elite spec to play Living World Season 1, which is free. LW2 is not free, and is not particularly good value for money, so unless you already own it, you don't really care about the cost, or you absolutely cannot make yourself skip ahead, I'd skip it for now (though spending some time playing in the LW2 maps, Dry Top and Silverwastes, which are free, isn't a bad idea; IMO they still hold up pretty well).If you want a change of pace from following the story and doing open world stuff, try Fractal Quickplay from the LFG (hit Y > Fractals of the Mists > Initiate Scales 1-25 > "Find a Fractal Quickplay Group" on the right side). They're super easy, most people will load in, not say a word, and sprint right through them, but nobody's going to get mad at you if you don't keep up, and you'll learn quickly enough.Once you have a handle on Quickplay (and you're not still using leveling gear), you can just join regular groups to advance.

One more retarded beginner question: what is the best way to get a serviceable weapon when I just hit 80? I'm using level 60 stuff here and the expansion monsters just laugh off my spells.
