Alright can some Ele experts help me out here

I always felt extremely weak on Ele, even with Tempest i kept thinking "x class would be faster" alot
I haven't actually touched Weaver or Cata because the rotations and mechanics look intimidating as fuck, and balance dictates the payoff can't be that good for playing piano
Evoker seems fun and i had a good time with both Inferno and Condi Mono Fire, but still felt extremely squishy (now without Water and Earth), Open World stuff is just misery at times
I really want to like Ele and play it, but i just feel like im inherently doing something wrong that kicks me off the class

I had a similar problem with Revenant, but there it was just me not liking the upkeep shit of Herald, every other Espec has been great (fucking love Conduit)

Weaver is actually deceptively easy. Most people make the mistake of starting off by trying to learn Weave Self, which is the only complicated part. Ignore it entirely (don't just try to learn the "simplified" version) and just do the regular loop with a different elite until you're comfortable enough to learn. You pretty much go back and forth between Fire and Air and do a lot of autoattack chains. It's not going to help you much if you feel squishy, though.

Catalyst is nearly identical to non-SE Evoker, except that you don't spam your F5 as often and you have to ground-target it - but if you play qCata, you get a shitload of Boons and Auras that help you stay alive, plus tons of combo fields so that if you're using Bloodstone Relic, it's way more forgiving than trying to get everything inside of Ring of Fire on Evoker.

You could also try the Power Alacrity Evoker build that's up on Snowcrows. It seems kind of stupid at first, but it actually isn't much different in playstyle from the regular Inferno or Power Evoker builds, and it's incredibly defensive with the amount of CC and Barrier it spams with the Earth F5.

I really like Scepter's playstyle personally, but yeah, I still wish it wasn't so dominant across almost every build. Sword has a couple niche builds but could still use some love, and they should unnerf Spear since Scepter is more powerful than Spear ever was anyway. I don't think there is any method besides already having healer ascended chests, you best get to farming whatever pearls you can find

Cheapest way is to do some WvW and get enough Badges of Honor to get the gear from that merchant.

Second-cheapest is to farm Verdant Brink until you have enough map currency to buy a Bladed set (minus the chest), but you'd still have to figure out trinkets and weapon. (most achievement-related sets are also stat-selectable, so if you have low-hanging fruit on some map mastery, or you have the VoE Extremis or Restless Captain, that's also an option for armor)
Astral Ward and Oneiros-Spun are not exactly cheap, per se, but if you do plan on making Obsidian Armor at any point, they're required for it anyway.

Blood Moon weapons from the TP are the cheapest way I know off the top of my head to get stat-selectable weapons, but there's probably something you can get from an achievement instead.

Lucky Great Lantern backpieces from Lunar New Year are stat-selectable and buyable on the TP, but there are also a lot of achievement rewards, and you can also gather map materials in LW3 and LW4 (or Bjora Marches in IBS and then convert to LW4 materials) to get Ascended jewelry.

Permadeath players get their own exclusive layers, but everyone who plays on the servers starts fresh, disable all fast travel (allow asura gates/), disable all story content and gating, enable some more natural zone phase points (instead of invisible walls, so you can fly/sail across maps)

Apart from generally just being overpowered, Evoker has a lot more variety to its builds, it's easier to reach the skill floor, and it's a lot more self-sufficient if you're doing solo stuff. I think just about every Evoker build runs Scepter in the mainhand, and then Focus if you're playing mono-element or Dagger if you aren't.
Weaver is cool and there's nothing strictly wrong with it but the only real reason to play it is if you love Weaver. It uses Sword/Dagger, unless you're playing Condi Weaver in which case you use Warhorn offhand and either Pistol or Scepter mainhand.

Thief isnt really a wvw blob class unless you play Spectre, Daredevils are great because they have 20 million dodges, but in blobs you WILL get fucked in the 0.1 nanoseconds inbetween dodges

Another plus for Necro is that they can boon corrupt with Well and Axe/Warhorn (iirc) which enables people to actually kill something, nothing will die if it has all boons on it

Druid is primarily a support spec, it only was allowed to do damage 2 years ago because with the release of HoT anet needed a dedicated healer elite spec since they also were releasing raids along with the expansion. In order to do damage with Druid you need to take the Eclipse grandmaster trait, that allows you do apply damaging conditions to your celestial form skills. This trait also makes it easier to generate celestial form because it makes strike damage generate astral force. Normally you would only reliably generate astral force through healing without this trait. You can think of celestial form like necro shroud that needs 100% energy before you can activate it. Druid is either full support or full condi, the alacrity dps build is a meme
