As the meta evolves throughout a season there's an incentive to grind out new decks. No one was out there grinding Selena decks until Sereniel showed up and theory crafters put 2 and 2 together. Then everyone went out and started doing runs for Selena who was a contender for least useful combatant in the game. New seasons will bring new metas with new things to look for. With no leaderboard and everyone existing in a vacuum, you would treat the great rift like the the nebula bosses where it's just one and done and then there's nothing left to do. With a leaderboard there's a motivation to do better to improve your score. And maybe you don't care about that, and that's fine, but you can also just ignore it and ignore the meta and do one run once a season and get 125k pts and your one time rewards and then go do whatever else you wanted to do, same as if there was no leaderboard.

I am already 99% sure there’s fake rng in this game because I’ve been counting and out of 50 runs since I’ve started counting 90% of the divines happens to my Mika. That is way too skewed to be considered pure rng. In contrast even though I’ve ran Sereniel more than Mika who swaps sometimes with Nia cause I was building Nia, the amount of times Sereniel got a divine outside of the tunnel is less than 10%, and basically never for the first part where it’s possible to get mutant sample.
