There's a lot of in-character ways you can either intentionally or accidentally get him killed but the common one is letting the goblin kids continue to throw rocks at him in his bear form. He'll break out of his cage and immediately be hostile to the party regardless of whether you joined in or not. At that point it makes sense to defend yourself, often not even realizing he's the druid that was mentioned at the grove until he's been killed. You can also completely ignore the dungeon in the goblin camp, make Minthara think you're going to help her take the grove, either follow through or double-cross her and defend the grove, then immediately beeline it to the creche, after which he'll be dead. Then there's the whole purifying the shadowlands quest that is so easy to ignore because you're more concerned with more pressing shit going on. I'll be rescuing and recruiting him this playthrough because my Tav is a Druid and would obviously help him out.

Honestly the more I think about it the more it seems like siding with Halsin and the druids is the dumber option, in-character. Your big pressing issue is the tadpoles in your brains. You're looking for someone who can deal with them. The most promising lead is Halsin since everyone in the grove hypes him up and he's been studying the infected but when you finally get to him in the goblin stronghold he tells you he can't actually heal you and that your best bet is to infiltrate the cult. He says he'll help you along the way BUT only after you risk your life to save his grove full of druids who have only been huge pieces of shit to you and everyone else so far. And that's it, he doesn't really offer anything of value to you, just his word that he'll try to help you out later after you solve all his problems for him.Meanwhile your other option is to NOT pointlessly risk your life helping out these retarded druids and instead just go straight to the cult you need to end up infiltrating anyway. You even have an easy way in since you readily pass as a True Soul. You need to help them raid the grove but they have the superior force so it's still the path of least resistance; everyone in the grove knows they don't stand a chance. Tell them where the grove is and move on to the cult HQ, nice and easy.
