Kitasan, imo, just didn't get the same level of care put into her story that season. Is she goated in the stats, absolutely. But season 3 just seemed to juggle too many things to get that across.She has rivals, much like Teio and Spe before her, but she spends little time interacting with them outside of races. She talks more with Nature than she does Duramente, Crown, or Cheval I think (have to do screentime math). We all know how much the rivalry aspect matters in sports anime, and season 2 used that well. Teio vs mcqueen, Mcqueen vs Rice, Rice vs bourbon, Teio vs any of team canopus (they have no chance but at least the rivalry is there). Even season 1 had some of this with the golden generation, especially grass kicking spe's butt.Season 3... just doesn't.Now let's talk about each MC's goals. Spe is being the best in japan, Teio is an undefeated triple crown, and Kitasan is to have a festival. What does that even mean???? Make people happy, sure I guess. But that's so broad, and arguably too easy to achieve depending on who you want to make happy. Even Spe's, which is equally as obtuse, has at least some relation to winning. Kitasan doesn't need to win to achieve her goal of making people happy, just look at Haru Urara for proof.
