And having finished Lilly’s route, I have reached the end of Katawa Shoujo. I will confess that while I still enjoyed her route the most, I probably wasn’t as emotionally impacted by the ending as was intended. I picked the wrong choice in the summer house, so when I went back and got the good ending I didn’t think she was actually gone forever. I would have liked to have gone into that ignorant. It took me a solid minute to pick my jaw up off the floor when Akira said Lilly was leaving but I can only imagine how gut wrenching it would have been to go through the chase and think you’ve gotten the bad ending.Don’t misunderstand though, I still cried plenty of manly tears. I needed that epilogue. I ended up feeling rather bad for Akira too. She may not be the poster child for the game, but I feel like she was still screwed over.I’m not sure how to feel now. I’m so glad I played, and wish I had done so sooner. I am already nostalgic for it. I even miss the 4LS startup chime. But at the same time I feel empty. I can’t really talk about it outside of here. I would tell a few of my friends to play it, but how would that sound? “Yeah man, the description may sound like a porn game but it will leave you crying at 2:00 in the morning I swear!” I want to forget about it so I can do it all over again. You guys warned me, and I had somewhat of an idea that this would happen, but now that it has I still feel like shit. I’d do it again in a heartbeat though.I think I’m going to go make some tea.

Is it true that most people don't really like or care for Hisao? Why? For protagonists in visual novels and just video games in general where you're meant to self insert, I think he's pretty well written. He's not a completely blank sheet lacking personality, he can be funny, he's not stupid, he's not a genius either, I found him a pretty compelling character even if obviously I liked the katawas a lot more.
