I really struggle to believe that there are people who are so mindbroken by 3H that they've broken off into an alternate reality where 3H was the sales liability and Engage was the thing carrying the gacha. Literally all of its banners bombed. The best performing banners from every year since Engage came out have never been an Engage OC. Most years zero Engage OCs were on the top five banners overall. It was a net negative to the gacha, it made a shit ton of people abandon the game because they didn't want to play a fanservice game that instead of being fanservice was dominated by characters they didn't know and didn't like. There was never even any demand for these characters, they started at 21% of CYL8's vote and then dropped to 15% in CYL9 with no winners either time, as opposed to 3H pulling 44% in CYL4 and 37% in CYL5. Nobody asked for Engage content, nobody rolled for it when they released it, nobody wanted to play a game drowned in it. It was a net negative to the series in general and lowered everyone's expectations for future entries. But it was also a net negative to FEH in particular because it hijacked what was once a fanservice game and destroyed it with characters that had no fans. And the only reason they did this was to sate the developer's own egoistic need to pretend their game and cast were well received because FEH and Engage had a heavily shared staff.It's honestly one of the greatest tragedies in the series history. FEH was never a particularly good game but it helped tide people over with the characters they loved until future entries. Now it's infested with characters nobody loves, and nobody has any hope for future entries. What is discussion of the upcoming game Fortune's Weave dominated by? Not hype, but fear.
