Empathic evasion also helps a lot with dealing with gunners, auto-dodge on crits (all of the DoT ticks have a chance to crit so its up quite a bit in a large enough horde) coupled with one with the warp for toughness damage reduction make survivability a lot more manageable.

If you're stuttering hard even after doing things like updating the direct storage files and enabling fullscreen optimizations etc. then you might need to run the game at a lower resolution or upgrade your hardware. Frame drops are common but stuttering should be mostly mitigated in normal play.
