>What the heck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as A Hat in Time, Animal Well, Baba Is You, Balatro, Battle Brothers, Cave Story, Celeste, CrossCode, Cultist Simulator, Darkest Dungeon, Darkwood, Dead Cells, Disco Elysium, Environmental Station Alpha, FTL, Hades, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Hotline Miami, LISA, Lobotomy Corp, Loop Hero, Machinarium, Monster Train, Noita, Nuclear Throne, OFF, OneShot, Rain World, Shovel Knight, Slay the Spire, Starsector, Subnautica, Sunless Skies, The Witness, Void Stranger, etc., as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Pillars of Eternity, and Valkyria Chronicles. /jrpg/ is welcome. Idle, roguelite, shmup, 4x / RTS / city-builders, and RPGMaker games are cool too.

Mobile or consoles, Flash or Unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads, however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

Your Underspace bro?

Ah, Earth Dancer! Your dance has brought me joy and happiness. In gratitude, allow me to bestow upon you this recipe.

Seconding Starsector, nothing else comes close to its feel. It has small projectile PD turrets against missiles and other close-in threats just like The Expanse, spraying fans of bullets in every direction. And the lead sprayers don't stop there, they go all the way to massive capital-sized flak cannons, gatlings, etc.
It has higher tech weapons too, but ironically taking ancient ships and fitting them with tons of good old dakka is one of the more powerful things you can do.

there's this thing but you need severe autism to play it https://store.steampowered.com/app/476530/Children_of_a_Dead_Earth/
this is 25 drones simultaneously firing 1000+rpm 30mm railcannons
yes, it lags like this all the time

Someone loved Honor Harrington.

I don't remember kh2 at all, the things I remember are only the things that marked me when I was a kid like the beauty and the beast boss fight reaction command, mickey's handshake or ansem's "computer". Should I play on proud mode or critical?
>>
>>553970315
No clue what either of these are, but isn't the game kinda hard?

Proud mode: Enemies deal double damage.
Critical mode: Enemies deal double damage (same as proud), you have less health and mana growth when leveling, you gain only 75% exp but you deal 25% more damage to everything, get a ton of skill points and better skill point growth and gain a few a few extra abilities at the start of the game. Skills are mostly learned by leveling in kh so the extra skill points don't matter much until the end of the game.

that's how actual space combat will be fought
300 thermonuclear missiles targetting the enemy missile platforms with heavy point defense
>>
>>553971959
Depends how confident you are, I guess. Critical sounds fun, though.

Do you have a potato PC or something?
Also, that UI is surprisingly good. That part on the right is a really, really good idea to get an idea of the range between units.

>Do you have a potato PC or something?
no, the game is just incredibly autistic and singlethreaded
every single one of these missiles has a fully simulated hull with individual properties of materials being taken into account (you can make armor out of literally anything, even shit like pure diamond, same for projectiles for DIFFERENT kinds of cannons (with their physics also simulated in real time, coilguns, railguns and conventional chemical guns)), with fully simulated lasers as well (so their perfomance can degrade in case of overheating/damage, gas chambers and optics are also simulated), and you can have up to ~500 of these things at the same time on screen, and not to mention all the non-combat simulation with different kinds of fission reactors, radiators, crew capacity and thrusters going on as well.
reading through the entire codex will give you a crash course on material science, newtonian mechanics, optics and orbital mechanics, as well as space fleet combat strategy.

oh, and all of that happens in an n-body industrial-grade simulator that makes your cpu spike when you plot interplanetary trajectories (even during close-in encounters)
and you can make your own ships from the ground up with nearly no limitations. designing a working fission reactor requires a great deal of knowledge about how they're actually operate and all their primary components
it's a kind of gun where you can design a 1 gigawatt railgun that fires 2 gram uranium pellets at 400km/s to snipe stations in orbits of neighboring planets
here's one of the codex pages
clicking "more info" button just straight up leads you to a wikipedia page

You know what, Aurora ain't looking too bad anymore
>>
>>553974987
Aurora is just spreadsheet autism. Not a physics sim.

>n-body industrial-grade simulator that makes your cpu spike when you plot interplanetary trajectories
Sounds more like industrial grade garbage, plotting doesn't lag in KSP with principia.
>>
>>553975652
ksp cheats, the planets are on rails and rockets are only affected by one planet's gravity at a time
chode calculates gravity wells of every single massive body and accounts for other stellar petrubations like photonic propulsion, so all vessels outside of lagrange points are required to have a thruster to perform stationkeeping, or their orbit will decay over time like in real life
>>
>>553976331
I said KSP with principia, dumbass.
>>
>>553976331
>>553976542
Oh and if chode lagrange points are perfectly stable without requiring any stationkeeping, it's less realistic than principia. In reality you need a lyapunov-stable libration point orbit around a lagrange point. And even lissajous orbits require a bit of stationkeeping propulsion.
Space is hard.
>>
>>553970919
Just use the dialogue history
>>
>>553973732
Sounds fucking nice. Through I assume "singlethreaded" is bad?
