You know, something that I really liked about this Canto is that Dogrector has shown he's willing to do almost an entire Canto where the Sinners are separated into different teams. Can be annoying for gameplay purposes but for the story? We could see something where Sinners are on the opposite sides of a conflict and fight each other. Being willing to lock out teams like that opens a lot of potential to play around with in the story.

Is it possible Rien is Ryoshu's biological father? While not outright confirmed he has the most bond with Ryoshu and the prescript might have ordered him to have a baby with Shiomi Yoru. He may have challenged Yoru to a duel and when he won Yoru was forced to compel to his objectives after she lost. It was a loveless baby making. Yoru's dialogue was that she was free to wander the city until she got bound by having a baby and raising that baby.

Valencia’s was a step above, in that it wanted you to help Vergilius get in unopposed hits. Emperor Greg was an even better version of her fight, but with an actual risk of losing if you couldn’t properly manage your team’s HP and ampule usage. The first Pinky fight in part 3 was just an easier retread of the part 2 final fight, though their was somewhat interesting trying to mitigate damage for Ryoshu’s solo duel. Rien’s fight was just a slog, and also a bit boring in terms of drama, but I suppose it’s meant to be taken as part of a sequence with the prior two fights (duel against Araya, then against the Apprentices).The world building was nice, gave us a better idea of the kind of scale other powers in the City are working at and the kinds of tech that can compete with EGO or Shin. Pretty lacking in emotional catharsis for Ryoshu, at least from my view as a reader.
