The worst thing for Tails is Sonic. Think about it. Why was he at his best in the Adventure era? Because he wasn’t glued to Sonic and was allowed to shine away from him. Both Tails & Jet use flying through the air to rival and race against Sonic's running speed, but Tails does it to keep up while Jet does it to challenge Sonic to keep up with HIM. Sonic has no master except the wind that blows freely, but Tails is his apprentice while Jet is the master of the wind itself. Tails struggles with self-confidence and has to make the effort to believe in himself, Jet KNOWS he is the best of the best and can back it up every single time. Sonic inspires Tails to believe in himself, and humbles Jet by rising to his level and breaking his ego. If Cream is Amy's Tails, then Rouge is Amy's Jet.
